Telegraph column - not even attempting to hide AGP

It’s behind a paywall, will post screenshots in next post

David Thomas is a 60 year old man, who according to his Telegraph column is still living as a man whatever that means. He is transitioning and he is writing about it in his weekly column. In the past he gave us Not Guilty: The Case in Defence of Men which is described as a rebuttal of feminist charges against men. So I think he’s established his misogyny credentials, which raises the question of why he wants to transition to emulate womanhood?

It’s so clear from the above article that it’s sexual arousal. He talks about his growing breasts in a clearly lascivious way. It’s not even gently disguised or denied. The AGP is front and centre in the article.

Yet we’re still not allowed to discuss it. We’re not allowed to point out that many men get off on the idea of being seen as a woman. They talk about it openly but the activists who seek to remove women’s rights shout us down as bigots for daring to raise it.

Those who are still championing the be nice/what harm can it do still seem to deny that it’s a driver. How? When it is this blatant how can it not be openly discussed and the risks/behaviours openly managed or challenged.

I really think this could be a case of the Telegraph allowing AGPs to be "hoisted by their own petard". No one else could right this because there would be such a pile on. This creep, totally lacking in any self awareness is showing this particular fetish in all its sorded glory.

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 10:58

It's win-win. Get all the money, all the access to women/girls and all the attention. and the chance to fondle pubescent breasts whenever they feel like it bauk

SingingLily · 03/08/2019 10:56

Davina, of course!

I'm with TimeLady on this. I'm a Telegraph subscriber and briefly considered cancelling on the basis of this (no words to describe) column but concluded that it's always better to know what "the other side" is thinking than not. The Telegraph has a GC line that manages to quietly shine through in articles about sport and science. This may not be new, of course. What is undoubtedly new is my sensitivity and thus taking notice.

Reading this column is, for me, like watching a slow car crash. I can't seem to help it. However, one thing does stand out for me. In virtually every column, he mentions his "friends" and, of course, the expensive professionals who are helping him to make his transition a success. This would include the voice coach who advised him to make his voice "a little whiny" if he wanted to pass as a woman. (Please note, I am using his current preferred pronouns).

What I cannot find in any of his columns is any mention of his ex-wife or his children. Their views are, at least so far, invisible. It means that when I read his latest revelation, my first thought is always, but always, of his children and the mother of his children. My heart breaks for them. And if that is the effect on other Telegraph readers (he sends my DH into an absolute fury), then it may be money well spent.

He could go for Davina keeping it close to David? He loves David so much he wont want to give up too much of David.

Maybe it's easier to stick with the same initial s? I'm going with Demelza or Delilah.

TimeLady · 03/08/2019 10:18

I wonder what his chosen womanly name will be. Margaret? Mary? Susan? Brenda? Or one of the other names bestowed on baby girls in the 1950s?

It's weird isn't it.

They are men when they want their inheritance or higher pay scales.
They are women when they want access to female spaces.
They are trans women when they want victim status and to claim the most oppression ever.

It's win-win. Get all the money, all the access to women/girls and all the attention.

Datun · 03/08/2019 09:53

so when he’s a “woman” he’s going to want to shag men.

According to Blanchard, was it? and, of course, any trans widow, the male partner is a 'prop'. Completing the fantasy they the AGP is indeed a woman. Because that's how we know of course.

It's all predictable isn't it?

nicenewdusters · 03/08/2019 09:45

Just remembered India Willoughby on Celebrity Big Brother proudly walking around topless discussing her new boobs with the other "girls". She had a very stereotypical pubescent attitude going on, "look at my boobs, hair cut, make up ......."

sackrifice · 03/08/2019 09:26

Similar to the unconscious conditioning that might lead someone to misread disgust at seeing an unexpected penis as an opportunity to force inappropriate jokey knob humour into a conversation.

It's like a 'genuine' male or female sorting hat.

If you find knob jokes funny and 'insert them' in whenever you can...then that makes you [insert sex of person that likes and makes knob jokes here].

And it isn't female.

TimeLady · 03/08/2019 09:15

Maybe he's channelling his inner Caitlyn? Peas in a pod clearly.

Oh wait, Caitlyn is very rich and part of a high-profile celebrity family...…..

LangCleg · 03/08/2019 09:14

who gets off on the idea of him as his own ideal woman

And has uncomfortable fantasies about pubescent and pre-pubescent development that lead to arousal. You'd not think that a suitable topic for humour on a parenting website, really, would you?

