The daily grind of entitled wankers

A slightly unusual question for the board

I’m looking at driving again after a very long time. Today I had a refresher lesson. It was nice. But I did find myself wondering, will my world contain more or fewer entitled wankers if I’m driving again? As opposed to frequent public transport and a cab about once a week?

This may be the maddest question on the board but ...life is so full of arses.

I swap between driving my little city car and a much larger car (typical business man type car).
I notice a massive difference in the entitled wankers' behaviours.
It's almost as if small cars driven by women are not allowed in the outside lane. It's not as if I drive at different speeds in the 2 cars (as I always go a bit too fast on the motorway) so I can only put it down to the type of car.

@JellySlice You are spot on about crash test dummies. Read this! Enlightening and terrifying in equal measure.

In response to your Q OP, it's odd, sometimes I don't come across any twats on the road and some days it's none stop! It's like flying ant day! Me and DP call it 'drive like a dickhead day' Grin

Hmm. IME it depends to some extent what sort of car you drive. I found the number of entitled wankers I encountered decreased when I changed from small hatchbacks to midsized.

I found this, but going the wrong way. Drives me nuts, why do people drive right up your arse even you can't go anywhere because of the car in front?

I find driving wankers seem more dangerous, whereas public transport wankers can be very immediately annoying.

JellySlice · 07/08/2019 18:59

I was thinking of seat position and foot pedals really.

Can you adjust the steering wheel?

JellySlice · 07/08/2019 18:58

I generally find myself able to blank out public transport wankers, but it's much harder when the wanker is at the controls of a tonne of deadly machinery.

IIRC, the crucial safety issue is that your chest needs to be at least 10" away from the centre of the steering wheel for the airbag to deploy safely and effectively. For 'chest' read 'sternum', as no doubt this was tested using male-standard test-dummies. I daresay nobody tested to see the effect of airbags on breasts that reduce that 10" distance.

I was thinking of seat position and foot pedals really. I remember my instructor told me the point where I was comfortable was too close, and this guy was saying exactly the same.

I'm 5'1" - while some aspects of most cars aren't ideal, they're not all terrible. All round parking sensors help with the issue of not being able to see the bonnet, for instance.

“I found the number of entitled wankers I encountered decreased when I changed from small hatchbacks to midsized”

I can believe that, yes.

Something else I forgot, cars aren't designed for short arses are they? They’re designed for people who are six foot, not five foot.

I suppose I just wondered because I’d forgotten what it can be like out there

I met the instructor at an industrial estate. I was early, there was a security guard who asked me why I was there. No problem, literal,to his job. He then went into

Where are you from

I think I’ve seen you here before

Why are you learning to drive again

Are you married

Etc etc

Then the instructor arrived. They know each other, of course. They had bantz.

Then the instructor spent so much of the lesson wanting to talk about cars and not drive, it was....bizarre. Fortunately we drove around a bit, which was nice. I haven’t forgotten how to drive.

But I just thought....all the road wankers....which type of wanker is less annoying? I had forgotten about men trying to race you, trying to cut you up because how dare you be a woman in a car....etc etc.

I find there are a lot of entitled wankers on public transport so if you can put up with that you should be fine on the road!
