A 25 year old man killed Tracy Single, a transwoman in the US.

They were dating.

Peter Tatchell has taken to Twitter to blame Tracy's death on feminists. This is outrageous propaganda, using Tracy's murder at the hands of a violent boyfriend to further Peter's misogynistic views on feminists.

Can we complain about this somewhere? This kind of outrageous propaganda is dangerous.

Tatchell is a misogynist who doesn't give a fuck what happens to women. This tweet - ironically - increases the possibility of TRA attacks on feminists.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 31/08/2019 14:54

Bloody hell Royal. I didn’t know that. Why on earth is he seen as any kind of icon.

AllNaturalWoman · 31/08/2019 14:21

I'm mystified why anyone listens to Peter Tatchell, he creates an environment that is hostile to women and children. He has never even attempted to hide his agenda towards young boys - hiding in plain sight again Hmm

RoyalCorgi · 31/08/2019 11:15

Tatchell's infamous letter to the Guardian in defence of paedophilia has already been mentioned. But let's not forget:

Tatchell wrote a chapter for a book called The Betrayal of Youth, edited by Warren Middleton, vice-chairperson of the Paedophile Information Exchange. Tatchell's chapter was called "Questioning Ages of Majority and Ages of Consent”

Tatchell wrote an obituary for the Independent of his friend Ian Dunn, who he described as a "pioneer for lesbian and gay human rights". Dunn was a co-founder of the Paedophile Information Exchange.

Tatchell also wrote an obituary of his friend Dudley Cave. Cave himself had written a letter to Social Work Today complaining about the prosecution of Peter Righton for importing child sex abuse material. (Righton was a paedophile who abused children in care homes.)

Why Tatchell continues to be held up as some kind of progressive hero is something of a mystery.

Justhadathought · 31/08/2019 10:08

or within demographics for whom being gay is still an absolute prohibition

Justhadathought · 31/08/2019 10:06

Tatchell is blinded by his misogyny

As with Owen Jones, here is a man with a very public face and an established set of views, who when challenged simply cannot take it, or even dare to reflect upon those criticisms; let alone apologise. Instead he has to defend his position by deflecting blame and responsibility onto those who are challenging him.

How the actions of a TRA person's sexual partner in the U.S are in anyway the responsibility of women in the U.K is indeed a risible and offensive suggestion. Most trans murders tend to be of those involved in prostitution, and in countries in which being a gay man is prohibitive.

Pota2 · 31/08/2019 07:05

Yes, it’s amazing. No evidence whatsoever that trans people are at any increased risk of murder, stats show decreased risk in fact. In the UK, there’s sometimes one case a year, if that. Yet the narrative of murder epidemics is so ingrained that people just accept it with no question. And we get ridiculed and criticised for talking about male-pattern offending, when there are plenty of examples and all the stats are on our side and prove our points, eg re the prison population.

It really is a man’s world isn’t it?

SophoclesTheFox · 31/08/2019 06:49

Cherchez la femme, of course, Peter. There’s nothing you can’t make women’s fault if you try hard enough.

What I quite enjoy is that it lets slip that Pete knows, in his heart, that women are actually powerful and scary and we matter, and he’s not at all happy about it. Blaming feminists for transwomen being murdered is a nifty sleight of hand to misdirect the eye from where women actually do have the power to influence, which is becoming more clear as the tide turns.

NellieEllie · 31/08/2019 01:03

As pretty much always. Male violence. This is why we want women only spaces. Everyone is vulnerable to male violence including other men, but women especially so.
Desperately sad that this trans woman was killed, but to suggest it’s the fault of women who are concerned about our children being pumped full of experimental hormones, or competing in sport against males, or undressing next to males in public changing rooms, is disingenuous rubbish.

ThePurported · 31/08/2019 01:00

isn’t it strange how men who think men should be allowed to fuck children tend to hate feminists.

Feminists made him write that Guardian letter, obviously.

Come on Peter, you're missing a trick here.

Lumene · 31/08/2019 00:07

Lol Always. I hope someone has tweeted that at him.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 30/08/2019 23:49

In the U.K. a trans person is half as likely to be murdered as a member of the general population:-

www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/factcheck-how-many-trans-people-murdered-uk

Feminists must be doing a really bad job of whipping up hatred then.

Pota2 · 30/08/2019 23:46

That Guardian letter is fucking sickening. Nine. Years. Old. He is a disgusting disgusting man.

Voice0fReason · 30/08/2019 23:36

He is a sick twat who would rather blame women for male violence, than men.

DoctorTwo · 30/08/2019 22:45

Twatchell's a paedophile apologist as @AnyFucker said, and like her I have no time for him. For him to blame women for this murder is disgraceful.

zebrasdontwearbras · 30/08/2019 22:17

Right AF - why is anyone still even listening to this guy? Why does he still have a public presence at all? He talks about 9yr olds having sex Angry Fucking perv.

AnyFucker · 30/08/2019 22:12

I have no interest in the witterings of paedophile apologists

NotBadConsidering · 30/08/2019 22:05

Whenever there is a thread about this man it’s always worth remembering what he really thinks, and why he might want to undermine feminists:

Several of my friends - gay and straight, male and female - had sex with adults from the ages of nine to 13. None feel they were abused. All say it was their conscious choice and gave them great joy. While it may be impossible to condone paedophilia, it is time society acknowledged the truth that not all sex involving children is unwanted, abusive and harmful.

Peter Tatchell, letter to The Guardian, 1997.

RoyalCorgi · 30/08/2019 20:36

I was also going to bring up the 1st rule of misogyny, though LangCleg is right, that's five in one go.

I almost marvel at the depths of hatred he must feel towards women to come up with something like that tweet. It is full of a kind of visceral loathing of women that has absolutely no basis in any kind of logic or rationality.

AncientLights · 30/08/2019 19:39

Tatchell is blinded by his misogyny.

MyCatsHat · 30/08/2019 19:23

If this is the 15th or 16th transwoman to me murdered in the US this year, that would actually make the murder rate for trans people quite low wouldn't it?

The US homicide rate is about 17,000 a year so by August it would be over 11,000. Surveys of of US adults identifying as trans say about 0.5%. So if all was equal you would have expected about 55 trans people to have been murdered. If half of them are transwomen that's still 27 or so.

But yes totally misogynist shite argument from Tatchell. Feminists being mean about TW makes men want to go out with them and kill them... err you mean just like many men do with any women.

Lumene · 30/08/2019 18:32

Sorry to hear of this transwoman’s loss of life at the hands of a violent man.

Re: Tatchell, isn’t it strange how men who think men should be allowed to fuck children tend to hate feminists.

Coyoacan · 30/08/2019 16:30

I'm beginning to worry about Tatchell's sanity, actually. He says the maddest things and nobody ever agrees with him.

LangCleg · 30/08/2019 15:42

1st rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.

4th rule of misogyny: Women's opinions are violence against men thus male violence against women is justified.

9th rule of misogyny: Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say.

10th rule of misogyny: The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

11th rule of misogyny: whatever women suffer from, it is worse when it happens to men.

Is that five rules in one tweet?

Going for the record, Peter?

thirdfiddle · 30/08/2019 15:40

Tide has really turned on twitter hasn't it.