Sicario · 03/08/2019 09:10

I too am dismayed that the Telegraph is running this, and the language it is using. "Becoming a woman" is gaslighting bullshit as a man cannot "become" a woman. He is very clearly an AGP who gets off on the idea of him as his own ideal woman.

The terminology he uses is pretty sickening and creepy AF. And the idea that he will "pass" is totally delusional.

BretonDinosaur · 03/08/2019 08:55

He’s written about who he will shag once he’s transitioned. It’s a bit garbled and wonky tbh. He talks about men having sex with women being what he likes so when he’s a “woman” he’s going to want to shag men.

I felt a little sorry for him reading that because I really don’t think he’ll have much of a dating pool. And relief that he’s not going to be another of course.

But it’s still all about his desirability as a “woman” and wanting to have what he sees as womanly sex. It’s still the AGP

I'm also curious about a sixty-something-six-footer-with-A/B cup-breasts' potential dating pool.

That column is pencilled in for later:

“I’ve tried online dating, and as soon as lesbians find out I’m 60 years old and was assigned male at birth, their bigotry shines through”
Hmm

TheTitOfTheIceberg · 03/08/2019 08:26

For complicated work-related reasons I won't go into, I once had to spend far more time on a couple of particular porn websites than I ever could have wanted to (I worked in the criminal justice system at the time before anyone starts to Confused at me). Although this wasn't the particular area under investigation, I still remember being absolutely amazed at the numbers of what I now know to be AGPs writing their fantasies and experiences. It was a really notable proportion of users of the sites, calling themselves "sissies", referring to their anus as a "pussy" and describing in lascivious detail the feminine clothes - especially lingerie - they were wearing/wanted to wear. After that experience it wouldn't surprise me at all if a fair few of the Telegraph's core demographic read this column with more than intellectual interest. And I am absolutely horrified that "acceptance without exception" and that stupid fucking umbrella has legitimised an out and out sexual fetish and made it mainstream.

TimeLady · 03/08/2019 08:21

The Telegraph isn't renowned for publishing much in the way of trans material, so I'm wondering if the editorial stance is to give this bloke enough rope to peak trans the readership by his own words, without him even being aware he's doing so? After all, it can't be regarded as 'transphobic' if a trans person is writing all this creepy stuff about themselves, can it?

So when the next attention-seeker - or maybe even the next door neighbour - comes along, outing themselves, those readers might just recall this tawdry little tale and think about what's been really been going on behind the scenes with a little more insight. I think it provides a glimpse of the behaviour transwidows and their families have been expected to cope with too.

I'm also curious about a sixty-something-six-footer-with-A/B cup-breasts' potential dating pool. I'm a sixty-something-five-footer-with-A/B cup-breasts and I reckon I'm pretty invisible these days. If he is attracting attention, I very much doubt it's because everyone's thinking 'Whoaar", so perhaps it's just as well he seems so attracted to himself.

SophoclesTheFox · 03/08/2019 07:00

Another reaction of boak here.

Let’s have a more accurate title: “My amazing autogynephilic journey through objectifying women, writing about my fantasies about teenage girls’ breasts in a national newspaper, my astonishing misogyny and why you have to shut the fuck about it or you’re a bigot”.

Gross, gross gross. Get a room, David. With yourself.

SeaRabbit · 03/08/2019 06:38

Maybe the Telegraph has realised its readership has a lot of AGP in it, and it's seeking to inspire them. Or, and I think more likely, all papers like to have columnists who ruffle the feathers of the readership. I think it may be peak transing a lot more people though, as he's so creepy.

Ritascornershop · 03/08/2019 03:27

For the love of Christmas - in a daily paper? Not in the back pages of a fetish magazine/website. The whole world has gone mad.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 03/08/2019 02:32

Datun

It used to be some kind of gag for comics, didn't it? 'If I was a woman I'd never go out'.
Yep, just like 'lesbian trapped in a man's body hahahaha' was a bad joke in a crap pub.

How has this become legitimised as an experience to share in a mainstream newspaper?
Cos a man wanted it. Imagine the level of privilege, to be able to literally wank all over your own personal published column, staring down the nation and knowing you'll not only get away with it but be feted for it...

My father in law just turned 60, my daughter is a young teen. Fuck this guy. Fuck this world. incoherent rage noises
