I have a retraction to make. Last year I tweeted this in response to #GetTheLOut in London.

Pure bravery and courage, not only standing up for what you believe is right, but also accepting you are fine as you are, it's the world that is broken.

Supergranscape · 26/08/2019 07:43

So brave Charlie. Much respect to you.

TheShoesa · 26/08/2019 07:34

Huge respect to Charlie and Thomasin for publicly saying what they have said.

Gender ideology harms everyone.

2BthatUnnoticed · 26/08/2019 03:01

I’m glad to see now, the support on Twitter vastly outnumbers the non-supportive. She is so courageous to speak out, most detransitioners (quite understandably) want to keep their heads down.

nonsenceagain · 25/08/2019 23:18

Charlie, you absolute ⭐️

DodoPatrol · 25/08/2019 22:39

'it wasn't right for me so it can't be right for anyone

Sue, if there are children for whom 'it wasn't right' being led to believe that it IS right for them, past the point of no return to a healthy body -- surely you agree that that needs to be avoided?

Voice0fReason · 25/08/2019 20:34

Amazing thread. It highlights the harm gender ideology can do.

spinninghag · 25/08/2019 19:30

Charlie Flowers
Thank you.

Thingybob · 25/08/2019 17:35

Wow reading that brought a lump to my throat. I'm 3 times Charlies age but completely in awe of her bravery. If you are reading Charlie, please keep telling your story as I think you could be a game changer for lots of confused teenagers.

Angryresister · 25/08/2019 15:58

Charlie ..if you are reading this thread.. I would like to get this translated into Spanish and used as a monologue in an event where I live for International women's day 2020, as part of a joint event with other monologues written by different women. Would you agree to me using some or all of your words? I would not change them , only to shorten the piece if necessary. What do you think?

GirlDownUnder · 25/08/2019 15:51

Sorry NeurotrashWarrior - I’ve been very rude Blush

This thread is for Charlie Evans.

sue if you do come back, maybe we should take it to DMs or start a new thread.

I just liked the song /artist and don’t want to dump on this thread.

GirlDownUnder · 25/08/2019 15:47

Oh how interesting sue I’d be interested in you sharing.

I love his music (that won’t change) and his twitter bio reads:
Atheist, Homosexual, Black, Songwriter, Musician, Singer, Poet, Social-Commentator. English, British, EU Citizen intent on retaining that triple status.

Which was interesting cos I didn’t even know he lived in the UK.

3dogs2cats · 25/08/2019 15:38

Not transphobic just made really sad by self mutilation.

sueanddumplings · 25/08/2019 15:32

I'm glad you like Labi Siffre... who has made a number of tweets condemning transphobes.

GirlDownUnder · 25/08/2019 15:32

And sueanddumplings you’ll probably not be back to this thread, but no matter, nothing bitter when Labi sings.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2019 15:30

Charley wasn't offered any choices sue.

Today, the more you shouted at me that I was a cnt, the more you told me to fck off, the more I cried and trembled - the higher I raised this banner.

Charlie Evans - she is amazing ❤️

She reminded me of one of my fav artists Labi Siffre - So Strong

The higher you build your barriers
The taller I become
The further you take my rights away
The faster I will run
You can deny me, you can decide
To turn your face away
No matter 'cause there's

Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Though you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone, oh no
There's something inside so strong
Oh, something inside so strong

differentnameforthis · 25/08/2019 15:25

@sueanddumplings - Another slightly bitter and also arrogant 'it wasn't right for me so it can't be right for anyone' rant.

Lying to children and telling them they can be the opposite sex is not right for anyone, @sueanddumplings, ever.

sueanddumplings · 25/08/2019 15:07

Another slightly bitter and also arrogant 'it wasn't right for me so it can't be right for anyone' rant.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2019 14:52

Absolutely.

From the minute a girl is born she's taught how to perform femininity.

If she doesn't do it properly, too much or not at all she's vilified and shamed.

Lumene · 25/08/2019 14:44

But most importantly, for me - transitioning because I was taught by men to hate my female body, transitioning because I didn't 'feel' like a woman, was propping up the gender binary.

This is the crux of it.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/08/2019 14:36

Girls today - who may be gay, bi or straight are being spoon fed this now. The case in Canada is heartbreaking - the family forced to stand by as their 14 year old daughter takes T and threats if they should slip and call the child her/she or by their birth name. There is no coming back from what this kids body is being put through and the state is forcing it.

birdsdestiny · 25/08/2019 14:20

She is being well supported on Twitter. A few negative comments by mostly supportive. It's good to see.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 25/08/2019 13:29

That's bravery.

Yep.

2BthatUnnoticed · 25/08/2019 12:01

She is getting victim blamed on Twitter. By male people - who never had to navigate this world as a female child, then a female teen, in the male gaze.

I salute you, Charlie. I’m in awe of your courage and insight.
