How to treat trans people.

The narcissism of this is breathtaking. Responses are pretty unanimous, people do not appreciate being dictated to and there is mention of coercive control as a form of abuse. How does this seem reasonable to the NB posting?

I think to be safe I just won;t speak to you

This, right here is exactly what will end up happening. All the stupid demands that have everyone treading on eggshells will simply end in people avoiding trans identifying individuals. And that will be as true for the trans identifying individuals that weren't making ridiculous demands as those that were.

Life is just plain to short and the rest of us have our own problems to worry about.

Branleuse · 18/08/2019 10:13

Id rather just not speak to this man at all tbh and dgaf about his "transition"

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 10:11

A man who can just wipe off the lippy.

Alwaysgrey · 18/08/2019 10:07

@YouJustDoYou people with disabilities are just making strides but there is still huge discrimination and a lack of reasonable adjustment.

Yet we’re all suddenly meant to bend and adjust to the will of a man.

YouJustDoYou · 18/08/2019 09:59

He’s a wee lad with a large ego, who needs to get over himself and realise that he isn’t special and the world doesn’t revolve around him

I think this is true of pretty much all men, mostly the Great White Male Privilege.

Propertyofhood · 18/08/2019 09:57

Yes, my first thought on watching that video was that Jeffrey needs a more blue toned lipstick to suit Jeffrey's cool complexion better. But, if Jeffrey likes it, then fair enough!

The lecture about what my 'job' is though?

No.

YouJustDoYou · 18/08/2019 09:57

I think to be safe I just won;t speak to you, because my autism means I see that stubble on your chin and I translate it instantly as "man in lipstick", and I will get in constantly wrong without meaning to. Because that's how MY brain works. But you won't catch me demanding people to change their behaviour to accomodate mine.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 09:55

True. Very true.

littlbrowndog · 18/08/2019 09:54

Why are you telling me what to look at and write about

Compelled speech compelled thoughts

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 09:54

Becaus a man speaks and we are all suppose the stroke his ego and tell him that he is brilliant. A woman brings up a serious issue and gets piled on.

I really wouldn’t give a shiny shit if one of my male colleagues decided to wear lippy and change his name to Doris. It’s irrelevant. But if he announces that he is a woman with a penis and wants access to woman’s changing areas and loos then we may have a disagreement. But I would be the one in ‘the wrong’ - interesting huh?

He’s a wee lad with a large ego, who needs to get over himself and realise that he isn’t special and the world doesn’t revolve around him.

YouJustDoYou · 18/08/2019 09:54

"Get it into your bones (their new pronouns). And when you get it wrong, because you will, don;t spend 15 minutes apologising to the trans person and then forcing the trans person to have to make you feel better...It's not about you. It's not about how you feel about their pronouns, and getting it correct. Centre the trans person, be compassionate.....and if a trans person comes out to you, it's your job to get their name right...it's your job to get the pronouns right"...

FormerMediocreMale · 18/08/2019 09:51

Haha the narc getting ratio'd. People calling out coercive control, enforced speech... its fantastic!

HandsOffMyRights · 18/08/2019 09:51

'Sometimes you lot have a valid point'

You lot? What lot would that be?

BillywilliamV · 18/08/2019 09:49

Why are you looking at this stuff? People may genuinely want to know how to deal with someone in their life who changes gender. This video strikes me as a useful piece of information. And I do get the debate on woman's spaces, sport etc, I just don't see that this fits into that debate.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 09:48

Bitchy? I’m on the drag thread too. Interesting 🤔

Just call me Titiana La Booty - some women are bitchy, get over it.

HandsOffMyRights · 18/08/2019 09:45

Encouraging responses.

Especially one stating that men wearing lipstick is hardly groundbreaking in 2019.

I say this as a former Goth and as a longtime fan of Robert Smith and The Cure.

littlbrowndog · 18/08/2019 09:43

A bit bitchy.

All the lols you lot

Ta for being just a bit condescending

Bezalelle · 18/08/2019 09:40

a bit bitchy

brilliant

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 09:36

Yes I love being lectured.

BillywilliamV · 18/08/2019 09:35

All seems quite reasonable to me, sometimes you lot have a valid point but quite often you're just being a bit bitchy.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 09:31

Exhausting. Can you imagine working with someone like that? Everyday some new drama! I imagine.

littlbrowndog · 18/08/2019 09:28

Me me me me me me me me

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 09:27

Very few people can wear red lippy.

TimeLady · 18/08/2019 09:25

All I was thinking was "wrong colour choice of lipstick, mate". Doesn't work with the five o'clock shadow. Mascara looks flattering, though.

That's not an anti-trans comment, MNHQ btw. I can't see past the ghastly red lippie on the girl in the TV toothpaste ad either.

MrsSpenserGregson · 18/08/2019 09:18

I thought it was a joke too, LordProf .... can it really be real??????
