Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

I've just been called a TERF...

On Facebook.

Local Facebook page, a man posts a discussion about Prolife protesters outside abortion clinics. A picture of himself with a sign saying 'screw these guys', pointing to the Prolifers.

He then proceeds to lecture women thinking about counter protesting, saying sometimes it makes the situation worse (yet he posts a photo of himself clearly antagonising the prolifers at a previous protest Hmm )

I point out to people thinking about counter protesting, with a particular group who are mentioned, that the prochoice group hold certain views about gender that conflict with my own.
That they believe the word woman should not be used on placards as 'people of all genders use abortion services'
Obviously it's just women that use abortion services.

So a sign stating 'A woman's womb is no ones business but her own' would not be allowed. It would have to say 'A person's womb is no ones business but their own'

Anyway. I was blocked by the OP.

This below was the reason.

Funnily enough, before he blocked me I received around a DOZEN likes from Women agreeing with what I said. They also believe that the word woman is Not dirty and should be a use able word in relation to abortion services.

Yet this man think he knows better than them and me.

He blocked me again before I could reply.

Argh.

I've just been called a TERF...

Gather round, Woke Youth, and allow me to tell you a tale designed to warn young women and girls to beware of males who are not quite what they seem, or what they want you to think they are. The name of this classic tale? Bluebeard.

PhonicTheHedgehog · 28/09/2019 12:31

Oh, I identify as a PERF. I’ve found my identity after all these years and YOU. ALL. NEED.TO.KNOW

I’ve even got a slogan.

PERF:ect

Tyrotoxicity · 28/09/2019 12:22

Have any of them started dying their beards blue yet? It's surely only a matter of time.

AleFailTrail · 28/09/2019 12:11

I do think PERF is something we should use and own-Penis Exclusionary Radical Feminists. As in I’m not a TERF, I’m a PERF and that means I’m not an -ist, I equally exclude anyone with a penis

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/09/2019 11:58

Blue hair with intent 🤣

OhCharlieYouPrick · 28/09/2019 11:49

On a brighter note I've just received my order from Standing With Women. I shall sport my Woman definition tshirt and hopefully bump into the bearded wanker.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 28/09/2019 09:06

The best response to Woke relatives banging on about how terfy you are is probably "nobody cares".

Blackopal · 28/09/2019 09:06

Oh dear, I did not mean open a blue hair debate!
I don't blue hair, I mean blue hair with intent.

Anyway, I have been called genius on this thread, I do love terfy company!

Sophocles I like that response, no reaction to the label at all, takes the silencing power out of it.

WelshMoth · 28/09/2019 09:03

He very much believes himself to be feminist and extremely liberal.
In reality, he is mansplaining peacock who champions causes that require no sacrifice from him.

Where is the clapping hands emoji in this place?

I'm going to remember this one!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2019 08:59

It's a correlation, not causation!Grin

OhCharlieYouPrick · 28/09/2019 08:53

Well I have blue hair and am certainly not woke!

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2019 08:52

some of the best blokes in my age group had beards. Sorry that being a natural man is now only practised by idiots

I'm of similar vintage - those beards were in the main 'natural man'. I think the woke blokes are more inclined to sport some type of unnatural 'hipster' style. Grin

They may, however, possibly be subconsciously trying to show that they are real men, even if they say TMAM, for despite many TM sporting beards I'm not sure many can manage something resembling a furry shovel.

teawamutu · 28/09/2019 08:41

Blackopal, you genius: champions causes that require no sacrifice from him.

Nailed it.

AloneLonelyLoner · 28/09/2019 08:02

The last man I knew who called himself a feminist was also a wife beating rapist.

You're a TERF. Congratulations. Own it. I do.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/09/2019 07:47

I believe it is called the ‘blue hair syndrome’.

When I was a child little old ladies with a blue rinse were the local terrors - telling kids off for playing football in the street/being loud/not being in school/breathing..., arguing with shopkeepers over priced and bus drivers over their driving, and generally being rather loudly opinionated. My grandma was a prime example of the ‘blue rinse brigade’ as we called them.

Is there a link?

Blackopal · 28/09/2019 07:43

I have been denounced as a terf by my utterly entitled brother (blue hair) apparently this means I am homophobic and I totes 'suck'.

He very much believes himself to be feminist and extremely liberal.
In reality, he is mansplaining peacock who champions causes that require no sacrifice from him.

littlbrowndog · 28/09/2019 07:43

I have heard they may be called the cocked crusaders rushing to help the most oppressed ever

SophoclesTheFox · 28/09/2019 07:40

My only reaction to being called a TERF these days is to say “oh, do you think?” and carry right on with whatever reality based conversation I was having. I treat it as if I’ve been called a disobedient woman (which is what it means, let’s face it) and as I wouldn’t give a shit about that, so I don’t give a shit about being called a silly name.

Mr Sophocles has a beard, and he is resolutely non-woke Grin. I have carefully beaten the urge to mansplain out of him over the years though, so he wouldn’t fucking dare go on like OP’s willy waver (JOKE! I do not beat my husband, obviously).

VinandVigour · 28/09/2019 07:34

Thank you for the ‘vin’ Ereshkigal and terfsandwich. I needed it after that altercation.
I’ve been on MN for a few years, lots of name changes, but I’ve never been called a (legendary MN) viper before. I’m truly honoured, my second badge to be proud of in recent weeks! 😂

terfsandwich · 28/09/2019 04:27

Vinandvigour that's one of the best posts I've read on here!
Wine for you viper!

Milanimilani · 28/09/2019 02:11

I really really want to test this theory, but think if I walk up to every man with a beard and ask him if he is a misogynist I may be carted off in a straitjacket. Grin

ChipOnMyOvary · 28/09/2019 00:39

Not convinced. I may be a very different age to most posters, but as a 55 -y old, some of the best blokes in my age group had beards. Sorry that being a natural man is now only practised by idiots. btw very turned off sexually by beards, but platonic male friends with beards were quite common for me. In some ways that's interesting as maybe the nice blokes are being fazed by this shit. Maybe those same woke blokes will come to their senses soon. I believe some of us feminist women were taken in by this shit originally until peak trans hit. Anyway this is steering the conversation off course, but I didn't start the prejudice about blokes with beards. (I shan't be starting a thread about women with underarm hair either. I have had ubderarm hair and hairy legs all my life apart from occasionally for sweat reasons.)

teawamutu · 27/09/2019 23:46

I'm idly wondering if there's a correlation between stupid massive fucking beards, hipster clothes and Old Testament values...

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 27/09/2019 23:44

And this is where we are as a society, with young men thinking that it's reasonable to lecture their mothers on what's best for women. Thanks, queer theory.
