Because she's being quoted as an expert in this article.

Summary of circumstances surrounding Jayden Lowe's death at 18 years old:

"So, let me get this right.

A child who had been unpopular and bullied, who had Asperger's, was same sex oriented and was self-harming joined a school Pride club run by a transgender teacher and became persuaded that all their unhappiness was due to their "gender identity".

The Tavistock sent them a leaflet telling them to expect to be suicidal.

They got powerful drugs from an unlicensed clinic which addressed none of the underlying issues of a spectrum diagnosis, burgeoning sexuality, or self harm.

And the outcome was tragic.

This is absolutely horrendous. My heart goes out to the parents."

Indeed Floral, quite something to take issue with quoting the key findings of such an important paper by Professor Carl Heneghan (lead Oxford University Evidence Based Medicine) published in the BMJ.

BMJ "a weekly peer-reviewed medical journal. It is one of the world's oldest general medical journals. Originally called the British Medical Journal"

Still kind of agog at this thread. I mean, of all the threads to bump and have a narc meltdown on, this one? This is why feminists have actually made inroads in the past few months. Despite a few wily people, TRAs seem to have a bizarre need to champion the very worst aspects of their religion's practice, thereby sawing off the branch they're sitting in. It's so odd.

A Cambridgeshire mum is calling for a new inquest to question doctors who were found to be offering unregulated hormone treatments online

A heartbroken Cambridgeshire mum of a transgender teenager who took his own life is calling for a second inquest after finding out he had hormone treatment from unregulated online doctors.

Jayden Lowe, 18, paid £30 a month for private therapy after facing a six-year wait with the NHS, his inquest heard.

Married doctors Mike and Helen Webberley have both received an interim suspension by the British Medical Council pending an investigation, after they set up their unregulated gender treatment service.

Jayden received hormone treatment in the post for "a few months" before he stepped in front of a train on September 28, 2018."

All of the cases which made up the basis for Dr Mike Webberley's suspension were young females.

Gender Gp were also involved with the treatment of a young female who tragically died by suicide.

Last year the parents were calling for a second inquest/inquiry.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 11:09

IIRC one of the complainees was from a rival gender business!

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 11:08

Like I said, the suspension made no difference to existing patients and for new patients it just means self funding the prescription costs via an online mail order chemist that Webberley either co owns or gets kick backs from. Some GPs will find blood tests as a form of ‘harm reduction’ but others want nothing to do with any of it and patients either collect their own blood through a finger prick kit or go to one of the few drop in sexual health clinics that offer blood testing for LGBT people.

I’m pretty sure the business operation if the Webberleys is illegal, but no one knows whose jurisdiction it is. The GMC obviously can’t do anything and maybe the Spanish police of GMC equivalent are less bothered because the people taking the meds aren’t in Spain?

The internet has created all kinds of situations that the law is yet to catch up with. I suspect this is one of those things. Like, if Webberley was importing or exporting testosterone, that would be criminal, but because they are partnered with a chemist who presumably has the correct license it's a loophole.

That is pretty far down the rabbit hole, Berg - let’s hope your ex friend’s child is better at handling exogenous testosterone than our recent visitor!

R0wantrees · 05/03/2020 11:03

this parent ranted about the GMC and anyone who had reported the Webberleys.

One was a psychiatric nurse responsible for the care of a young female patient.
NHS had declined to prescribe.
Mike Webberley went ahead.
The psychiatric nurse reported in the context of Duty of Care to the patient.

(this information was provided by the Webberleys' PR person at the time of Dr Mike Webberley's suspension)

R0wantrees · 05/03/2020 10:58

How far down the rabbit hole do you have to be to NOT think "shit, these doctors are not legit, what might I be doing to my child?" when that sort of news breaks?

The Webberley's have been & continue to be feted and supported by many prominent trans rights activists, organisations, charities & medical practitioners from overseas who are regarded as being 'the experts'.

The narrative has been constructed that UK is lagging behind North America/Australia.
Confirmation bias is very powerful.

OnlyTheTitOfTheLangBerg · 05/03/2020 10:50

I have a former friend whose teenage child is trans and receiving either PBs or possibly, now, CSH prescriptions from the Webberleys. When they were suspended/Helen W found to have acted illegally, this parent ranted about the GMC and anyone who had reported the Webberleys. Then a few days later posted that they were still going to be able to get the drugs because the Webberleys had set up in Spain.

How far down the rabbit hole do you have to be to NOT think "shit, these doctors are not legit, what might I be doing to my child?" when that sort of news breaks?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/03/2020 09:33

I'm totally appalled that the situation you describe is legal, DuLang. We have registered, qualified doctors and a GMC with oversight etc for very good reasons - to protect people from unscrupulous criminals who are willing to sell drugs to anyone who wants them.

