How to treat trans people.

The narcissism of this is breathtaking. Responses are pretty unanimous, people do not appreciate being dictated to and there is mention of coercive control as a form of abuse. How does this seem reasonable to the NB posting?

This, right here is exactly what will end up happening. All the stupid demands that have everyone treading on eggshells will simply end in people avoiding trans identifying individuals. And that will be as true for the trans identifying individuals that weren't making ridiculous demands as those that were.

Exactly, you just don't know if an interaction with a trans person will result in being called a bigot, a phone call from the police, loss of employment or a court summons. I know few people that take a pride in offending others but it seems a minority in the trans community are perpetually offended and just when you think you understand the rules they move the goal posts to maintain their victim status. I regularly chat to a few trans people and none of them are like this but when I see stuff like this it reminds me I need to be careful around trans people I don't already know. I do not have thoughts like this about any other minority group.

Yes I'm not sure who I'm more annoyed at. Twat face for spouting this narcissistic guff or Sali Hughes for pushing red lipstick on ordinary looking people.

BTW Sali's next podcast is going to address makeup during gender transition...

In the article the girl wears "what they call “so-called boys’ clothes.” "
So I guess that means they're really boys clothes, so if a girl wants to wear them, rather than the clothes becoming girl's clothes, the girl becomes non binary.

LOL (at me - I think 'Poop' should be the new short apology for getting pronouns wrong.) This one was confusing for me and I didn't fancy a slap on the wrist.

Revised version of what I wrote:

In their defence, at least there were only a handful of rules. When I was trying to get my head around this whole thing I happened upon an article called how to be a trans ally. It had, and I'm not exaggerating, 100 rules. I was scrolling for ages, increasingly despairing. And it all had the same tone as this clip. As Arnold says above, we all have our own problems which makes this micro-centring difficult.

I am trying to imagine Jeffrey delivering this same speech to someone who is doing an actual job, say the plumber fixing their sink.('Yeah, great, could you just hand me that spanner.)

Don't think you need to worry too much about misgendering, Iminthewrongstory. Their Twitter bio says Jeffrey Marsh (so male name) goes by they/them. The rest of the bio really ties in with the embarrassingly self obsessed persona portrayed in that dreadful Tweet.
