Jonny Best to be investigated for transphobia by Uni of Huddersfield

Some kind soul at University of Huddersfield has initiated a formal complaint against me for contravening the uni's social media and trans equality policies with my 'transphobia'. Here is the info passed to me today - note the attempt to smear me with mention of 'victimisation'.
...
But the worst crime I'm accused of is 'associating positively' with Glinner
Let me be clear: I will 'associate positively' with Graham for as long as he wishes to 'associate positively' with me.

Yes - a formal warning on @JonnyBest 's record would be tantamount to saying, "You've been cleared but the Uni is willing to be complicit with the intimidatory intention of this complaint and beyond the worrying and exhausting process you have still emerged with a demerit".

SO glad the complaint has been thrown and I hope the complainant has been suitably reprimanded for bringing it in the first place. Very glad too that Jonny isn't taking the formal warning lying down. He's right. There must be transparency in these situations.

Flowers Wine to Jonny.

Good for him!

MrGHardy · 18/09/2019 12:58

Hah 'went public with the details' means we are embarrassed about the whole thing and want to brush it under the carpet.

ArranUpsideDown · 18/09/2019 12:43

There's an update!

The complaint against me at University of Huddersfield has been thrown out; there is no case for me to answer. However, the university has issued me with a formal warning because I went public with the details. I am appealing this sanction immediately.

Article from the Post Millennial about the complaint. Looks like there's a hearing on Friday 9th August.

Best of luck Jonny. Loads of people are behind you. What a lot of nonsense.

PerkyPomPoms · 04/08/2019 00:38

Good luck

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 03/08/2019 17:04

Good luck Jonny

DuMondeB · 03/08/2019 16:37

What a load of utter bollocks this is.

Do let us know if we can help with anything (inc crowd funding for legal fees)?

OhtheHillsareAlive · 03/08/2019 16:23

Jonny , good luck. I’ve emailed you with some resources. Feel free to contact me at any time for advice. I’ve been there ...

Hulo · 03/08/2019 15:53

All the best Jonny

SophoclesTheFox · 03/08/2019 15:27

Good luck, Jonny! Fingers crossed for you.

JonnyBest · 03/08/2019 14:45

Just popping by to say thank you for all the words of support. I'm taking legal advice and will be meeting the university registrar investigator next week. When I have news of what is happening I will share it. Best wishes to all. Jx

The Rainbow Reich

Spot on.

I think it feels more like the cultural revolution at the moment. (Obvs not at the mass killing level). Which, when I read about it (from reading Wild Swans in the 90s) I always wondered how such a thing could happen, and people just go along with it, en masse. Now I know.

Dropping in Dr Em's latest:

Totalitarian regimes always target academics. A critical moment in the build up to the Holocaust and the Nazi consolidation of power was when academics were expelled for their political beliefs or Jewish heritage. Historian Richard Evans estimates that 15% of university teachers had lost their jobs by fall 1933.[9] Similarly, the Khmer Rouge executed academics who were not wholly in support of its ideology. Stalin followed suit and targeted intellectuals who were questioning of the regime. Norman Naimark has compared the Great Terror to the Cambodian Genocide and argued that they shared many of the same characteristics including ‘persecuting intellectuals and those who thought for themselves, in the name of a “clean slate”.[10] We are not at the level of mass-murder and imprisonment but an attempted purge of academics critical of transgender ideology is likewise underway in the West.

The mission creep of expelling individuals for ideas and wrong think has an alarming momentum and I can't think of a period in history when that has ended well.

TurboTeddy · 03/08/2019 11:44

In every one of those examples put forward by the complainant, Jonny says “ideology” but the complainant changes it to “people”. Remarkable that someone who has reached university-level education doesn’t know the difference.

That was my first thought too. Expelling people who make nonsense or vexatious complaints would be an idea but this individual clearly needs the education.

ArranUpsideDown · 03/08/2019 11:40

I don’t see how it has to be a student who complained. Could be anyone.

In the screenshot of the email JB received and reproduced on the Twitter thread it says:

I'm contacting you on behalf of a student who wishes to remain anonymous due to fear of victimisation, but who came to me to report repeated transphobic behaviour from a music PhD student and music tutor, Johnathan Best.

Jonny if you’re reading this - we are all with you. Flowers

nicenewdusters · 03/08/2019 10:33

Oh the horror !!! To be living in the West, at a university, in the most lawful, prosperous and healthiest period of history, and to be so victimised! That not everyone agrees with you about what you think. Oh the danger to your mental health.

Maybe you need to go to an institution where you can mix with a wide range of people, air your views, listen to others, read great books, learn some history, expand your mind. Oh hang on.......

Wipe the floor with them JB.

"Aaaaand as if by magic, here mimmymum is, playing the "transphobia" and "harassment" card.

Didn't Mimmymum teach people anything? You can't just drag transsexuals into court claiming "transphobia" and "harrassment" when you want - you will have the case thrown out out of court, be denied the anonymity you asked for, and the cps will be ordered to pay to pay costs. You will also look very foolish and have to lock your twitter account for months until you hope everyone's forgotten about it."

Fixed mimmymum's tweet for her.

NotBadConsidering · 03/08/2019 10:04

Waves to Mimmymum! Are you living vicariously through this complainant Helen? Hoping they succeed where you failed, so utterly and miserably?

ZebrasAreBras · 03/08/2019 09:59

Ah yes, Mimmymum who dragged a transsexual through a 10 month court process, and who was then utterly humiliated in court.

Let us never forget the mimmymum court calamity.

SunsetBeetch · 03/08/2019 09:54

Mimmymum from Mermaids, whose "trabsphobia" case against Miranda Yardley was thrown out, weighs in. Strangely she mentions Tommy Robinson rather than Miranda...
