I dont find MN transphobic and neither does anyone I know. Just because a few mouthy activists say it is , doesn't mean it actually is.

I just don't really find writing based around endless solipsism particularly compelling really.

The young woman detransitioning has showed a lot of courage, and recognised that trans ideology is a cult and she had to play mental gymnastics to justify herself.

I'm so glad she has seen she needs to accept her body the way it is.

She's seems so lacking in confidence, I just want to mother her.

My own DD was one of the young people she describes born between 1995 and 2000, luckily she just identified as non binary so no talk of physical transitioning. Of the group of 3 of them in her college class who identified as trans/ non binary 2 now accept they are their birth sex.

This entire debate rests upon the definition of the word woman. And Jay can't define it.

Yet, UK law defines it easily:

woman = a female of any age
man = a male of any age.

So Jay should have no further difficulty here.

It's not innocent sounding language. It's just language. Words. Definitions. Meanings.

If you can't define any of the words you're going to use, you can't define your terms. If you can't define your terms what the hell are you debating for?

The 'confused child' comment was a bit patronising, but I do think that most teenage girls who think they're boys are confused. This is a video by a young woman who has detransitioned. She spent the last 5 or 6 years thinking she was trans, because she's 'not very good at being a woman'.

I think a lot of his argument rests on the assertion that certain things, like saying people should use the toilets of their birth sex, are "undeniably transphobic".

If that is your starting point, your anchor, then of course the language around it must mean something less clear than it seems.

Isn't it transphobic to refer to a trans person's "birth gender"? I thought they were their true gender from birth, it just gets "assigned" incorrectly?

It’s funny that Jay thinks we’re ‘really really mad’. Nope, you’re being laughed at here. We do get mad though, as human beings women can and do get angry about misogynists like Jay. We are allowed. Unlike males, we don’t threaten to physically hurt others or go ahead and actually hurt them either. It is always interesting to me when people who think they’re writers, write with the intention to make people angry. It’s quite revealing.

I do think we are giving these bad writers too much attention though. And whatshername... minnimamamooma I still crack up about her appearance in court