Taxpayers are funding patients ordering drugs from overseas to circumvent the NHS' safeguarding effectively, is that right? Amazing.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 09:21

And coming to defend Webberley, via bumping an old thread that contains very unflattering information, is spectacularly stupid.

Now it’s back on the front page.

Webberley’s business has hardly changed by the way. They still prescribe without actually meeting the patient. They claim prescriptions are signed by licesnses European doctors but the prescriptions are all filled by the online chemist Webberley has a business relationship with, so no one knows who is actually signing the things and no doctors are named on the website.
The only real difference that the suspension has made is that many GPs are now unwilling to enter into a ‘shared care’ agreement, so the NHS is not prescribing. Patients who already had a shared care agreement in place before the suspension are continuing to have their medications supplied by the NHS.

popehilarious · 05/03/2020 09:12

I'm just wondering why some groups of people think it's ok to go to an internet forum, assume the trans/otherwise status of people there, insult them based purely on the incorrect assumption of said status, assert that trans children deserve to be treated by criminal, suspended doctors, refuse to answer reasonable questions about their assertions and call tedious misogynistic insults. Then will presumably go on ad nauseum about how those ppl were disgusting rude bigots with not so much as a glimmer of self awareness as to their own behaviour.

Datun · 05/03/2020 09:07

I'm amazed that ppl whose thoughts are apparently dominated by gender issues get confused on this very basic point.

It seems many people spouting the same nonsense aren't used to hearing a woman say, er no.

popehilarious · 05/03/2020 09:03

Cw was asked what skirts had to do with being female. He replied about why they are feminine.
No explanation as to what being feminine has to do with being female. I'm amazed that ppl whose thoughts are apparently dominated by gender issues get confused on this very basic point.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 05/03/2020 08:12

Just caught up...that went from 0 to 60 really quickly!

DickKerrLadies · 05/03/2020 07:25

But noooo, it's women on FWR who are mean, nobody else.

DickKerrLadies · 05/03/2020 07:23

Always with the name calling. Funny that.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/03/2020 07:18

Im always happy to hear from people who might be able to offer a different perspective. I keep thinking that there must be something more to this than 'I feel like my body doesn't align with the arbitrary standards of dress and behaviour assigned to my sex'. But I'm yet to hear anyone make a convincing case. "Hard to explain ' doesn't amount to enough to base policy, law, health treatment and education On, really.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/03/2020 07:01

It's interesting how personal anecdote is seen as 'fact' , while articles from the BMJ are dismissed as 'something off the internet ' . Another side effect of this solipsism, I suppose - post-expert, post-modern, post-truth. Critical thinking should be taught in schools as a matter of urgency.

SunkissesBringBackLangCleg · 05/03/2020 06:56

Blimey that was some meltdown! They go from sickly-sweet, apparently polite and rational 'let me educate you' to 'you evil bints' within a few posts if anyone so much as dares quote the BMJ!

Datun · 05/03/2020 06:27

To be fair I think it’s one of those terms that can be construed either way but it was posted quite casually so I thought I’d mention it in case people started to use it in real life!

KF often use words or expressions that I've never heard and have to piece together from context. But yes, I'd hesitate to repeat their colloquialisms elsewhere, given their offence meter doesn't exist.

But thanks for the heads up.

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 05/03/2020 05:52

Puberty blockers only stop the physical aspects of puberty taking hold such as breasts in girls, voice breaking in boys, facial and body hair in boys.

Brain and bone development is dramatically retarded by puberty blockers as well as other serious side effects.

Such a relief to know that the Webberley suspension has been continued. Our children deserve better than to be treated as guinea pigs in a mad doctors lab.

EverardDigby · 05/03/2020 05:29

I assume it came from the book The Chimp Paradox www.amazon.co.uk/Chimp-Paradox-Management-Programme-Confidence/dp/009193558X though I can believe it's been used in a racist way by others.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 05/03/2020 03:00

To be fair I think it’s one of those terms that can be construed either way but it was posted quite casually so I thought I’d mention it in case people started to use it in real life!

Chimpout is a term used (often in 4chan) in order to refer to angry behavior by black men, Although the term has grown to signify any type of irrational violent behavior regardless of race or affiliation.

The word has gained popularity on the internet among white supremacist.

Origin
Earliest use of the word come from white supremacist sites such as chimpmania, Stormfront and chimpout.com

^^ That’s what I found. A YouTube search using the phrase brought up less than savoury results too Sad
