I’m offering this without comment, mainly because my jaw is still on the floor.

I dunno. I just think it's very sad that there is a contingent of teens so jaded by sex that this kind of thing is on their radar.
This type of stuff used to be marketed to middle aged couples to spice up a long marriage - not kids who you would expect to be thrilled and excited by explorations into snogging and fumbling.

It's just sad. A lot has been lost.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/10/2019 19:39

Sadly I think the anal sex section is about reducing pregnancy.

FannyCann · 02/10/2019 17:29

with the aim of reducing STIs and pregnancies in teens.

Does it actually cover safe sex anywhere?
Most of it seems to be very unsafe sex which would likely lead to an increase in STIs and other injuries.

From the Rugby Advertiser

Tuesday 28 June 2011
A CONTINGENCY from Warwickshire will be visiting the Netherlands in October to find out why Dutch teenage pregnancy rates are five times lower than the UK’s.

The EU Leonardo Da Vinci Programme has awarded the Respect Yourself Campaign €40k to develop a project to improve sexual health of young people and teenage pregnancy rates in the county. The project will involve professionals from health, education, the voluntary sector, leisure services, family and parenting support, and other support services working with young people, all take a consistent approach.

Respect Yourself campaign manager Amy Danahay said: “Warwickshire will be using this funding to address the factors deemed to ‘make a difference’ to improving the sexual health of young people and reduce the teenage pregnancy rates which will inform our future aims.

“We believe we can achieve these aims by focusing our project proposals on future training for professionals working with young people. Whilst we could not involve parents and teenagers at this stage, we hope as the relationship between Rutgers and Respect Yourself develops that there will be more opportunities in the future.

Warwickshire County Councillor Heather Timms, cabinet member for children and young people’s services added: “At a time where service resources are shrinking, this funding and the experience it offers to members of the sexual health workforce is much welcomed news.

“It is sad and well documented fact that teenage pregnancy and STI rates in the UK are too high and we could do well to learn from the practice of our Dutch counterparts. This project is a first for Warwickshire and for local authorities nationwide so the future scope for sharing our learning will be broad.”

HandsOffMyRights · 02/10/2019 17:21

The Respect Yourself programme received significant funding with the aim of reducing STIs and pregnancies in teens.
They need to be challenged on this too as there are some stats upthread re those targets.

Jonny is also aiming to convert more at a couple of events soon. An opportunity to question this grooming programme. Warwks CC 'Respect Safeguarding."

Hi, thanks, yes that's my next stage of escalation. My judgement at the moment is that they're more likely to make changes if I treat it as an issue of insufficient checks during the commissioning process.
If this falls on deaf ears we have a strong social media mums group which I will take it to. But at first I want to give them an easy, practical solution to remove it as a commissioning issue.
One issue though, I can't access the site from my android phone so I'm not sure if it's working properly? I sent the link to the twitter thread in my email.
Thanks

truthisarevolutionaryact · 02/10/2019 17:11

Well done Newuser. The LA really needs to explain why it is appropriate for these extreme sexual practices to be sold to children by the Warwickshire (and to clarify their safeguarding thinking about this).

HandsOffMyRights · 02/10/2019 17:07

Newuser can you get any parent power on this. A petition?

HandsOffMyRights · 02/10/2019 17:05

Good work!
What about local media?

Birdsfoottrefoil · 02/10/2019 17:00

Well done Newuser!

MsTSwift · 02/10/2019 16:50

Good work!

Newuser123123 · 02/10/2019 16:49

Hi, I've just joined to post this. I'm in Warwickshire and today have emailed the portfolio holder for children's services, the children's safeguarding board and the communications team. I also copied in our local MP who is generally pretty good. I will let you know if /when I get a response. If not I have some other ideas how to escalate.
Thanks

An article on the RY programme from 2012. Wonder what happened to the original project lead?

HandsOffMyRights · 02/10/2019 15:24

Yes, the rape scandal was at Warwick Uni.

I was disturbed that the lead investigator was the head of PR, who I have met a few times. He certainly wasn't an appropriate choice.

Toitoitoi · 02/10/2019 13:53

Wasn't it Warwick university where students incited rape on other female students?

SirVixofVixHall · 02/10/2019 13:41

My girls are 12 and 14. I have felt physically sick after reading some of the stuff posted. Who would want to be a girl now ? No wonder so many want to identify as boys.

MsTSwift · 02/10/2019 13:19

I absolutely concur with the last few posts my girls are 10 and 13. Porn has become a hateful thing I find it so sad that young boys will be corrupted by this and try to enact it out on our lovely girls. I look at my 10 year olds male friends they are so adorable hate to think what they will be exposed to in the next few years. Anyone involved in that industry or the promotion of it should be very very ashamed.

ifonlyus · 02/10/2019 13:13

64% of teenage girls have experienced abusive behaviour from their boyfriends. Sexual assault in school against girls has gone up be more than 500% in Warwickshire. And yet no one is joining the dots and thinking that there might be some correlation between encouraging porn (which is what this programme is doing) and boys abusing girls

No-one is joining the dots over the increased in nenntaln health issues in girls. I saw one article with quotes from a London mental health Trust hcp who gave examples and made the link clear between boys'sexual violence/coercion and girls attempting suicide or self harming but it's very quiet elsewhere.

I also have dds in this age bracket and can't quite believe what I am reading day in day out and I come to the realisation that very few people in the country really give a shit about their wellbeing or outcome in life.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 02/10/2019 12:09

So agree with the last two points. The violence and ritual humiliation of women involved in extreme porn (now being offered to our children as acceptable by creepy men like Jonny) are so evident yet the porn advocates completely drown this out - even on here.
This whole debacle just shows how powerful these people have become and how bloody uncritical the education world are to fund this dangerous toxic crap.

Antibles · 02/10/2019 12:06

Fair point SirVix I don't know the stats. I also wonder if men are resentful of or threatened by women's increased economic power.

Call it kink and you can do anything

Yes. "Kink as rohypnol" perhaps.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/10/2019 11:53

Antibles i wonder what the stats are, have domestic violence rates fallen ? I doubt it somehow, almost all of it goes unreported.
I do agree though that this is an acceptable way of hating women. Call it kink and you can do anything. Since my teens there has been a seismic shift in misogynistic violence, from overt social placing of women as inferior, to covertly expressing the exact same sentiments, but forcing women to be complicit. Thus being able to convey the impression that, just like our Jonny, you are a caring man who likes women and girls really, while metaphorically, and literally, spaffing all over them.

Antibles · 02/10/2019 10:15

I find myself wondering if the emergence of all this violent and humiliating sex is due in part to the outlawing and increased social unacceptability of domestic violence? It's now explicitly forbidden in the kitchen, as it were, so it's moved into the bedroom.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/10/2019 09:49

Agree Orchid
I feel very bleak about this. My lovely daughters, having to go out into this world.

OrchidInTheSun · 02/10/2019 09:03

And is it any wonder that there is also a 500% increase in girls seeking to identify out of being female? Girls get abused, attacked, assaulted and controlled. No wonder so many of them are desperate not to be girls Sad
