It's bizarre as when I googled for that article, I found (them?) via a search entitled "non binary actress" after trying the actual non binary terms.

I haven't read this yet but there's new research relating to ASD and Dysphoria.

Yes, it's also been my observation that for some reason a "non-binary" identity seems to require breast removal, which to me makes little sense.

My intuition is that a lot of these young women are actually going for a sort of willowy androgynous look, like Twiggy or young Kate Moss, or even David Bowie. Though I don't know if that would be very conscious. It seems kind of shallow compared to things like being uncomfortable with the sexuality implied in more womanly breasts, but there is something in that aesthetic that seems to bother a lot of young women. Even older ones, it's harder to fit clothes, it can feel almost matronly. In that sense I wonder if it isn't similar to the way some anorexic girls are attracted to a similar look.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/08/2019 21:53

I'm so so sorry to read about your daughter Android. I'm shocked that your school could do that.

I used to be quite laid back about the non binary stuff till I saw this article. I'd come across it before but something about the way this was being glamorised really shocked me.

Unilever endorses mastectomies on healthy young women.

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 20:14

men don't!

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 20:13

I guess it makes sense because womem traditionally seem to hate/dislike their bodies and mean do not!

OldCrone · 13/08/2019 20:08

I was thinking about people like the first person mentioned in this story.

www.itv.com/news/2019-08-09/how-crowdfunding-is-fast-track-to-surgery-for-transgender-patients-stuck-in-waiting-game/

Melz Yaa has never wanted to be bracketed as a man or a woman and considers themselves non-binary in gender.

Despite knowing they were transgender from a young age, Melz faces the prospect of being 30 before even meeting a surgeon who can remove their breast tissue.

This seems to be the typical female non-binary path now.

For male non-binaries, who seem to be less common than the female ones, there seems to be no such need for body modifications.

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 19:19

OldCrone "Sadly, a lot of female non binary people seem to feel the need to have mastectomies and take testosterone." That is true. There are various non-binary trans people around but I think non- binary really is about identifying as neither. But everything goes now! Apparently!

OldCrone · 13/08/2019 18:28

Sadly, a lot of female non binary people seem to feel the need to have mastectomies and take testosterone.

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 18:27

N/B non binary, gender fluid

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 18:26

I should explain, being N/Not gender fluid coukd mean that girls don't need to identify as girks but don't need to identify as boys (or women and men in the case of adults).

I think it could take away the to me scarier aspects of hormones and surgeries. Since they ate not becoming someone else, so to speak.

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 14:37

TheAndroidSea not derailing at all.

I do hope she comes out the other side.

I am not a fan of the whole non-binary thing but I do wonder for very confused girls of it may provide an 'out'. I prefer gender fluid!

TheAndroidSea · 13/08/2019 11:12

Exactly, this is an obsession that hasn’t faded. We’ve been to the Tavistock. My dd is incredibly articulate and intelligent but can’t see the damage that is being done. We are CIS and we don’t understand, she pities and condemns us. I do still feel that one day she may come out the other side and see that a lot of this is wrong. I don’t care what she identifies as. Sorry for derailing.

emerencemaybehopeful · 13/08/2019 10:49

Not 'get'. FWR.

FFS autocorrect

emerencemaybehopeful · 13/08/2019 10:48

@TheAndroidSea there are a few mothers here (get) who have had children come out as trans. Many are autistic girls. The stories are all so similar and heartbreaking. I'm so sorry.

I have an autistic daughter. My alarm bells started ringing 3 years ago when I realised how many autistic girls seemed caught up. As someone said somewhere - prising an austistic individual from their special interest is tricky at the best of time. And genderism seems a common special interest.

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 10:33

@TheAndroidSea I am so sorry. If you ever want to chat you can message me.

NellieEllie · 13/08/2019 10:13

@TheAndroidSea so sorry to hear about your DD. I have a son with ASD and the way these children are being preyed on makes my blood boil. How CAN so many people be so utterly stupid. My DS used to have meltdowns when his socks left an imprint on his ankle. He would sob at the thought of growing taller. How desperately hard then for young girls with ASD to cope with the dramatic changes of puberty, and to go suddenly into an arena of the male gaze. Shame on the NAS who should provide leadership to protect our children instead of colluding with the whole tragic travesty.

NellieEllie · 13/08/2019 10:07

It’s horrific, like some dreadful horror film about cults taking over (it IS a cult taking over). Can’t believe the school recommended psychologist didn’t speak out. Appalling cowardice for a professional. What chance do kids have if the professionals who aren’t meant to safeguard throw their hands up because they are scared of the fallout?
I was thinking the other day, what on earth explains this mass hysteria/gaslighting/ denial of reality? All I could come up with was massive conspiracy to sterilise a generation of children to reduce the human population. Completely barmy of course, but that is going to be the outcome if it goes on like this. It’s truly chilling.

TheAndroidSea · 13/08/2019 09:55

@Italiangreyhound
She’s still struggling with gender issues, doesn’t want to be a boy anymore but gets very angry if referred to as female in any way. Very oppositional in many ways. Dropped out of all education and is working a very part time job. My heart breaks for her. She is so clever and has hardly any qualifications. I just want her to be happy and settled and I feel her teenage years have just been all about trans issues and mental health problems and autism. She’s 18 now and I have no idea what the future holds for her but the trans ideology dominates everything.
I have another child at the school now and he says many kids identify as trans there and get treated as my DD did, it’s more commonplace now.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/08/2019 08:25

On a slightly different tangent, and not wishing to derail, I do think there needs to be some action around the NAS and the tripe they're spouting as this is where where will end up.

(just perhaps after the school hols!)

Italiangreyhound · 13/08/2019 01:37

@TheAndroidSea I am so sorry to hear that. How is your daughter doing now. We have a young trans person in wider family but the school were very open with parents and so was the young person so not the terrible shock you got. I do hope all is OK for your child.

TheAndroidSea · 13/08/2019 00:58

Jesus. I could have written this four years ago. Autistic and very intelligent 14yo, no previous signs of wanting to be a boy. School changed her name on all the registers and forms to male name. They bent over backwards to be inclusive and basically let my daughter guide them. Everything from school reports to parentpay was in the male name. I did not consent to any of this. She dropped out of school altogether by 15.

Catinaflap · 13/08/2019 00:13

Flowers Insulated, it's happened to my autistic daughter too...

KatvonHostileExtremist · 12/08/2019 23:14

Could it really get worse for his daughter? That young person is about to change their body forever on the idea that they somehow need fixing. They are neurodiverse ffs. It won't "fix" anything.

It's terrifying.

Maniak · 12/08/2019 22:58

I can't believe he wrote about his daughter like that, under his own name in a national news service. How's that going to affect her?

Voice0fReason · 12/08/2019 22:13

This is bloody horrific. These poor girls don't stand a chance.
