Oh Ffs, ABC! (Warning: Rant Ahead)

Watching the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) news last night and this little news story came on screen:

www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-16/same-sex-couples-naturally-conceived-baby-dna-from-both-mums/11515214

Yes, it's our old friend "trans" again.

Now if they'd really been a "same sex couple", or the partner-with-the-penis had carried the child, that would have been a newsworthy story, but "heterosexual couple have PIV sex and nine months later a baby is born" is not really worth the airtime. Even if the father of the child decides to call themselves its mother and wear lipstick.

I found myself swearing at the TV and switching it off (shades of my father who used to make me cringe by doing that when I was a teenager.)

I always loved the ABC's investigative journalism, but when they decide to air this woke nonsense I feel like backing Murdoch in his push to have it privatised!

And actually I'm willing to go out on a limb and say these are bad parents. He gets off on his child sucking his nipple. That's abusive. But probably that's just my transphobia coming out.

StealthPolarBear · 23/09/2019 19:25

Poor baby.

WrathoSWhlttIeKIop · 23/09/2019 19:19

Here we have the ongoing narrative that trans can have children too.
Now there's no need to worry about transing children becoming sterile, because medical science will give you what you want.
Actually, it's not medical science because these people are healthy, it's experimental science.

theunknownknown · 23/09/2019 15:33

oh jesus, I literally feel sick having read that second article. That poor baby.
The gaslighting going on with this whole movement and the complicit press frightens me tbh

Hoppinggreen · 23/09/2019 15:18

“Isabelle began freezing her sperm”
I don’t know how to describe how fucked up that sentence is

Callmejudith · 23/09/2019 13:39

Poor poor Rebecca

Hellmistress · 23/09/2019 13:25

I pity the two parents and their nasty delusions but what makes me fit to be tied is the reporting. The broadcaster knows who's male and female, and they know we know too, because none of us are idiots who failed our Biol GCSE, but they don't care, they're toeing the line anyway. The craven shits. These bastards want our spaces, our language, everything. Soon we shall cease to exist. Hail the revolution!

Juells · 23/09/2019 13:13

(And yeah, I kind of got off on it. Don't judge.)

I'm judging. Rebecca just couldn't let it be unsaid. Rebecca couldn't not feed a baby when stuffed full of hormones and medication. Even though the baby was premature and low birth weight. The selfishness, entitlement and attention-seeking are off the charts. Nobody matters but them.

YouJustDoYou · 23/09/2019 12:46

Jesus Christ, the penis-haver said they GOT OFF on having the baby suck their nipples?

SHUDDER. That is beyond sick.

skql · 23/09/2019 12:37

abc had dinner from science book.

and they write news from eggs.

Cantstopgrazing · 23/09/2019 11:52

Did you notice that the article actually says they transitioned to female rather than a woman? Obviously, woman isn't enough anymore, they want to own female too!

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 16/09/2019 21:23

What notbad said

NotBadConsidering · 16/09/2019 21:20

wouldn't be for me, but they sound OK

Well equally, I have no issue with the couple really (although Isabelle sounds very selfish starting transition while Rebecca was suffering hyperemesis). But that’s not the point of complaint. It’s the reporting. “Two biological mothers”, “DNA from both mothers” as if some pioneering IVF techniques have been undertaken. A biological male put their penis into the vagina of a biological female and it resulting in a pregnancy. Yet we are being gaslighted. It may come across as a “feel good” sort of story, but it’s these sorts of of articles that pave the way for the normalisation of changing the definition of woman.

motorcyclenumptiness · 16/09/2019 20:57

Even on the slowest of slow news days, you'd think somewhere in Canberra there'd at least be a cat stuck up a tree

DodoPatrol · 16/09/2019 19:51

Well, I was trying to find a bright side- and this doesn’t seem to me at the same end of the scale as dumping your partner in it after years of marriage.

LangCleg · 16/09/2019 14:45

I thought it was most fortuitous she was able to disclose she was "bi" at the same time her trans husband disclosed they were transgender.

I know! One could almost say fairy tale levels of serendipity!

KatvonHostileExtremist · 16/09/2019 14:21

I thought it was most fortuitous she was able to disclose she was "bi" at the same time her trans husband disclosed they were transgender.

I mean that's a marvellous bit of luck. Really is. It's like that Jette Knox woman, she realised she was a lesbian after her son and then husband transitioned.

I mean, what are the chances?

DNA from two mums though, the whole things miraculous, it's almost like a new religion. Amazing.

Praise be to the act of heterosexual sex!

DodoPatrol · 16/09/2019 13:25

Can't get worked up about that one. He's trans, she's bi, she fancied him anyway, he told her before they married or conceived the baby -- wouldn't be for me, but they sound OK.

OrchidInTheSun · 16/09/2019 12:13

It's a grim article from start to finish (tho I didn't spot the merchant of Venice ref!). The bit at the end where the baby wasn't put on the breast of the person with colostrum but the nipple of the person who needed validation? Grim.

I wonder how much the failure to breastfeed was down to the reduced liquid that the author was able to produce? That poor baby whose parents have prioritised a parent's validation over its wellbeing.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 16/09/2019 11:49

Ooo it's a miracle, sperm and egg makes baby, hallelujah

zen1 · 16/09/2019 11:41

What a fallacy - or should that be phallusy!

littlbrowndog · 16/09/2019 11:29

Omg that’s disgusting

He got off on his brand new baby girl sucking his nipple

Rubicon80 · 16/09/2019 11:10

@OrchidInTheSun Actually, that article you posted is even nastier than I first thought. Did you see that the author explains in the first paragraph that they were sexually stimulated by their experience of 'breastfeeding'?

Breastfeeding is freaky. Not the sucking bit. You're reading The Stranger, so odds are you've had a titty sucked at some point in your life. No, it's because when my baby attached to my breast, there was an incredible chemical cascade that ran through my entire body like lightning. Imagine the most electric thing a partner has ever done to you, then multiply it by 10. I could feel my brain rewiring, creating pathways that would permanently connect me to my child. (And yeah, I kind of got off on it. Don't judge.)

Bleurgh.

Barracker · 16/09/2019 08:52

Excellent.

I'll add "biological mum" to the list of female specific terms that men are currently misappropriating for themselves.

Woman
Female
Wife
Lesbian
Periods
Mother
Biological mum

Feel free to add any I've missed

LangCleg · 16/09/2019 08:52

WHAT!?!? You mean... unprotected hetero sex can result in pregnancy?????? Even if the bloke wears lipstick?

This was pretty much my reaction too: aka - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Our media classes have completely lost the plot - it's all "Hail, fellow citizens. Our glorious leader Caligula has appointed his horse to the consulship. We think we can all agree that the valorous steed will make many fabulous contributions to the workings of the senate."
