A little news on Andrew Gilligan.

He previously advised Boris Johnson on cycling when Johnson was Mayor of London.

He has been appointed to No 10 as Transport Advisor following Johnson becoming PM.

Now, I don't know if this will affect whether he continues to write for the Sunday Times, or whether he might have something to say to Johnson about other subjects outside of his remit, so I have no idea if this is a good thing or a bad thing in terms of Gilligan's pursuit of the truth at the Tavistock etc.

WomanBornNotWorn · 22/07/2019 01:00

Apologies, was it my copy & paste of the article that got deleted? Only just noticed the pm in my inbox (also only just noticed I HAVE an inbox!)

BlackeyedGruesome · 21/07/2019 23:36

jo seems to be doing a good job with the comments.

HeadintheiClouds · 21/07/2019 23:14

How could it be “outing” to make reference to an article, Waffly? Unless he referenced you in it, Mumsnet username and all Confused

HopeClearwater · 21/07/2019 23:09

I didn't know it was suicide , I thought the government had him killed

Quite a few forensic pathologists doubted the suicide verdict.

2Rebecca · 21/07/2019 22:57

I think he's doing a great job. It would be easier for all journalists to tow the woke "TWAW, aren't the nasty middle aged women old, ignorant and transphobic?" line. I am grateful to all exposing the sinister , opposition silencing, body mutilating, anti-scientific nonsense that is gender theory.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 21/07/2019 22:38

It was a very good article and the comments underneath are excellent and informative.Andrew Gilligan (along with Janice T ) and the Times are doing a very great job in exposing this state sanctioned abuse.

sakura184 · 21/07/2019 22:04

He's the journo who printed a twisted version of Dr David Kelly's critique of the Blair Govt's '45 minute Iraq attack' allegation - outing him when he was supposed to be anonymous - which eventually culminated in that man's suicide. So I'm going with 'no he's not' too.

Oh my god is that him?! It always upset me what happened with Dr David Kelly. Someone trying to do the right thing, by whistleblowing, ended up dead. I didn't know it was suicide , I thought the government had him killed

Freespeecher · 21/07/2019 21:54

He also put a lot of work over a long period of time into documenting the dodgy dealings of Tower Hamlets Mayor Lutfur Rahman. Private Eye were consistently good but Gilligan did excellent work here.

Comments are open but I don’t see any yet.

ZebrasAreBras · 21/07/2019 10:01

That is a damning and well written article.

Gilligan and others (but too few others) have written a string of articles on this subject of children being experimented on in the name of gender identity theory - and I do wonder what it will take for people to sit up and take notice.

I thought the lid would be blown off after the first expose, when it was on the front page of the Times - but it seems not. This is scandalous medical treatment of children with variant mental health issues - including autism, anxiety, depression - not to mention, homosexual children dealing with homophobic bullying - who are being sold 'transition' as an answer to their problems.

BreakWindandFire · 21/07/2019 09:46

He's very good on the Tavi issues, but he's previously not been great at protecting his sources, which is unforgivable for a journalist. He also cheerleaded for Boris as Mayor of London, then walked into a part-time well-paid 'job' for Boris.

A curate's egg, IMO.

Bitofeverything · 21/07/2019 09:30

Just FYI, if you cut and paste entire articles, then people don’t click on them, and editors conclude no one is interested. V good way of ensuring no future articles on this topic.

NeurotrashWarrior · 21/07/2019 09:26

Powerful. It chills me to the bone to think of thise vulnerable children who are being convinced by adults that this is right.

This is a safeguarding catastrophe.

I'm glad Andrew Gilligan is doing his job, but what the fuck is the point of the rest of them?

It does remind me of how no journalists would touch the Bradford grooming gangs stories with a barge pole.

Erythronium · 21/07/2019 09:24

He's a right wing hack whose editor (who is the one we should thank), is allowing him to expose the horror story that is trans.

Agree that journalists shouldn't be praised for doing their jobs. A man especially isn't going to be in much danger for this. I haven't seen attacks on him, like the kind that Janice Turner has faced. She is brave.

NeurotrashWarrior · 21/07/2019 09:22

An excellent report.

What need to be noted in these articles and by the Clinicans is what yp who are de transitioning are saying regarding their journey.

  • they are coached by online trans communities; what to say in response to certain questions.
  • other mh support services do not help to explore wider causes or issues with gender identity, either dismissing out of hand so alienating the young person or affirming, or washing their hands and passing on to GIDS stating that this is the main cause of all their mh issues.
  • research has been denied or shunned eg James Caspar, Michelle Moore.

The whole thing is a cyclical shit show.

FormerMediocreMale · 21/07/2019 09:06

Oh no a big bad meant that writes the truth!

Andrew, Janice Turner and James Kirkup are doing an amazing job at getting this horror story out to the public. It is their job to do that but many are failing miserably and writing flouncy opinion pieces that mean nothing but make a few people - esp the writer- feel all nice and fuzzy.

Juells · 21/07/2019 08:54

"He's a big old meanie. I know things about him. Terrible things. I can't tell you though, or it would be outing."

Hmm

He got absolute shit at the time of the Iraq war, and it turned out he was right. Lots of journalists 'know things' but don't have the courage to publish. He has consistently put himself on the line to expose dodgy dealings.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 21/07/2019 08:42

It is somewhat depressing to me that we find ourselves in a situation where a journalist is lauded as brilliant simply for doing his job.

I'm glad Andrew Gilligan is doing his job, but what the fuck is the point of the rest of them?

(other honourable exception, Janice Turner, James Kirkup etc apply)

lucasthecat · 21/07/2019 08:41

@bunslinger - thanks for such a clear and to the point summary of Andrew Gilligan’s role and very minor mistakes in the dodgy dossier/Iraq story. Interesting how a number if people have tried to smear him by either misrepresenting/lying about facts or hinting at terrible things he’s done - but they can’t share them here - For the record Andrew Gillian is a great journalist with a long history of standing up to the powerful

MiddleOfTheRoad · 21/07/2019 08:35

Thanks for the transcription/share.

Powerful. It chills me to the bone to think of thise vulnerable children who are being convinced by adults that this is right.

Yet there will still be some who scream transphobia when we talk about why child experimentation is wrong.

I'm going to buy a copy today because this spells out why we are so alarmed and why we cannot allow such abuse to stand.

Thank you Andrew.

He blew the lid off the Trojan Horse scandal.

And he'll blow the lid off this child experimentation scandal thanks to superb investigative journalism.

AnyOldPrion · 21/07/2019 07:39

Can’t see the article, but I am indeed grateful to Mr Gilligan. Don’t have any opinion on other things he’s reported on, but I imagine in a lifetime of reporting, you’re going to cock things up from time to time.
