I posted a link to this even some time ago and there have been various comments and more recently one for an organiser of the event which has been really interesting.

Then just now mumsnet have deleted it saying it is because it has a go fund me link in it.

Well I posted that some time ago and nobody said anything. And as I have also posted that on a number of other threads I apologise if they get deleted.

What is the problem.

We are trying to support Lesbians and some red tape that users aren't aware of do this hatchet job.

Why didn't you just deleted the post with the go fund me link.

If I believed in conspiracy theories I would say mumsnet has been nobbled by the lesbian erasure strand of transactivism.

Heavy handed and unecessary.

Great to see these lesbians speaking as we had to go before the end.

PegasusRex · 16/09/2019 21:02

Thanks Stumbledin for the feedback Smile all helpful.

For anyone who is interested the videos from the rally have started to be put up on youtube here and there are more to follow

Hi Pegasus Rex! So exciting to have our own Lesbian Strength contact - and speaker.

Sorry I didn't see any of the flyers, and on reflection realised how difficult it would be to write something that a casual reader would take on board - as women would have attended for different reasons. After all there may well have been some right wing tory Lesbians equally firm about what a lesbian is but maybe not so supportive of other politics - like feminism! Confused

So really interested in seeing what you had on the flyers - can you copy and paste here? And yes as someone said up thread, next time we could maybe print out a few of our own if funds are short.

Hope you dont mind taking advantage of you being on this thread to give some "feedback" or what I hope are positive ideas for next times. And appreciate everyone will have their own view point depending on their own experience and politics.

It was great that so much money was raised through the fundraiser but I think some women weren't aware that there was money to claim. Some women maybe didn't even think about trying to get there as they knew they couldn't afford the fares, or would need to find someone to take on the role of a main carer for one day, or childcare. So just saying maybe that info should be somewhere more prominent on the eventbrite page.

Also, it was great that there was a social, but as nobody knew about it in advance, so couldn't go as they would have booked tickets / made other arrangements on the basis of the event being advertised as ending at 5pm. And there may have been some women who could have come but didn't as they thought the cost of drinks and food at a hotel would be more than they could manage. Sad

Is it worth thinking about having a separate eventbrite page for a social, as this would not only alert women to the fact that there was one, but would give the organisers some idea of numbers. And if it meant having to charge entry have an option for women to pay for someone else's ticket. Venue could of course be tbc.

Just some thoughts, and I am sure when you meet up you will all be full of ideas. So thanks to all of you, and those who helped out, like the woman who looked after the sound system.

And for my special request of there being tea and cake when the march arrives at the rally was thinking how sad it is that the WI wouldn't want to have a stall as I understand they are all very woke.

Maybe the WRVS could come with a sturdy trolley and hand out sensible mugs of tea and rock cakes! Do they still even exist?

Flowers for all your work.

Afterthought: Hope that Sandra McNeill and Linda Bellow will also share their speeches. Nice to see that someone who used to be a revolutionary feminist www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3684791-The-Need-for-Revolutionary-Feminism-by-Sheila-Jeffreys-as-Radical-Feminism-was-too-liberal sharing a platform with someone who used to be seen as a socialist feminist. Lesbian Strength?

yes Juells. We were told we were shameful, on Saturday. It didn't occur to me to tell the helpful police about it.

PegasusRex · 10/09/2019 21:21

ah HotCheese hello! Thanks for your help with the banner and I'm sorry we didn't get to have a proper chat after.

HotCheese · 10/09/2019 20:35

@PegasusRex I believe I carried a banner with you.
I was terrified and could barely speak, and carrying the banner meant I had a “job” to do and didn’t walk away.
Thank you 💐

It was an excellent day, I’m so proud I was a part of it.

LangCleg · 10/09/2019 08:57

Lovely blog Pegasus.

Juells · 10/09/2019 08:51

Came across this item on Yahoo just now, and thought how differently abuse of gay men is regarded.

