I just want to know one thing:

If sex is a spectrum / non-binary / non-existent / more complicated than biology 101 you bigot

and

there are so many more passing males identifying as trans than we could possibly imagine / we're all constantly and without noticing using women's facilities alongside such passing males just quietly getting on with their life / passing so well in fact that slapping a woman who may or may not use their previous name is totally justified because no one would ever know otherwise that they're male

and

Expecting a trans person to defy the gender norms of their own sex or adopt opposite sex ones in any way (either by appearance, behaviour or expression) is totally outdated and transphobic

How on earth does he know he freaked out a "cis woman"?

And not

  • a passing male who identifies as trans,
  • a male who transitioned medically but now identifies as non-binary,
  • a non-passing female who identifies as trans or
  • a feminine presenting non-binary female

(plus any of the other 1000 genders)

I mean how does he know?

It's almost like us being able to recognise the sex of other humans is a thing, no?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 09/08/2019 18:51

Fraggling not your comment no, I got what you meant.

I was referring to those who say women have nothing to worry about from a male bodied person in a dress who just happens to have a sword.

If women are frightened believe them.

AnotherAdultHumanFemale · 09/08/2019 18:46

"a transwoman/male bodied person doesn't want anything to do with me in the toilet - they just need a wee"

"So do I and their need absolutely does not trump mine. There are toilets available for male-bodied people and they can use them. They have no need whatsoever to be in mine."

Seconded Alltheprettyseahorses! If males (and that includes transwomen) colonise our toilets, we have nowhere to go. That's a basic human right denied.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 09/08/2019 18:26

Fraggling you are right. I would edit that if I could. It is wrong to say that stranger-attacks are “very rare.” They happen too often - including in public toilets.

Alice was that in response to my comment?

Michelleoftheresistance · 09/08/2019 16:48

This increasing presence of (girlified) weapons is inevitable considering this is an unstable and volatile group who have been indulged, excused and enabled in their verbal threats and threat displays, and supported in labelling the non compliance of women as justifiably hurtful and violent towards them. Of course it's escalated. Offenders start with minor pushes and if they get away with it and its rewarding, they escalate.

It will end in a weapon being used, of course it will, and it won't be anyone under the Stonewall umbrella who is injured or killed. It will be squarely the responsibility of utter muppets like Stonewall, Ruth Hunt and Penny Mordaunt and our Speaker of the House. If these muppets think the general public are going to get any happier and more relaxed about transgender ideology through this kind of threat display behaviour OR if one of their less stable number tips over into acting out their fantasies then they're in for a rude shock.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 09/08/2019 16:32

Telling women that a TW with a sword in the ladies loo is nothing to worry about is gaslighting.

Fraggling · 09/08/2019 10:49

Just wanted to pick this up

'Women and children are only very rarely sexually assaulted or killed by men they don’t know.'

This isn't true.

Women and girls are mainly victims of men known to them

But sexual assault by strangers is very common
Murder less so, thankfully.

Jayaywhynot · 09/08/2019 10:47

A sword carrying dude in a dress in the ladies loo and she was wrong to leave?? These people need a kick up the arse

Juells · 09/08/2019 10:38

It isn’t up to women to have to decide who is a scary TW or who is harmless because they shouldn’t be in there in the first place that is the whole point.

^^ this. Which is why I'm sick of the 'lovely old transsexuals that quietly used the ladies and nobody noticed or minded" line. Who says nobody noticed or minded?

Red, I've mentioned before that on FWR I get so many ads aimed at gay men (for gay cruises is the main one), I've always assumed that it indicates how closely this section is being monitored by men.

Alwaysgrey · 09/08/2019 10:36

I’m Always on alert and feel awful I have to teach my girls this. They’re 12 and 10 and sometimes go to the loos alone when we eat out. But self I.d concerns me. Not genuine trans women but predators who will use this to gain access. My oldest has asd is especially vulnerable. I know a lot of men are good but this whole movement affirms how women’s rights don’t matter and how privileged men are.

If I saw anyone with a sword in a loo I’d leave. I know it’s awful but I would feel uncomfortable sharing a loo with someone who has a penis. Regardless if that penis owner was wearing a dress.

