Fully male sex offender demands and given access to women's prison under self-id

Limerick prison has 26 women.

Apparently he had a gender id certificate when he was convicted, though presumably as it's self is, they grant them quickly so any convicted rapist can just self certify he's a lady to get into the hen house

It was my understanding that Ireland allowed men into women's prisons as long as they already had a GRC, before they committed the crime.

As far as I remember, only a couple of hundred GRCs have ever been issued in Ireland. So the possibility was remote at best.

Until, of course, it isn't.

I also thought that prisons were one of the exceptions under Irish law. Was it changed?

Bollocks. The women need protecting and the prison knows this.

The Mirror may have to use 'she' but its work around 'male born' used throughout speaks volumes.

I thought male prisoners in Ireland had to be housed in a prison relating to their biological sex?
