On Facebook.

Local Facebook page, a man posts a discussion about Prolife protesters outside abortion clinics. A picture of himself with a sign saying 'screw these guys', pointing to the Prolifers.

He then proceeds to lecture women thinking about counter protesting, saying sometimes it makes the situation worse (yet he posts a photo of himself clearly antagonising the prolifers at a previous protest Hmm )

I point out to people thinking about counter protesting, with a particular group who are mentioned, that the prochoice group hold certain views about gender that conflict with my own.
That they believe the word woman should not be used on placards as 'people of all genders use abortion services'
Obviously it's just women that use abortion services.

So a sign stating 'A woman's womb is no ones business but her own' would not be allowed. It would have to say 'A person's womb is no ones business but their own'

Anyway. I was blocked by the OP.

This below was the reason.

Funnily enough, before he blocked me I received around a DOZEN likes from Women agreeing with what I said. They also believe that the word woman is Not dirty and should be a use able word in relation to abortion services.

Yet this man think he knows better than them and me.

He blocked me again before I could reply.

Argh.

I've just been called a TERF...

Just makes you realise that this is all about language isn’t it? Nothing has actually changed. There are still two groups of people. One of them produces eggs, the other sperm. The one producing eggs is the only group that can get pregnant and have any need for abortion services. We used to call this group ‘women’. However, we have now apparently taken leave of our senses and can’t think of an appropriate word for this group of the kind that produces eggs. But the reality hasn’t changed at all. The two groups still exist. It’s just that we’re tying ourselves in knots pretending that we don’t know what they are.

Any comment on this, karkasaurus?

Yes you are pathetic and woman haters. You ought to stop the insults/threats/physical assaults/attempts to erode woman’s rights then shouldn’t you...

TERF is the New scolds bridle

Shutup Woman.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/09/2019 10:13

Ah the twitter/meme generation. Can’t argue more that 240 characters, so merely empty chants and slogans. Grow the hell up.

Pota2 · 29/09/2019 10:08

You might not agree with what people say but who are you to physically stop them from saying it. Why do you stand outside meetings trying to stop people entering, throwing water on them, screaming obscenities and taking pictures? Has this ever happened when you want to meet to discuss something you care about? Do ‘TERFS’ stand outside your meetings screaming and banging on windows? Get a fucking grip. If you were so sure your viewpoint was correct, you surely wouldn’t need to silence those who disagree.

Absolutely pathetic and if you think the rest of the public support you you are sorely wrong. Most of us are too scared to speak for fear of reprisals from idiots like you but we sure as fuck don’t support you.

Coldwatershock · 29/09/2019 10:08

Well put Tentacle. The stats on death threats, intimidation, harassment and silencing don't look good for trans activists, so the TERFS can be proud of their peaceful and lawful activities.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/09/2019 09:59

But it’s just inadequate men and teens isn’t it?

TheAlternativeTentacle · 29/09/2019 09:40

Against you patting yourselves on the back about being shitty to trans people? No, I just think it's pathetic.

This is a thread about how to respond to being called a TERF.

Here are some of the times we have been called TERF, with the rhetoric involved.

So you are saying we are pathetic for not wanting to be killed, or to choke, or die in a grease fire?

Perhaps if Trans people just gave up this toxic response to women, and weren't trying to insert themselves into every female space, which is there for the safety and dignity of said females; we wouldn't have to even respond to these threats of violence.

As I say time and time again...
Women: we don't want men in female spaces
TRAs: DIE bitches, we will cut you up, we will fuck you over and burn you in grease fires
Women: yeah, that's why.

I've just been called a TERF...

Words de jour: shitty and gross. You sound like you’re about 5 years old. At least speak in adult language.

SpamChaudFroid · 29/09/2019 09:12

Is anyone seeing much anti-terf graffiti? On our walks, the pup and I are seeing it spray painted onto benches, "No TERfs on our turf!"

Last time I left a pile of informative literature, today I think i'll bring a Sharpie so I can correct their mistake Smile

StrangeLookingParasite · 29/09/2019 00:25

Against you patting yourselves on the back about being shitty to trans people?

You'll hurt yourself with those knee-jerk responses. Honestly, do you have script, or a book?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/09/2019 22:23

Lame insults, I am sure.

WelshMoth · 28/09/2019 22:15

No, @Karkasaurus, we are happy that we all see the label 'Terf' for the impotent, useless, meaningless toddler term that it is. We are smug that we see it for what it is.

As for dashing in and out to hurl "shit" and "pathetic" at us, well....we ARE on a Feminism and Women's Rights board so we are allowed to discuss issues that affect Women.

Do you want to engage in the dialogue or just lamely throw insults around?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2019 22:01

A placard 'A woman's womb is no ones business but her own' isn't 'being shitty to trans people'. It's supporting women's rights.

Karkasaurus · 28/09/2019 21:27

Argument? Against you patting yourselves on the back about being shitty to trans people? No, I just think it's pathetic.

CrazyToast · 28/09/2019 21:12

OP I saw that thread earlier today. Good that he is standing up to the Fallowfield prolifers but sad to see he is also a wokebro. Disregard and continue as you were, is what I say!

CrazyToast · 28/09/2019 21:09

@Blackopal Ironically it is often those calling you TERF who are homophobic and protesting sexual orientation as 'transphobic genital fetishism!'

Cailleachian · 28/09/2019 21:07

Its not "an argument", its the law.

If @Gingerkittykat's friend has a GRC stating that they are a man, they can abort right at any point in the pregnancy, no fucking about with 2 doctors signatures, no need to demonstrate harm, no restrictions on term limits. People who are legally recognised as men have abortion on demand.

Abortion is a woman's issue because abortion is only criminalised for women.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/09/2019 20:27

What a pile of this that argument is...

StrangeLookingParasite · 28/09/2019 20:10

What a pile of shit this thread is.

So no actual arguments as such, then karkasaurus.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/09/2019 20:09

Indeed - such a detailed, logical and well thought-out post from @Karkasaurus, @TheAlternativeTentacle. Grin

Cailleachian · 28/09/2019 18:54

Under the current Gender Recognition Act (2004) a person with a womb and a Gender Recognition Certificate can have a legal gender of "man".

Whether you agree with that or not, the legal position is that person is a man. Therefore they are not subject to the legal restrictions on abortion as these only apply to women.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 28/09/2019 18:53

What a pile of shit this thread is.

Lol.