PegasusRex · 09/09/2019 23:11

sorry, i meant that we had them printed and were trying to hand them out on the march

newtlover · 09/09/2019 22:48

I agree about the flyers, I wasn't aware there were any available
maybe they could be made available in advance- I'd have been happy to print some off and bring them.

AverageAvenger · 09/09/2019 20:10

Those photos are really wonderful.

PegasusRex · 09/09/2019 20:00

I've written a blog about Saturday here

thank you for all the feedback we will meet to discuss it this week. We did have flyers but not many people took one

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2019 16:26

The link to the photos comes up broken for me. Was the photographer finally bullied into taking them down?

I had this problem the other day, but I could view them when they were posted by someone on my FB timeline, so no I don't think so. Must be a tech issue.

NonnyMouse1337 · 09/09/2019 12:55

While we were on the road, a bloke shouted at us from a pub doorway. 'I've got DVDs of you'.

Ugh.... arsehole.

Absolutely fantastic to see a lesbian only event and a healthy turnout though. I hope there will be more organised up and down the UK.

BingBongSong · 09/09/2019 12:43

Wonderful photos on Facebook. It looked like a joyful day. I've read the comments too - poor photographer.

So great to see Linda Bellos marching.

Lippysoutherner · 09/09/2019 12:42

While we were on the road, a bloke shouted at us from a pub doorway. 'I've got DVDs of you'. Vile, yes, but a clear reminder of the need to march and to assert a strong lesbian identity away from the pornified notion of our orientation as a warm up act for 'real' sex. And oddly, less disturbing than being protested for being a dyke. The last time I was heckled like that was at London Pride , 1997. Thought we'd moved on.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 09/09/2019 12:27

I haven’t see the attacks but can imagine - just look at the protestors - man, man, man, man, man... can’t get a lumber between the lot of them. Bitter much?

Aspley · 09/09/2019 11:57

God that poor photographer guy has been copping some shit for photographing some lesbians?!

I am actually quite shocked at the homophobia these people are infused with.

Apologies for forgetting his name but photographer man, please consider taking this abuse further (police if necessary, homophobia is a crime) but also there are journalists who could take this on these ridiculous people sending you abuse need exposed for being the vile creatures that they are.

No one should be protesting a group of lesbians holding a rally it's 2019 FFS. They certainly should not be targeting a photographer recording the event, they want to silence and shame us I cannot fathom why

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 09/09/2019 11:45

Can anyone explain what happened to Naomi Wolf? Had she been kidnapped and replaced in come way? How has she gone from feminist to ... I don’t know what the hell they are now...

littlbrowndog · 09/09/2019 11:33

Still there for me umbel

umbel · 09/09/2019 11:30

The link to the photos comes up broken for me. Was the photographer finally bullied into taking them down?

Whatisthisfuckery · 09/09/2019 11:23

I think it would be great if lesbians and gay men could march together, but saturday was not the time. It was a lesbian strength march, and inclusion of any men would have meant it was no longer about lesbians.

Isn’t this what this whole thing is all about, not wanting men in female and lesbian spaces? Lesbian erasure and the homophobia of the trans cult are two different, if related, issues, and saturday was about lesbians. Why can’t gay men organise their own event? Because they don’t care enough on mass and they can’t be arsed, that’s why, so why should we include them in ours?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 09/09/2019 11:18

They don’t like lesbians. Maybe if they, y’know, put on a bit of lippy and a skirt, and slept with men...

ScrimshawTheSecond · 09/09/2019 11:17

That a photographer is being attacked for taking pictures of a march is absurd. He wasn't, apparently, attacked for his pictures taken earlier that day of the Tommy Robinson march. Only the one of lesbians. How strange.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 09/09/2019 11:17

Men have been trying to silence women since Adam and Eve (I like to think that earlier societies actually revered women - them mysteriously giving birth and all).
