I wonder if someone could help me find how to set up a blog, where I could speak freely? Any recommendations?

I got a spot in a safer place, doesn't look like party central, has no hot water, but cold spigots and electric points to charge devices.

I really don't feel at all well. Very dizzy.

I am trying to decide where to go if this is going to be life. Winter could be bad.

I cannot, really cannot share with men, penis haverers. I can't do it. Ild be a wreck.

Having got away, I'm pretty much traumatized in the extreme. Marital rape over extended periods of time, violent abuse. I cannot cope with men.

I won't make apologies for it.

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 27/08/2019 19:26

Here you buy Justice. Attorneys in my state are not allowed to take divorce cases on contingency basis. Meaning I can't pay them when I get my settlement. They need paying up front, with a retainer plus huge per hour rate.

If I could afford a Hollywood attorney ild be inviting you all for a party across the pond.

As it is, he is sitting on my pension, my house and my assets.

It is unbelievable. Unfortunately it's also true.

I might have found a camp spot with a few creature comforts. I'll drive up and see if it looks like party central.
If it does, I'll go back to the wild but quiet site.

I'm trying to come to terms with this as a long term possibility.

Driving music today, Viva El amor, the pretenders...

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 27/08/2019 18:46

I had the temerity to ask a young mother not to enourage her son to piss directly into my campsite, yards from where I was eating my meal.

From that she assertained I had never been a mother and if I had she pitied my children.

Then started screaming drunkenly in my face.

Drunk entitled rednecks

Last camp was very out of the way in the forest, but quiet.

I'm looking for something at least with water spigots.

My sisters here mean the world to me

Joisanofthedales · 27/08/2019 10:14

Stay strong Detroit. Sending you positive vibes x

FermatsTheorem · 27/08/2019 10:00

Just adding a message for you to pick up later in the week. Wishing you all the best.

Re. mating noises, mating tortoises are bloomin' noisy 'cos their shells clunk together. And surprisingly nippy when they're feeling amorous.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 27/08/2019 09:13

Detroit*, another voice adding to the chorus of support for you. I only wish I could do something practical.

My neighbour was woken by sinister heavy breathing and a sort of clunking outside in the garden. Finally got the courage to check it out.

Was hedgehogs mating who'd got stuck in a large ceramic pot. The echo was phenomenal.

Lamahaha · 27/08/2019 08:53

Last weekend I went to a sort of eco retreat in the wilderness and woods of Northern Ireland, far, far away form civilisation, and I thought of you. Several of the participants brought tents and slept out in the wild.

It's wonderful to do this for a weekend (I didn't; I went home as I'm not fit for tents with my bad hip, and I live close enough!) but for the long term must be distressing. Especially if you have no choice, and others have forced you into that life.

LangCleg · 27/08/2019 08:31

Good morning, Detroit.

Just leaving a message that you'll hopefully see on your return.

I was gardening in the allotment (for vegetables) yesterday. Our village's patches are on the edge of woods and I was thinking of you.

Lamahaha · 27/08/2019 07:12

Found the speech, with trasncript!

speakola.com/ideas/rory-stewart-hedgehog-2015

A random paragraph, but the whole thing is worh reading/listening to (I prefer reading):

The hedgehog provides a bigger lesson for us in our environment—first, a lesson in scientific humility. The hedgehog has of course been studied for over 2,000 years. The first scientific reference to the hedgehog is in Aristotle; he is picked up again by Isidore of Seville in the 8th century and again by Buffon in the 18th century, and these are reminders of the ways in which we get hedgehogs wrong. Aristotle points out that the hedgehog carries apples on his spine into his nest. Isidore of Seville argues that the hedgehog travels with grapes embedded on his spine. Buffon believes these things might have been food for the winter, but as we know today the hedgehog, hibernating as he does, is not a creature that needs to take food into his nest for the winter.

Detroit Flowers

A propos hedgehogs: I recently listened to an utterly brilliant Youtube by the British Tory politician Rory Stewart. I'd never heard of him before (not being British) but his knowledge -- in Parliament no less! of hedgehogs was breathtaking and his presentation superb.

nettie434 · 27/08/2019 06:38

Hope you find somewhere safer Detroit. I nearly wrote ‘unbelievable’ that the attorney thinks that no money/no pension share is fair. But then I thought that unfairness is part of the system.

