Thousands of deaths associated with drugs given to trans children.

Really important piece including many of the issues we have discussed here before.

I'd still like to know exactly what a 'trans child' is.

The agency has recordeded_ more than 41,000 adverse events reported with their use between 2013 and June 30, 2019.*

More than 26,000 of the events associated with the two hormone blockers, Leuprolide acetate and triptorelin (which includes Lupron and similar drugs used by clinics), were classified by the federal agency as “serious,” including 6,370 deaths. The drugs, which dramatically lower testosterone and estrogen levels in the body, are linked to life-threatening blood clots and other complaints, include brittle bones and joint pain.

*Michael Laidlaw, an endocrinologist from Rocklin, California, testified before the British House of Lords on the issue of “transgender health care” in May. Laidlaw told the Register, “These drugs actually induce a known disease in previously hormonally healthy children.”

Puberty blockers, he explained, interfere with normal signals between the brain and the sex organs, thereby creating a disease state called hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in youths. “It’s a serious condition that endocrinologists would normally diagnose and treat because it interferes with development, but in [gender dysphoria] cases they’re inducing this disease state,” Laidlaw said.*

This is not a gentle pause. This is active harm to the body. The article counties to describe the active harm done to the brain and IQ levels too.

Wow that stuff from the BMJ

Terrifying

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/09/2019 21:36

But then you have this homophobic misogynistic sexist clap trap going on from the bbc.

BBC Bitesize is teaching children being a lesbian is about gender www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3697303-BBC-Bitesize-is-teaching-children-being-a-lesbian-is-about-gender

And the NEU saying to teachers that their pupils may need to pop to the Gp for meditation (blockers, hormones.) and the toilets and changing rooms are really are very simple; simply ask the child! No any girls complaining can stfu and use a separate toilet and change.

WTF exactly.

Aren't drugs companies finding new markets in terms of giving HRT to transitioning men? I'm sure I read that fewer menopausal women are taking it because of potential side effects.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 20/09/2019 21:34

it's about having to commodify everything

children can't just have issues with the gender roles being forced on on them and then come to terms with how much they're going to accede to society's expectations

money must be spent. how else will the economy continue to grow otherwise?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 20/09/2019 21:33

Oh. This seems to have been published in the BMJ today:

www.bmj.com/content/366/bmj.l5647

'Gender dysphoria in children: puberty blockers study draws further criticism'

'we present new allegations that the researchers might have broken rules when seeking ethical approval. They might also have misinterpreted another study’s findings about potentially worrying effects of the drugs on changing bone density.'

By Newsnight reporters, as far as I can see?

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/09/2019 21:32

I've spent most of the kids' bedtime thinking what the fuckity fuck. Most of this week tbh.

OP posts:
BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 20/09/2019 21:30

There is no such thing as a trans child, it’s really that simple. ALL children must go through puberty to mature and understand their sexuality

this

what the actual fuckity fuck is going on? (I seem to ask that a lot)

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/09/2019 21:30

You find a new market.

Fuck. There we have it.

This is absolutely fucking appalling.

Mermaids and all those who dress up the "pause" as a lovely thing are complicit in child abuse.

And again, the question is, what happens when you're a pharma company and you make a very expensive drug that adult patients just won't comply with taking because it makes the feel so bad so quickly? Drugs are only under patent for a certain number of years and are thus expected to recoup development costs and make profit mostly during that limited time period. So, you are the company that makes Lupron and the clock is ticking. What do you do? You find a new market.

StealthChocolateHoarder · 20/09/2019 21:24

It will be the next thalidomide scandal.

In more ways than one.

StealthChocolateHoarder · 20/09/2019 21:18

In addition to all this:

Re Lupron, one report stated that such is the toxicity that medical professionals are advised to wear gloves to handle it.

Even more concerning is the recommendation that they avoid contact with pregnant women for up to 3 months AFTER handling it!

The implications of children thus being prescribed this whilst their mothers or relatives are pregnant are horrific as birth defects are apparently one such side-effect of mere contact with other people who are taking it.

Shocking to think that Mermaids - and worse, people who are unlicensed prescribing or sourcing - are allowing/encouraging children to start courses of such a toxic drug without fully advising on the associated risks to these children, but also to others around them.

Mermaid encourage children to take these drugs without parental consent or knowledge too; thus extending the reach of potential complications to friends, relatives and teaching staff.

You're welcome. I think the links don't work because you have to tick the box and agree to the disclaimer before you can access the site directly.

Brilliant, thank you ScrimshawTheSecond

ScrimshawTheSecond · 20/09/2019 19:37

youkiddingme, if you click the link to the FDA site and then put in 'Lupron', you get the figures, including deaths. I don't know what other drugs may be included in the story/figures.

Orangepearl · 20/09/2019 18:50

Of course it’s bad for them! This is just one of the reasons women are offered HRT as lack of oestrogen destroys your bones amongst other things! Testosterone provides bone growth what could possibly go wrong!

I don’t know about climate protests people should be seriously speaking up about this child abuse.

Some of it I fear will be a M by proxy state induced by the parents to gain attention!?

youkiddingme · 20/09/2019 18:42

Is there any way to get to the original FDA data, please? I can't seem to get to it from the article linked.

happydappy2 · 20/09/2019 18:10

There is no such thing as a trans child, it’s really that simple. ALL children must go through puberty to mature and understand their sexuality. The quicker we can get Mermaids & stonewall out of schools and away from children the better.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 20/09/2019 17:38

to see it confirmed is terrible.

Yes. Never have I wanted to be wrong so much.

But we are right on this.

Some medics are speaking out, we need more to do so.

BeMoreMagdalen · 20/09/2019 17:23

Despicable.

Michelleoftheresistance · 20/09/2019 17:10

Oh God Sad

I mean it was obvious this was a risk, but to see it confirmed is terrible.

CharlieParley · 20/09/2019 16:56

Let's also remember that the treatment approach developed by the Dutch clinic who pioneered the use of puberty blockers required combining blockers with intense and lengthy psychological support aimed to help reconcile the child with its sex.

Any use of puberty blockers without exploring the possible causes of the child presenting with gender dysphoria and without attempting to resolve the underlying issues does not use these blockers as intended, ie to pause puberty while attempting to deal with the gender dysphoria.

The way it is used now - to attempt to deal with the gender dysphoria through the use of puberty blockers - is nonsensical. I am not surprised that this makes the kids feel worse.

It's like putting a plaster on a festering wound without dealing with the infection itself.

He is celebrated by many eduçators and influencers in Birmingham.

He kicked off PRIDE in Birmingham I believe.

Locally, it's put Jess Philips on the map too. She's my friend's MP but replied to say she couldn't make the WPUK/Fairplay meeting as she was meeting Amnesty. The irony.