FormerMediocreMale · 09/08/2019 10:25

Red that is extremely concerning.

RedToothBrush · 09/08/2019 10:20

Littlbrowndog I've stuck a thread on site stuff about what's just happened.

I'm gobsmacked and considering contacting (my rather useless) MP over it.

littlbrowndog · 09/08/2019 10:14

What the hell red.

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/08/2019 10:14

Oops sorry x-post

Thank you, that’s so great to hear!

I think that would ensure everyone can feel safe and respected.

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/08/2019 10:12

Another would you be good with (1) women’s and (2) mixed sex, as per my proposal?

Cause that would solve the whole bathroom debate forever Grin

Anotherusefulname · 09/08/2019 10:12

If it makes other women feel more comfortable then of course I am for separate women's and Gender Neutral toilets.

In fact maybe that would mean less of a queue for women like me who aren't bothered we can just nip in what used to be the mens.

Its a Win Win

zebrasdontwearbras · 09/08/2019 10:10

I think gender neutral and ladies only is a good compromise.

If the people with with the penises, and the swords, could use the gender neutral, that would be great.

Anotherusefulname · 09/08/2019 10:08

lordamighty

Yeah, I get what they are but as I said, I am not scared of men I wouldn't be afraid to be standing on a train platform with one, I wouldn't be afraid to walk across a empty car park near one. It stands to reason I wouldn't be scared of one in the toilets.

As I said I completely appreciate that I am lucky to not feel vulnerable or like I am looking over my shoulder on alert all the time.

I appreciate that a lot of women do feel like that, but I work on the assumption that most people, whatever their sex or gender identity are good and just want to get on with their lives.

Much like when we say "a spider doesn't want anything to do with you he is just looking for food" to a frightened child. Well a transwoman/male bodied person doesn't want anything to do with me in the toilet - they just need a wee.

RedToothBrush · 09/08/2019 10:07

This thread subject is disturbing enough.

However what's even more scary is how adverts that must be interacting with the thread title.

The Advertising Algorithm has obviously picked up the word 'sword' because its trying to advert Handmade Katana UK to me. Complete with images of swords.

See screenshot.

Now that's quite frightening to see as someone concerned about violence.

But it also concerns me, because the same algorithm will be advertising in other places and other forums.

Is this going on in the US with guns?

In the UK I thought there would at least be better control over this or reputable advertisers would not permit weapons to be advertised in a targeted way, because of how that might play out and to whom these weapons might be being promoted to.

People who approve of what those tweets are about are also being targeted for adverts for swords. Or people who glorify violence in anyway are being actively micro targeted just for clicking on something that says 'swords' in the title.

If we have any intention of tackling online extremism or violence against vulnerable groups then how the hell can this be thought of as OK?

I find this extremely alarming and concerning.

@MNHQ
I don't know if there is anything that can be done from your side about advert suppliers who think it appropriate to target weapons in this way, but I'd be delighted if you could or at least give it some thought and reflection.

This can not possibly be a good thing considering domestic violence, rising crime against minorities and rises in knife crime particularly involving teenagers.

I'm shocked.

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/08/2019 10:05

Another that’s great you feel that way - do you think would you be fine with two options, viz:

  1. Gender neutral
  2. Female

So if places cannot provide GN in addition to M and F, they can convert their male toilets to gender neutral.

Women who need them could use (2). Women who don’t mind mixed-sex could use (1) if they want?

RoyalCorgi · 09/08/2019 10:02

What would be funny - if it wasn't so terrifying - is that the schtick they repeat over and over again is that trans women don't pose a threat to women. That women shouldn't be frightened to have trans women in their spaces. That to imagine trans women pose a threat is "transphobic".

And then they prove their point by repeatedly issuing violent threats against women and posing with knives.

Lordamighty · 09/08/2019 09:56

Anotherusefulname Transwomen are adult male transsexuals & shouldn’t be using the ladies toilets at all. If they wanted to campaign for their own bathroom facilities I wouldn’t object.

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/08/2019 09:53

Juells they are male but I believe have changed their documents to “F”. So in that state he is legally entitled to use the women’s restroom.

TM usually look totally different - they can look very masculine but somehow not scary / threatening like this person.