I think we get a distorted view in the UK because we hear about Hollywood style splits with community property rules. Then again, we also have examples here of men hiding matrimonial assets.

Hope the music and freedom (and knowing we are here for you) sustain you.

Trohmaniac · 27/08/2019 01:52

Hi Detroit

I haven't spoken to you before, but I think you're amazing and dealing with everything so brilliantly. I'm so sorry you're dealing with wankers like that on top of everything else.

It isn't you - it's them. They're selfish and inconsiderate. I'm in the UK but I wish you were closer so I could offer you a place to stay.

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 27/08/2019 01:51

Not going to have electric or signal
I'll be back later in week

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 27/08/2019 01:45

Apparently if I was a mother they pity my children

My child who I lost I think loved me.

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 27/08/2019 01:44

I asked a person not to let their dog shit in my campspace, feet from where I was eating. Got verbally abused

Decided to leave.

Nowhere to go

I'm sitting in my truck crying

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 26/08/2019 22:47

I love Syd. Dark globe, baby lemonade ..I miss Syd too.

I hope I can get my fair share, but not holding out too much hope. Can't afford a good attorney unless I have a settlement, can't get a settlement unless I get a better attorney.

I'm looking for something to do, an intentional community, perhaps.

Joisanofthedales · 26/08/2019 22:15

Love the relics album too though my favourite Pink Floyd album is Darkside of the Moon probably because i still mourn the loss of Syd Barrat.
I really hope you win your fair share of the assets and can start the next phase of your life with some comforts.

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 26/08/2019 22:08

Camping should be easier after labor day.

I spoke to a homeless woman. She had been bitten by a dog and wanted a band-aid. She was far too injured for a band aid to fix. I offered food, but she wanted booze, not food, sadly.

On the wildlife front, I'm being freaked out by a wood rat. Yuck.

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 26/08/2019 21:51

I can't afford to rent. Right now I'm lucky enough to have money to camp safely.

littlbrowndog · 26/08/2019 21:09

Omg Detroit that really sucks

I hope you find a place.

Sending peace and love 💕

Detroitinnineteensixtyeight · 26/08/2019 19:53

Hello, Sisters.

Well, total failure to find space in a women's shelter that does not accommodate xy people or have them ad volunteers, and even if I could find space in a homeless shelter, I'm too high risk, as I'm fleeing domestic violence.

So, I'm going to have to try and concentrate on getting a fair settlement from Mr Charming. Current attorney will only help if I take no part of property, pension, assets etc. What I'm being offered, and told to take after 20 plus years is...nothing but my freedom from a meaningless contract.

They can get lost. I'll stay married and away.

So, this is what I'm going to be doing, I guess. Weather is still good. I've not given up on things. Im not ashamed. I should have half the damn house and pension.

Today is pink Floyd, relics. Arnold Layne (who steals women's underwear off clothes lines), see Emily play...

As for deletions, it's to be expected. Men forcing their proclivities on women and being aided by women in order to do so, is about standard for my life right now

Fuck the patriarchy.

LangCleg · 25/08/2019 10:54

Yes, don't let the attempts at coercive control even on here deter you, Detroit. We're here. We hear you.

GirlDownUnder · 25/08/2019 10:49

It was a pair of mating hedgehogs.
Hahahah brilliant - guess I’d complain tho if I was trying to get frisky with a pin cushion!

Evening all - tis wine o’clock here already. And it’s cold again - the library snug with a big wooly rug and some sloe gin would be perfect.

Detroit keep being loud Brew

Tyrotoxicity · 25/08/2019 10:41

Years ago, while having a late night smoke, I was most alarmed by the sudden noises from the bottom of the garden. It was clearly something alive, and large - as big as a badger, I reckoned, from the volume - and angry, unlike anything I'd ever heard before.

Clearly it was something demonic.

I proper shat myself for a bit. Then I pulled myself together, remembered this is England, and crept down the garden path to investigate.

It was a pair of mating hedgehogs.
