Boris Johnson’s luck might be about to run out

Didn't see that coming a mile off...

What do you think the GE will be about rosa ?

Domestic Abuse rights for girlfriends of PMs?

Payment of Child Maintenance by promiscuous caucasians in positions of power?

His feigned GC sympathy, like that of all the extreme right wingers is just that.

Gas lighting.

This coming GE is all Brexit and it's all Johnson.

If you think he's got any interest in supporting Women's Rights, I envy your naivety.

And everything is Brexit, as will be realised once the body bags pile up, and we end up hungry, medicineless and under martial law.

But do crack on.......

Johnson and his brexit party are marvellous for Women's Rights. Hmm

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 03/09/2019 19:23

With the brexit, you'll learn though.

Yes, because nobody in the Labour party supports brexit..........

The opposition need to wake up and realise identity politics is doing nothing to help ordinary people. Come up with some proper policies that actually address poverty for all poor people regardless of race, sex, religion. Until they recognise wealth is the greatest axis of oppression they will continue to leak support, if not to the Tories to apathy.

RosaWaiting · 03/09/2019 19:16

It would be a pity if this became a Brexit thread

Or is that what it was all along?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 03/09/2019 19:14

those who are supposed to be in power are paralysed

If those in power actually took charge, understood the opinion of the public and had some kind of actual direction Brexit would never have been a thing.
The actual threat of it would have been very real to them rather than a game and some actual effort would have been made to display the great things provided by the EU to the public, an effort to make the public feel they were listen to and that concerns were understood should have been made at least a decade ago.

As it happens they were clueless on just how many of the public feel about certain things, And the divide between the public and the people in power just keeps increasing, to the point now where we are going to roll back woman rights even though 80 to 90% of the public are against it.

All the political parties are equally guilty in the mess we are in, not one has clean hands and none are fit to be in power.

BelleHathor · 03/09/2019 18:54

I watched Hypernormalisation on iplayer yesterday. It kind of explains how we got here :
"We live in a time of great uncertainty and confusion. Events keep happening that seem inexplicable and out of control. Donald Trump, Brexit, the War in Syria, the endless migrant crisis, random bomb attacks. And those who are supposed to be in power are paralysed - they have no idea what to do.This film is the epic story of how we got to this strange place. It explains not only why these chaotic events are happening - but also why we, and our politicians, cannot understand them"

“There's a vast pool of real transphobia out there”

I doubt that is how anything would be pitched?

woman19 · 03/09/2019 17:59

it's, blind brand loyalty
It's fact.
With the brexit, you'll learn though.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 03/09/2019 17:26

I care for neither of them, but cannot abide the mantra that Labour and the EU are solely responsible for women having rights. It's false.

yes it's, blind brand loyalty that has caused this very problem, "Left" good, "right bad" regardless of what they are actually doing.

NotTerfNorCis · 03/09/2019 17:25

There's a vast pool of real transphobia out there, a world away from gender critical feminism. That's what the Tories will be harnessing unfortunately.

RosaWaiting · 03/09/2019 17:21

I apologise if I’m being thick

Why is it bad if a party decides to say that biology matters? I feel I’ve been waiting ages for one party to do this.

popehilarious · 03/09/2019 17:17

I don't care who pretends to care for what, I will never in my life vote Tory.

Labour Domestic Abuse bill being blocked by Johnson as we speak right now.

NotTerfNorCis · 03/09/2019 16:44

This shows how much harm identity politics has done. I don't want to see the right stirring up intolerance. I want to see the left throwing off the grip of narcissistic, divisive identity crap that only helps the already privileged.

woman19 · 03/09/2019 16:42

You're either being deliberately or accidentally inaccurate here.

Please list Women's Rights laws that tories have brought in, or British governments have brought in independent of EU legislation.

MrsSnippyPants · 03/09/2019 16:32

I'm pretty certain it was the Labour government that brought in the GRA and it was Conservative peers who were pointing out the problems it would cause (and have been proved right).
The Conservatives brought in marriage equality.

I care for neither of them, but cannot abide the mantra that Labour and the EU are solely responsible for women having rights. It's false.

LangCleg · 03/09/2019 16:27

Johnson is a trumpist and brexist ergo very dangerous for Women's Rights

Do you mean Brexiteer or sexist? Confused.

I very much doubt Johnson gives a shiny shit about women's rights. But then, he's apparently considering not removing them all, so that's a step up from his opposition's position.

If you're still labouring under the impression that queer theory, currently capturing "progressive" political parties across the world is anything other than a hyper-individualist, ultra-capitalist, uber-libertarian ideology, I'm afraid I can't help you.

woman19 · 03/09/2019 16:23

True, they've been very disappointing. Empresse

Doesn't take away from the hard fact that the Labour and Feminist movements won us our rights.

The tories and brexists always remove them.

Brexit will and is decimating Women's Rights.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 03/09/2019 15:26

Equalities Legislation always comes from Labour and EU membership, and never from tories and brexists.

Although sadly, Labour have demonstrated that they don't give a fuck about women's equality.

ChattyLion · 03/09/2019 15:13

The Stonewall interim Chief Exec appointment is very disappointing. They have given it to a staffer who looks to be singing from the same hymn sheet as Ruth Hunt. That means presumably that they are not going to engage with women’s concerns.

The petition linked to there is still open to everyone to sign btw Smile

Jillyhilly · 03/09/2019 15:03

Cummings and Johnson don't particularly like uppity women ruining their fun anyway.

How do we know this?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 03/09/2019 14:37

Trying to categorise people into tories, trumpists and brexists just seems so childish. I have learnt not to fear people who try to silence me by arguing that certain beliefs or statements must mean that I am a right wing reactionary. Politics like this have served society very poorly. It's not just the left that do this - a quick engagement in the Brexit debate reveals equally ignorant comments about remainers. It's pathetic and very destructive.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 03/09/2019 14:20

Oh this is... frustrating. I want this pushed out into the mainstream consciousness, but I don't trust Boris and Cummings to do it effectively in a way that protects women and children.

woman19 · 03/09/2019 13:41

Hence, the strange incidence of tories, trumpists and brexists becoming so prominent on these 'feminist' threads. Wink

To paraphrase the sign in the EU parliament, pointed towards that self styled bastion of Women's Rights Nigel Farridge. Hmm

'They are lying to you'.
