Vogue mag - collection of inspiring women from the Duchess of Sussex. She includes Laverne Cox.
At least we know now!

OP posts:

It's vogue, not socialist worker. Never know for it's radical credentials.

TheBigBallOfOil · 29/07/2019 12:01

Bernard, I take exception. Sussex is a very nice place. You meant to say the pissing duchess of Sussex, I am certain.

XXcstatic · 29/07/2019 12:01

Thanks for posting the Lipstick Alley link, @drspouse - the comments give me hope that the whole US hasn't swallowed the Kool Aid.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 29/07/2019 11:59

Fucking hell

I wondered why you’d been deleted Hopping

Our speech truly is constantly policed. Even when we’re talking about the duchess of pissing Sussex

Hoppinggreen · 29/07/2019 11:57

So my post has been deleted so I will try again
I knew as soon as I saw the headline that at least one person on the list was assigned Male at birth and I was right.
Hope that passes the censor

Ounce · 29/07/2019 11:36

Yeah, I get that. But as PP have pointed out, she could have avoided the whole thing by not giving in to Enniful's flattery in the first place. That man won't rest till he's destroyed Vogue from the inside or turned it into Pink News

TheBigBallOfOil · 29/07/2019 11:35

Stupid woman makes bad choices shocker.
Can we please just get rid of the whole royal family. I do not care what these people think. I am sick of being told by them what I should think, care about and be interested in. Can they all just shut the fuck up and fuck the fuck off now please.

TerfTalk · 29/07/2019 11:33

I didn’t mean that “she’s damned” if she doesn’t edit Vogue. I meant she’s damned if she doesn’t include a trans women.

Ounce · 29/07/2019 11:31

She's damned if she does and Damned if she doesn't.

Gosh yes, just imagine the public outcry if she had NOT guest edited Vogue...

And I thought she was on mat leave? The whole thing is utterly farcical.

Cohle · 29/07/2019 11:29

I think it's great that a member of the royal family is using their position to advocate for feminist issues and women of colour.

Criticising her because she doesn't meet your idea of perfect, GC feminism seems counter productive.

ADropofReality · 29/07/2019 11:10

She's damned if she does and Damned if she doesn't.

Given she now holds a position above politics, what she should have done is not guest-edited the bloody thing at all.

The problem for someone like me, a staunch monarchist, is not just Laverne Cox but also Greta Thunberg and Jacinda Adern. If the Sussexes are going to use their position to promote greeny pro-trans leftism, they might just find the traditional supporters of the monarchy (red-faced Tories like me) end up supporting the monarchy rather as Francis Urquhart did in To Play the King - pro-getting rid of troublesome individuals to save the whole.

The Vogue cover choices I mean, not the obvious issues with conflicting ‘rights’ in jails.

Lumene · 29/07/2019 10:37

I can’t get too worked up about this to be honest. Or too interested really.

drspouse · 29/07/2019 10:23

Laverne Cox has been roundly (and hilariously) damned by a huge number of black women so Meghan could have done some research.

FormerMediocreMale · 29/07/2019 10:16

Oh thought this was going to be about Meghan Murphy.

I wont bother reading the list as i have no intetest in what this woman thinks especially after the way their neighbours have been treated. She has no right to tell others to be discourteous just because her head has been swallowed by her arse - an arrogant no mark as far as im concerned.

Down sorry I didn't explain myself properly. Laverne Cox did a video appeal for a TW in prison called Synthia China Blast. Lots of woke publications covered it , failing to mention the crime that China Blast was incarcerated for, the rape and graphic and brutal murder of a young teenage girl called Ebony Nicole Williams. Feminists across the world called Cox out.

NotTerfNorCis · 29/07/2019 09:07

Yes I thought this was Murphy, confused for a moment there!

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 29/07/2019 08:27

I thought this was about Meghan Murphy! Disappointed to learn it’s about the royal one

Ounce · 29/07/2019 08:17

Vogue has gone to the dogs under EE. I bet circulation is dropping off a cliff.

fernandoanddenise · 29/07/2019 08:13

The inclusion of a mirror on the cover so all of us can look at it and be an inspiring woman too! Yay!
Honestly it’s utter cringe and reeks of earnest privilege.

LizzieSiddal · 29/07/2019 08:07

Disappointing but not surprising.

Micaela64 · 29/07/2019 08:01

Her list was predictable and boring. Meghan seems like the typical unthinking and unquestioning American SJW who will just go along with whatever the newest right on fad is. Mindless.

DpWm · 29/07/2019 07:49

Belle
Christ I was really confused I thought you meant LC was in prison!

To be fair (after Googling LC and "prison"!) I learned that they were an actress in "Orange is the New Black" so probably feels they have a role there in campaigning for trans prisoners (in the obvious TRA way of moving them all) and perhaps doesn't always think it through properly. So I'd let LC off the hook there.
They seem to have done a lot with their life.
