Thanks popchyk that was my understanding too. Transsexual and transvestite, or cross dressing, are not the same thing.

If any man who likes to put on women's clothing now comes under the trans umbrella that makes a nonsense of women's rights but also trans' rights. As a number of transwomen have pointed out, this could do them real harm.

A man who is heterosexual but dresses as a woman when he feels like it - she feels like? - then demands gay women have sex with him because he/she is now a lesbian, that's rape talk. And it doesn't stop being rape just because a man is wearing a frock.

Didn't Aimee Challenor's father, David, abuse a ten-year-old girl while he was wearing a nappy?

I'm not saying all trans people are sick or in it for the abuse. Most aren't and most are harmed by this. What I am saying is that it seems reasonable to suppose that the trans movement has been hijacked by some predators who see this as a permission pass to find their prey.

The same thing happened in the 1970s and early 80s with PIE (Paedophile Information Exchange) which hijacked the gay rights' movement and was for a while affiliated to the NCCL - National Council for Civil Liberties later to become Liberty. And again, back then, people didn't like to question it because male homosexuality had only recently been decriminalised and right-on people were anxious to be right-on. And yes, it DID call itself the Paedophile Information Exchange. Campaigned to have the age of consent lowered to three. Ostensibly so children could express sexual love for each other; in reality so dirty old men could gain access to young girls and boys.

It's horrible - really really horrible - being able to see all this and being told to shut up and sit down. But least PIE never got the government stamp of approval! "Come in, sit down, how can we help? Oh you want to go into schools do you, fine, go right ahead. Oh you want to be the official body to advise charities and other organisations? No worries. Oh you want seven million pounds a year to run your office? Course! Sure that's enough?"

Feck SAKE what is WRONG with people in charge that they can't see this? Do we have to wait for another Jimmy Savile type scandal to erupt before everyone goes all, oh dear! Oh dear oh dear oh dear. How could this have happened! Well what did you THINK was gonna happen!

Juells · 01/08/2019 14:38

Alex goes into schools to educate children about gender identity and lesbianism.

Watching Sky News last night, with an item about the protests outside schools by Muslim parents, and the thought did cross my mind "I wonder what the children are really being told? We're expected to side with the schools, and tut tut at the ignorant parents who are shouting outside, but there have been secret recordings linked on here which demonstrated that the teaching isn't as anodyne as is being claimed.

Does anyone have a link to what is actually being taught to primary children?

Michelleoftheresistance · 01/08/2019 14:24

Did anyone else notice in the quote from the interviewed person that when they said 'Equality' they solely and exclusively meant 'Trans'? As if race, sex, disability, age etc no longer existed.

Politicians and journalists please copy: a hierarchy of protected characteristics has happened, is in practical on the street decision making and is regarded as legal despite being incompatible with British law. How did policy capture and enactment against the law happen on your watch? What harms is it causing that you're responsible for waving through if not actively supporting in your role? What are you going to do about it?

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 01/08/2019 12:58

Nah, it's acceptance without exception for penis, us cunty types can 'die in a grease fire' or something.

Of course back here in the real world they won't be accepted. Women will just self exclude and they still won't get the validation they seek. Meanwhile our world we be a little smaller and sadder.

LikeothersIamjustme · 01/08/2019 12:55

Can I not be 'accepted without exception' as a miserable cow who doesn't want to deal with bearded pervy blokes pretending to be women (or does it not work like that)?

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 01/08/2019 12:40

WTF?

Welcome to 'acceptance without exception'.

And to be clear on that Scottish Trans Alliance umbrella, when it says trans men and trans women, they mean people who identify as men or women. They don't have to make any medical or surgical changes obviously.

Alex Drummond identifies as a woman and as a lesbian. Wrote a book called "Grrl Alex: A Personal Journey to a Transgender Identity". This is Alex in the pic. Alex goes into schools to educate children about gender identity and lesbianism.

Alex says in this article:

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/meet-the-trans-woman-queering-gender-with-her-full-beard_n_55affb34e4b0a9b948538d24

"For a long time equality law and medicine set a very fixed way to be a "proper transsexual" and, for me, surgery and hormones could be risky. However, since the 2010 Equality Act, non-medicalized transition is now a protected characteristic. This makes a big difference".

Alex is on Stonewall's Trans Advisory Group.

This never happens.
Michelleoftheresistance · 01/08/2019 12:10

Also note the clear policy made for women:

  • You can put up and shut up
  • You can give up access to the service
  • You can be reported for a hate crime if you say a word or imply in any way that you have a problem with being oppressed.

Men:

Please do whatever you like regardless of how it affects anyone else and we've got the hate crimes forms ready to protect you from anyone else trying to have boundaries.

Michelleoftheresistance · 01/08/2019 12:05

Since identification can't be requested on the door, and the encouragement is that everyone pick the changing room of their gender preference at the door, any male walking into a female only space with whatever agenda walks in there has identified as trans and invoked trans protection by doing so. Women dealing with men being enabled to behave openly like this with all the negative effects and fear it invokes is not a bug in the ideology, it's a feature. Women are expected to just suck this up.

One of the many difficult facts the whole ideology tries hard to ignore.

And yes, the whole 'we did this for everyone to feel safe and secure' is mind boggling, since it really does mean 'we did this for MEN to feel safe and secure to do whatever the fuck they want'. Women aren't 'everyone' and their safety and security is of no importance to anyone. To the point the speaker said that and didn't even consider how very anti woman it was.

Again: spot the powerful people in this. And spot the people with no power, unseen, unheard, unimportant. Oppressors and oppressed.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 01/08/2019 12:00

The deliberate conflation of 'cross-dressing' with 'transsexual' is one of the more disturbing aspects.

