Martina weighs in.

Brandon is seeking a carrier but isn't happy that many people have criticised his use of the word. So he doubles down and calls objectors stupid and uneducated.

This seems to be common parlance in the surrogacy world- the verb ‘to carry’ is being used widely now and the advent of donated eggs or embryos being used to start a pregnancy has led to term ‘gestational carrier’ (to distinguish from surrogacy using the woman’s own egg) and then from there we seem to get to reductive dehumanising language like ‘carrier’. ‘Carry’ seems to be used as a neutral verb that can be used not to imply any femaleness also- I think I have read transmen who have had babies using it to describe their pregnancy.

This thread has more discussion that may be relevant - there is a major legal consultation underway in the UK in relation to surrogacy that could change the law:

I suggest the Ergo 360; if he means an adult human female he can spin 360.

This guy is a professional troll

""Brandon Ambrosino, a writer who has been criticized for peddling misinformation about LGBT people and acting as an apologist for anti-gay discrimination. Klein promised that Ambrosino's work would "receive a lot of editing and a lot of guidance," iterating Vox's commitment to properly covering LGBT issues.""

""People felt Brandon had made his name writing sloppy pieces that were empathetic towards homophobes but relentlessly critical of the gay community. They believe we were sending a signal about Vox's approach to LGBT issues: Contrarian clickbait at the expense of the struggle and discrimination that LGBT men and women face every day."

I hope and potential surrogates see his vile attitude and say no. However it is likely a desperate woman will need the money.

I think he needs more than a "carrier" though as his spurt on its own is useless. Maybe any potential egg donors will be appalled by his attitude and not want their child raised by that pathetic excuse of a man.

Martina is fantastic

Every new conversation about surrogacy just makes it clearer how harmful to women it is

DpWm · 15/07/2019 08:31

That thread is not going well for the OP

I love the responses!

plattercake · 15/07/2019 08:25

Disgusting man. Totally dehumanising. How could he possible raise a girl child without damaging her. (and obviously he would damage a boy too.)

JessicaWakefieldSV · 15/07/2019 08:22

What he wants is a handmaid

JessicaWakefieldSV · 15/07/2019 08:20

Martina is just awesome. Carrier? That guy is vile and shouldn’t be allowed to treat a woman like a fucking object to service his desires. Gross.

Link to tweet that started it.
