Jonny Best to be investigated for transphobia by Uni of Huddersfield

Some kind soul at University of Huddersfield has initiated a formal complaint against me for contravening the uni's social media and trans equality policies with my 'transphobia'. Here is the info passed to me today - note the attempt to smear me with mention of 'victimisation'.
...
But the worst crime I'm accused of is 'associating positively' with Glinner
Let me be clear: I will 'associate positively' with Graham for as long as he wishes to 'associate positively' with me.

And the student who complained had been a friend, according to Mr Best's account on Twitter. Appalling. I can't imagine the mental exhaustion from this process.

JosephineBaker · 07/03/2021 18:33

Uni of Huddersfield’s statement was “sorry not sorry”, the craven asshats.

persistentwoman · 07/03/2021 18:01

Great news. Yet another exposure of the extreme levels of intolerance and silencing that's happening. So pleased that they've been fined.

ArabellaScott · 07/03/2021 17:16

Glad of the outcome but it's appalling it happened in the first place.

ChattyLion · 07/03/2021 16:59

Missed the update!

ChattyLion · 07/03/2021 16:58

If Huddersfield don’t do the right thing then hopefully Universities UK, their umbrella group, will comment on this. Universities are cash strapped enough without having to waste admin time on complete nonsense.

Sophoclesthefox · 07/03/2021 16:40

Glad he got his apology, and hope things are good for him now.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 07/03/2021 16:32

“The process is the punishment”. No shit, Sherlock.

Jonny vindicated finally but only awarded a derisory 800 quid.

I hope he’s doing well

UPDATE: Huddersfield University is being made to issue an apology to Jonny Best and pay him compensation

£££££. Good.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 07/03/2021 15:18

It's interesting that this was taken to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator. This would have been an option available to Jonny as he is a student, but university staff who face this kind of thing don't have recourse to this.

Excellent spot. And very concerning and sobering in its restrictions. @JonnyBest was in a common position as both a tutor and a post-grad student - utterly bizarre that had he just been staff this might well have made this reasonable outcome impossible.

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/09/2019 13:24

Has he a familiar?

Check him for devil marks!

MockersthefeMANist · 18/09/2019 13:21

Didst thou consort with the Devil known as Glinner?

Was thou near him? Or wast he small and thou far away?

Answer!!!! Thou will thou will thou will.....

ScrimshawTheSecond · 18/09/2019 13:21

Excellent news re the complaint being thrown out, Johnny. I'm very relieved for you. I wonder if at some point there will be recourse against people making complaints in bad faith?

And good on you for challenging the warning, that's really poor behaviour on the part of the University.

Sunlight works.

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/09/2019 13:16

Well done Jonny.

Every time this exposed as the lunacy it is, people get less afraid.

And yeah, nuts to the 'don't tell anyone you've been accused of being a witch/communist/dancing with the devil at midnight'.
