Over 26k votes since Wednesday, 85% say no they would not date a TW. Seems to be mostly fairly balanced replies as well!

As I recall the men of Vintage Gay Toronto when the matter came up said something along the lines of 'our space is for gay men, not dysphoric women' and their spokesman added 'I have little care or concern for the opinions of trans activists, you can quote me'.

In short, like heterosexual men they just say 'no' and don't give a damn about the whining.

I see a lot of stuff about lesbians accepting trans women and the cotton ceiling etc, has there been any discussion about gay men and dating trans men?

Great to see the double standards of Twitter policing being called out.

Unfortunately, there are bits of homophobia on there though. A few comments about being attracted to women because they're 'correctly programmed by nature'

I know it's an old comedic trope that men can't tell the difference between women and transwomen but none of the heterosexual men I know in real life seem to have any problem doing so.

Even the most expensive surgically created facsimiies don't seem to fool them. They are aware that photo-shopped and carefully posed images online may be almost passable, but in the real world the movement, the proportions, the smell give it away.

I noticed at least one poster on that thread talking about pheromones, those sexual signals that we aren't even conscious of just cannot be manufactured.

Here’s one of the quotes, I can’t find the other.

You can't always tell who is and who isn't a trans woman, some of the hottest women alive are trans, only a gay man would be not attracted to any of them, that's just a fact

(Not a fact)

Deliriumoftheendless · 16/08/2019 11:15

I think there are men who identify as heterosexual but are attracted to transwomen. It takes all sorts to make a world. It’s not my business

BUT as others have said, at present there is a different response to straight men saying no than to lesbians saying no.

When this was posted in the other thread there were some comments from (I guess) a TRA who said twice that some Transwomen were the most beautiful, sexy women alive which riles me a bit because it suggests that good looks and sexiness are the way to be dateable. Again it’s a stereotype that women need to be sexy and desirable and nothing else is important.

Anyway, I won’t hold my breath for anyone to threaten to take a pretty baseball bat to these guys for saying no.

I like the comment "Would you ride a turtle if it told you it was a horse?".

littlbrowndog · 16/08/2019 10:59

Yes excatly

I saw many replies from men saying they were straight

And various other replies which we can’t say but weren’t abusive just stating the obvious

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 16/08/2019 10:47

As ever the most 'interesting' thing about this poll is the complete lack of men being banned from Twitter for pointing out XY individuals are men regardless of their belief in gender identities.

The double standard could not be more glaring.

FannyCann · 16/08/2019 10:46

And this thread too. LOL.

I was messaged to say it was 95% no for a long time then hijacked by trans

FormerMediocreMale · 16/08/2019 10:39

Most comments are that TW are not W but often put in terms not allowed by MN.

I think the 15% will include some curious TW and their allies wanting to know the results before the poll finished.
