Easy as PIE – the rebranding of paedophilia (and how twitter is complicit)

(Reading this I should have got more and more angry, but in fact I got sadder and sadder, and felt its hard to belief that twitter could get this so wrong.)

CURRENTLY, there is a growing movement to rebrand paedophilia — a word which in itself is problematic — although it is currently synonymous with people who sexually abuse children.

Twitter currently has a policy which explicitly states that “discussions related to child exploitation as a phenomenon or attraction to minors are permitted, provided they don’t glorify CSE in any way.”
This change in policy was achieved by a renowned expert in the treatment of paedophilia and “Map” advocate lobbying Twitter’s director of trust and safety, stating that it would “help reduce the stigma associated with pedophilia [sic].”

Survivor of CSE Jacqui Dillon writes about how campaigning against the normalising of paedophilia and challenging twitter's failure to protect young people got her trolled and then band from twitter.

Shock Sad Angry

I wonder if someone should tell her about Spinster?

We see them. We know who and what they are.

PIE is a fascinating study of people and their motives - and how they will try to get their way.

There are still people in politics NOW who supported and promoted PIE. I was a small kid back then and even I knew it was creepy and wrong.

Yes please retweet our twitter thread sunkisses linked to. I don’t think the majority of people have any idea what’s going on with the normalisation of paedophilia.

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/09/2019 08:32

Yes please rt the SSA thread if you have Twitter.

This is just appalling. I also always think of that Tavistock Times article where a practitioner was concerned that the father was a paedophile and pushing for blockers for his daughter.

Safe Schools Alliance have got an excellent twitter thread about this: twitter.com/SafeSchools_UK/status/1172817591515131904

I’ve seen this on twitter regarding this deeply alarming article threadreaderapp.com/thread/1172817591515131904.html

A woman centred social media platform, managed. There are longer threads talking about it on FWR, if you want more info.

What's spinster?

Apollo440 · 15/09/2019 01:47

If you read the morning star article you'll notice that the tactics used by the pedophile apologists are exactly the same as the tactics used by trans activists.

A few years ago "MAPS" were marching at Pride Envy

VictoriaSpongeAndTea · 15/09/2019 00:21

Twitter is seriously dodgy, what on earth are the board of directors doing?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 15/09/2019 00:05

"Glorify" is the king of the weasel words in this case, isn't it? I've seen
"MAPS" on Twitter engaging in conversations that I would most definitely classify as attempts to rebrand pedophiles as the victims of societal prejudice, and while that might not technically be glorifying CSE, it is working its way up to excusing it.

BarbaraStrozzi · 14/09/2019 22:27

It's a brilliant albeit depressing article shining much needed light on this. (I read it earlier when someone linked to it on Spinster).
