How to treat trans people.

The narcissism of this is breathtaking. Responses are pretty unanimous, people do not appreciate being dictated to and there is mention of coercive control as a form of abuse. How does this seem reasonable to the NB posting?

Thank you for that. What a brilliant thread and I totally get it too. Sometimes I want food that's not hard work. Discernible and enjoyable flavours and textures without demanding to become a talking point. The OP had a great way with words.

Found it. Sorry, no-one else is probably interested, but this is the internet so it's not like I'm wasting paper printing it out.

Every description from the OP is fantastic. I feel everything she's saying.

butteryellow · 19/08/2019 16:29

If there’s going to be a ‘ how to treat middle aged women ‘ dictum, I’ll have an egg custard tart.

I really fancy a date slice. Someone on here once posted for a recipe, with the most wonderful description of what's great about a date slice - that it's kinda boring, uninspiring, and won't get you over-excited, but is still a pleasant cake (plus it keeps you regular), but she said it much, much better.

"Centre the trans person" Grin Grin Grin I'll decide who I centre in any given situation thanks.

picklemepopcorn · 19/08/2019 15:15

That's actually terribly scary. Seriously, there's the classic 'mad staring eyes' thing going on. I don't care about the lipstick, stubble, and I tuned out the message but the look may well give me nightmares tonight.

testing987654321 · 19/08/2019 15:00

Just watched that tweet teddy, looks like a piss-take to me.

testing987654321 · 19/08/2019 14:59

But I think it was the tone and choice of words, rather than the actual content.

Um. It's a video of someone talking. Maybe ask him to make his points using a different tone and different words?

TurboTeddy · 19/08/2019 14:34

Help, I really can't decide if this twitter account is a parody now. Surely no one can post this with a comment about inherent dignity and be serious. Or can they, I really can't decide.

It's also the age old tedium of the lesbian fantasy common among men: "You were lesbian and hated cock until you experienced mine , and I 'turned' you"

homophobia
misogyny
women not equally human
women's feeings and choices all nonsense
sex all about the thrill of the menz
sex without penis isn't sex
yada yada yada

Michelleoftheresistance · 19/08/2019 13:21

I honestly suspect if you said "oooh I'm a lesbian and I love dick, let's do it!" they'd be turned off on the spot.

The whole point of so much of this muppetry is the forcing of people to do something against their will, that makes them uncomfortable, that wins against their boundaries. It's all about the power and superior entitlement. 'I can make you do this', and the other person not wanting to adds to the thrill.

JY exemplifies this. The incel movement fantasises about this. If these people weren't using the TRA narrative, how far would they get as male presenting males propositioning women? Or demanding sex? And special treatment?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 11:59

Oh they don’t like woman lesbians. Not sure if they are keen on dating the ‘men’ ones either...

YouJustDoYou · 19/08/2019 10:40

I think it’s a new tribe, consisting of goady, bullying, woman-hating men and kinks

They seem to love lesbians though. Until they can't find one who wants a penis inside them, so they add lesbians to the list of "women we hate".

'When you screw up, and you will...'

Yes, I will, because I'd be lying. Best never to start trying then.

Wurzelsnewhead · 19/08/2019 09:00

Good point BazzleJet.
Unless the fact that mtf pose no risk to gay men in drag means it all just becomes one happy group of men poking fun at women and dismantling our rights.

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2019 08:56

I’m gender critical. And the video got my hackles up. But I think it was the tone and choice of words, rather than the actual content. I think the content is quite reasonable. Particularly the apology thing. Apologies often do end up about the person apologising.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 08:56

BazzleJet · 19/08/2019 08:45

I wonder what the drag queens would think if their 'spaces' and language were being colonised by 'pretendy' drag queens? Perhaps that's how it should be framed, that actually biology matters and lippy is actually just drag. Reframe and reclaim the language.

Your post was poetic
Center the man. Give him ever more than before. Retrain yourself to speak the lies so that you ignore your safety instincts. Do the emotional labour and don't expect us to. Budge up in your spaces and give up your nouns and your safe places. We are not the enemy, your wrong thinking brain is.

So inspired by you I made a few tweaks, hope you don’t mind my efforts:

Center the man.
Give him ever more than before.
Your instincts are something you can ignore.
Retrain your brain to speak the lies;
Do the emotional labour and don't expect us to.
We can do you better than you do.
Budge up in your spaces
And give up your nouns and your safe places.
We are not the enemy, your wrong thinking brain is.

I bet the OP thought he was going to get put on the highest of all pedestals for his right on preach to the world message.

Can it be the Portuguese type of custard tart? I love the slightly burnt bits. The sweet pastry nutmeggy kind of custard tart is also good though, obviously. All are delicious.

3dogs2cats · 19/08/2019 00:53

I love an egg custard tart.

Wurzelsnewhead · 18/08/2019 23:24

Treat?
Are trans people demanding strangers buy them chocolates or cakes when they see them now? Is this to ensure we don’t deny anyone their humanity?

Repeat after me ‘that’s nice dear’. Set my grandma in good stead in the ‘gender bending’ era of the 70s.

We were watching tv at the weekend (some friend of ours ‘of a certain age’ and DS who is 15).

We went down a YouTube rabbit hole of 70s rock bands. The usual befrocked, long-haired blokes - DS was ‘ummmmm is that a woman? ‘Is that a transperson’ ‘is he - on no, she - still alive?’

We cackled then put on the New York Dolls. Son, this is back when a man could just throw on a dress and terrible make-up and no one batted an eyelid or got all political. And you could call him ‘he’ without him fainting or calling the police.
