Women's magazines distribution falling - Marie-Claire

I used to buy lots of magazines, particularly Marie-Claire and Grazia. I've stopped buying any that focus on transwomen rather than women as they just weren't relevant, or in Grazia's just insulting with article by the person who felt women were doing feminism wrong (name escapes me at the moment)

So I have slightly mixed feelings about Marie Claire stopping UK print magazine after November www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49651603 In the past they covered stories impacting women that no one else did and covered some real ground breaking stories but they went down the poor oppressed tw route without doing proper journalism so I'd long since stopped buying even the occasional copy.
They are continuing digital subscription so maybe it's just general market trends.

Sounds like a journo who maybe also used to write for The Pool. I used to hate their hectoring opinion pieces Grin

You know, I’m surprised none of the major women’s mags have gone online-only sooner. Seems they’ve held it together a bit longer than several newspapers.

I made a conscious decision back in my twenties (decades ago now) to stop reading women's mags because they seemed designed to make women feel bad about themselves. Did wonders for my self esteem. Haven't looked back.

So I can't say I'm shedding many tears. (And most of the campaigning stuff is also covered by broadsheet newspapers).

I stopped buying such magazines when I stepped back a bit and realised they always made me feel shit.
Marie Claire always looked the most appealing but made me feel worst. Cosmo, Company and New Woman were less bad for the Feeling Shit effect.
Now with the added bonus of their reminding me that I don't woman as well as a man I tend not to touch women's magazines with a ten foot bargepole.

They are all just glorified cosmetics adverts. Any magazines i buy are now hobby related. I read enough women's stuff on mumsnet/ twitter/ spinsterxyz etc.

Ah I used to read that.

Haven't bought a magazine in years though.

Print (magazine) journalism has been on its last legs for about 15 years now. That when we really stated to see magazines and weekly newspapers take the hit.

I think it’s a sign of the times, digital editions are being bought more as they are easier to manage
Think the last time I bought a magazine it was for the free gift may have been marie claire

Do many people buy print copy magazines any more? I wasn't ever really the target market but I think online editions / just generally reading the internet would cover a lot of the information that women's magazines used to.