I'm old enough to have grown up at a time when children were warned about cross dressing men, and if I remember rightly there is very good statistical reason for this. I'd have to double check the exact figures but if I recall rightly something like 60% of sex offenders list cross dressing as their primary paraphilia. Which, of course though I shouldn't have to say it, does not mean that all cross dressing men are sex offenders, but it was generally recognised in my youth that such men were 'dodgy' in a way transsexuals were not.

LikeothersIamjustme · 01/08/2019 11:55

Until I did more research (and ended up here) I assumed transgender meant someone who had undergone surgery to emulate the other sex (ie another word for transsexual). I think most people still think that. A man who has gone through all that surgery to 'pass' as a woman is a much less terrifying thought to have in your changing rooms than a fully intact male (with or without lipstick and a dress) who can be male or female on a whim. No doubt that it is deliberate so the majority do not know what they are agreeing to/letting happen.

Popchyk · 01/08/2019 11:53

Here's the Scottish Trans Alliance umbrella.

They make it clear that 50% of the 'transgender' community is made up of people who do not identify as the opposite sex.

Every organisation always deliberately include cross-dressers under the umbrella. They are always explicit about it. And they leave out the sex of the people cross-dressing. It is always "cross-dressing people" and not what they actually mean, which is "cross-dressing men".

This never happens.
Nicketynac · 01/08/2019 11:52

Shock at Glasgow Life encouraging anyone with concerns to speak to a member of staff so that the staff member can fill out a Hate Crime report!

Popchyk · 01/08/2019 11:45

That is the whole point of it, Lawlsie.

The trans lobby need to keep including more and more people under the term 'transgender'. The word transsexual (which meant someone who had medical and surgical intervention) gets changed to transgender. Deliberately so that people with absolutely no intention of changing their body can be considered as 'transgender'.

Stonewall trans umbrella. It includes both cross-dressers and transvestites to make it clear. It also includes "masculine women " and "feminine men" so some lesbians and gay men also get lumped under there.

This never happens.
PancakeAndKeith · 01/08/2019 11:39

Well they mean different things.
Transvestite means that you wear women’s clothes while still being male.
Transgender means that you identify as the opposite gender.

OP posts:
Lawlsie1976 · 01/08/2019 11:34

Yeah but are we still allowed to use either term? I thought everything had to be transgender now, or trans.

PancakeAndKeith · 01/08/2019 11:33

Cross dressing is a literal translation of transvestite.

OP posts:
Lawlsie1976 · 01/08/2019 11:30

The offender in the OP is male and a cross-dresser. Therefore transgender according to Stonewall and Glasgow Life.

Is the term transvestite now banned? I remember it changing to cross dresser, for people such as Eddie Izzard While Grayson Perry still calls himself a transvestite I think? Then we had the term transsexual for someone who has surgery to make them into the gender they feel they belong in. All now come under the transgender umbrella. I'm not sure if drag acts do too - do they still have the term drag acts and drag queens or are these now offensive?

I think it is misleading to group what we once called transvestites with transsexuals since they are not the same thing. Till this whole debate got going I thought transsexuals, now transgender, meant someone who'd had surgery and wanted to be treated as a member of the opposite sex to the one they'd been born into - assigned at birth as it's now referred to. I had no idea that most transwomen - I've seen the figure as high as 85% - retain the male genitals they were born with. And many are sexually attracted to women. I always understood the term transvestite to mean heterosexual man who wasn't gay but liked or was sexually aroused by wearing women's clothing. I hadn't heard of the term autogynephilia. Now some call themselves lesbians and it's a hate crime for a gay women to refuse to consider them in her dating pool.

I used to have many gay friends when I went to dance classes in the 1980s during the aerobics boom. Gender bending, as it was then called, was very popular and great fun. I suppose the term gender bending is also offensive now? But it's what we called artists such as Boy George and Annie Lennox who adored a dressing-up box.

Feels to me we've lost something very precious. I think Eddie Izzard now identifies as transgender and says he feels like a woman. So the new policed language means he is a woman if he says he is.

I miss the days when it wasn't like walking on eggshells to even dare to talk about this. How the hell did that happen? How did it become so toxic and so policed and so scary? Hell I remember reviewing a book called Men In Frocks all about camp and drag traditions. I suspect even that term may be verboten now.

I guess I'll soon find out!

Ah yes, the Edinburgh gym boss.

A gym boss at the University of Edinburgh has been accused of sending a message to other staff suggesting a female client should be 'raped'.

Had been "under investigation" for months until the Daily Record and The Sun printed articles.

He was sacked the next day. Apparently threatening female clients with rape takes a long time to investigate, but tabloids reporting on it make the university look bad. So very swift action as soon as the tabloids get involved.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 01/08/2019 10:48

My God, the sheer, unadulterated cheek of Glasgow Life.

A spokesman for Glasgow Life said: "Equality is at the very core of everything we do.

"We work to break down any barriers to access across our services and facilities, while ensuring that everyone can take part while feeling safe and secure.

Everyone? Only if you think 'everyone' does not include women and girls.

Really glad to see the Record using pictures that reflect the reality of the situation rather than the usual carefully selected and posed variety.

Juells · 01/08/2019 10:41

Couldn't help noticing the name of the gym boss in a linked article
www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/edinburgh-university-gym-boss-accused-14444721

Brain has been accused of sending the message shortly before Christmas to the staff messaging group set-up to arrange logistics.

🤔

"staff are urged to "use the Hate Crime Reporting Form for any incidents"."
Is there any scope in women reporting the presence of male bodied people in a female changing room as hate crime? Discrimination?

LikeothersIamjustme · 01/08/2019 10:06

Those pictures are priceless! Good on the Daily Record.
