Are feminists getting played?

Maniak · 26/07/2019 14:20

It makes me sad that feminists are spending so much time banging on about bathrooms in a world that has women still working for no pay, old women still more likely to be poor, surrogacy, underfunded maternity care, and poor support for carers. And other stuff.

Yes, the trans thing is annoying, but have you noticed how it always fires up before major elections? It's like Afghanistan in the 80s when the US provided just enough weapons to keep the war going so Russia would use all it's energy and get weak.

I feel like feminism is getting distracted with the trans stuff. At most, it should take up 10 percent of our feminist attention. But I rarely see feminism these days that isn't all about trans. Seriously. Do you think we're getting played here? Is trans really such a big deal?

Cohle

Okay I wasn't laughing about the fact that she got reported/deleted - not at all! She did choose to use language that is not acceptable according to set guidelines - we're all responsible for our choices even not reading talk guidelines prior to posting. It's pretty simple really, I don't personally agree with the guidelines but I don't write them I just adhere to them so I don't get deleted.

I WAS laughing about the reference to The Matrix and KF - and I agree with the sentiment (i.e. red pill/blue pill) in relation to TRAs.

Whatever, IDGAF as I don't have any interest in elementary games. Say whatever garbage you will, I'm going to pull weeds in my garden.

Shine on you crazy diamond.

JackyHolyoake · 28/07/2019 19:55

@PCohle What exactlyis your point here, please?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 28/07/2019 19:40

That was what bothered you - that we had a laugh about it

If you cant laugh you’d cry

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 28/07/2019 19:39

What is interesting is why anyone thought it wouldn't happen

Yup

Datun · 28/07/2019 19:38

It's an expression that gives one grim satisfaction that the unaware, are now aware.

Because it's incredibly important that people understand exactly what's at stake here.

Your fixation on the women's reaction to actually being correct is weird.

This isn't a bloody game. People are frightened of speaking out lest they lose their livelihood, relationships and family members.

I hope you now go away and tell people quite how vehemently women's language is policed.

FloralBunting · 28/07/2019 19:38

Oh, so you ignored the posts from Datun and myself saying we weren't remotely happy about being right, and you want to tell off other women for being insufficiently sober? I think you're really rather inconsistent in your standards for women's behaviour on FWR.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 28/07/2019 19:37

Have you got anything to say about the fact that using the correct pronouns for a person's sex gets you deleted here Cohle ? as opposed to just not liking people's attitudes?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 28/07/2019 19:36

it was a GC poster gleefully making a point

What a complete load of shit

When ‘bless’ and fucking ‘yawn’ are deleted on ONE BOARD and one board only

Then like fuck is it someone gleefully making a point

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 28/07/2019 19:36

so what if people display a certain shadenfreude about being proved right?

the point is that they're right

Floisme · 28/07/2019 19:35

That was what bothered you - that we had a laugh about it?

Seriously?

Listen, we take our laughs wherever and whenever we can on here. They're in pretty thin supply sometimes.

Cohle · 28/07/2019 19:30

There is something very wrong with your outlook if you think women are gleeful about the erasure of their sex.

I do think the response to OP's posts being deleted was pretty gleeful and that's exactly what bothered me.

^So, to use the language of Kiwifarms, OP was just red pilled.

Pink pilled, if you please.

Okay now I've made a mess, coffee everywhere! That was gold! 🤣^

youkiddingme · 28/07/2019 19:22

Cohle - you want to talk about who reported something whilst berating people for not talking about the bigger issues as you see them?

Just to be clear I have no idea who did.

Have you tried posting similar comments to the ones that got removed here on twitter?

Datun · 28/07/2019 19:21

Are you trying to imply that TRAs don't want the OP to know about that rule? Because that really wouldn't last five minutes, would it!? What would be the point? She'll get deleted the very next time she says it.

Honestly. Utter tosh.

Datun · 28/07/2019 19:20

Or the GC posters who trawled back through the thread to notice the deletion, drew attention to it

Well of course I drew attention to it. What dingbattery to imagine I wouldn't!

I told the OP that if she correctly sexed a person, she would be deleted. She didn't believe me, so she did it. And was.

That wouldn't be able to happen without the rule in place that you can't correctly sex a person.

The rule is the thing.

Not being able to identify sex.

It's against guidelines.

That's the thing that's wrong.

Floisme · 28/07/2019 19:11

Why are you so invested in who reported it? You are never going to know. This is what it's like here.

The op wasn't deleted because they were reported. They were deleted because they broke the guidelines. What is interesting is why anyone thought it wouldn't happen.

JackyHolyoake · 28/07/2019 19:10

@Cohle ... it was me who suggested that it was men who had reported the post ... are you trying to suggest it was me who reported those posts?

Datun · 28/07/2019 19:10

Oh Cohle. There is something very wrong with your outlook if you think women are gleeful about the erasure of their sex.

Either that or you still have a rather school kid mentality.

Cohle · 28/07/2019 19:06

I don't understand why Cohle thinks TRAs wouldn't report the OP. Why wouldn't they?

They could have.

Or the GC posters who trawled back through the thread to notice the deletion, drew attention to it and proceeded to gleefully claim that they are being silenced by men (whilst insisting that it doesn't matter who reported it) might have.

JackyHolyoake · 28/07/2019 18:53

A well made point, as usual Datun. Smile

FloralBunting · 28/07/2019 18:53

Well, yes, I suppose the point is that the AWAs have made it so that it is indeed a deletable offence to mention reality.

Datun · 28/07/2019 18:51

It doesn't matter who reported it. It's irrelevant.

If it's a TRA, it's because they want to rob women of the language to describe the male/female power dynamic.

If it was a feminist making a point - they want to show how women are being robbed of the language to describe the male/female power dynamic.

The women the OP was talking about have the power to shut her up. They are powerful women. And there are loads. As many as half the population, in fact.

There completely happy to point this out themselves. Or allow us to point it out for them.

It doesn't matter to them, either way.

JackyHolyoake · 28/07/2019 18:47

I guess a particularly vicious kind of woman could do such a thing to another woman .. which is very unpalatable to think about.

JackyHolyoake · 28/07/2019 18:44

You have no idea who reported it.

True .. but, given that women are so readily banned from other social media platforms for using correct sex related pronouns or for making statements of biological or legal fact, I find it impossible to believe that any woman here, knowing that such banning is so frequent, would report another woman here for doing exactly the same.

JackyHolyoake · 28/07/2019 18:40

Further, women are banned all over the internet for making statements of biological and / or legal fact, but on FWR, we do it to ourselves to make a point. Devastating logic.

LassOfFyvie · 28/07/2019 18:39

So, the men who monitor this section of Mumsnet reporting women for making statements or voicing opinions that those men dislike

You have no idea who reported it.
