JY’s parent sounds like an absolute loon. It would explain a lot.

@RolyWatts I just snorted my dinner down my nose at that point too 😂

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/07/2019 13:01

There’s no more hard done by group in western society than a white man.

LangCleg · 10/07/2019 12:09

It really is a class thing also.

Yes, it is.

How this ideology masquerades as progressive when, in fact, it is ultra libertarian - what else can self ID be, FFS? - and therefore benefits extant power structures to the benefit of class privileged, white males, utterly defeats me.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/07/2019 12:02

This person - if they had never decided to become J would be a nobody now. Like Comic Book Guy!

Look now - politicians listen, familiars fawn over every word, they are told how wonderful they are. We all know who they are and what they look like. It must be bloody great to be in a position where you fart (see ballgown photo) and the world applauds.

Power indeed.

Popchyk · 10/07/2019 11:53

It really is a class thing also.

Working class women, poor, often non-white, often immigrant. Working hard to provide for their families.

And a middle-class white man who is abusing them and hounding them.

The progressive left venerates the latter of course.

And it is conservative groups who are the only ones who will defend these women.

What a world we live in.

littlbrowndog · 10/07/2019 11:30

It really is disgusting. These 16 women having to defend not waxing cocks and balls.

Canada just shite at you for allowing this to happen to 16 women

I would feel violated if somebody did this to me. Physically makes me feel sick just thinking about this being forced by a law to make me do this
I would have to give up my work for fear that this would happen

And Canada allowing this tribunal to take place

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2019 11:09

Oh I agree.

My comment was more looking for a dark silver lining against the idea that this is indeed state sanctioned and the state actively WANTS to do this and will work against the people.

I'm already full into deepest darkest stasi land and fear the worst.

I am rather hopeless and fear that this is the goal rather than merely the side effect.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 10/07/2019 10:59

The thing is red this is going to have to get a point where it's not hidden for people to do anything about it.

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2019 10:45

It's a saving grace that it's not advertising that's it's open season against women just yet.

LangCleg · 10/07/2019 10:39

Here's an article about Peter Kyle MP bringing up the cross examination of domestic violence survivors by perpetrators in family courts in parliament:

www.bestoflabour.co.uk/2016/11/12/peter-kyle-mp-for-hove-and-portslade-ending-the-abuse-of-women-in-our-legal-system/

Here's a video of him asking an urgent question about it:

twitter.com/peterkyle/status/1075087280572915714

It took another two years but the UK government did eventually bring forward the Domestic Abuse Bill to prevent this from happening.

Tell me: what is the difference in what JY is doing?

No difference. It's the most vile, disgusting spectacle I have ever seen. Shame on you, Canada. Shame on you.

nauticant · 10/07/2019 10:37

If JY won, I'd expect that it would be spun in the Canadian Press as a victory for the underdog and a welcome advancement of progressive society. I would expect every single one of the important and relevant facts would be deliberately omitted and readers would learn noting about the nature of JY's behaviour, their interest in children, the threats they appear to pose, the nature of the cases brought, the way in which the hearings went, and the rest.

I can write a headline the Press could use:
STUNNING AND BRAVE WINS OVER BIGOTRY

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 10/07/2019 10:22

How's that a saving grace?

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2019 10:16

The phrase is show trial indeed.

Though this is one saving grace about it not being covered by the Canadian press if JY does manage to win.

Popchyk · 10/07/2019 10:14

And allow this person to wax (pun intended) lyrical about his menstruation fetish.

In open court.

And force his victims to collude in his menstruation fetish.

In open court.

nauticant · 10/07/2019 10:12

Cross-examining of JY by the defendants lawyer:
Question: Why use XXX (stereotypically male) name?
Answer: JY - has verified account, not willing to change name

That's your deadnaming there, done by the trans person themself with no problems. That would be the deadnaming that's supposedly the same as physical violence.

Those hearings are a disgusting spectacle. State sanctioned abuse of women indeed.

LangCleg · 10/07/2019 10:04

I mean Canada has allowed this individual to sue 16 women, 16 fucking women, because they won't touch his genitals.

And cross question them, in person, about genitals.

OvaHere · 10/07/2019 09:50

I agree it's disgusting state sanctioned abuse of women. We are going to see more and more of this here and overseas as more men cotton on to the loopholes and realise how much teflon saying the magic pronouns gives them.

Popchyk · 10/07/2019 09:47

The defendants' lawyer seems to be very effective though.

Funded through the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (a conservative legal organisation), because of course no left wing cause would ever go to bat for poor vulnerable immigrant women who are being abused.

Datun · 10/07/2019 09:42

I mean Canada has allowed this individual to sue 16 women, 16 fucking women, because they won't touch his genitals.

It's beyond awful.

Datun · 10/07/2019 09:41

It's not absurd. It's vile state sanctioned abuse of women.

It is.

It doesn't matter if they throw the book at JY (I bet they don't). They are allowing this individual a global platform to abuse as many women as they like.

The laws they have enacted have led directly to this. As women predicted, over and over.

The only precedent that this will set is that any bloke can do it.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 10/07/2019 09:36

It's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen

And this is just the start.

LangCleg · 10/07/2019 09:34

This case is absurd

It's not absurd. It's vile state sanctioned abuse of women. A show trial. An opportunity for an abusive person to enact abuse of women in narcissistic theatre.

It's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 10/07/2019 09:22

Male socialization thru and thru

Absolutely.

So... in places where prostitution is legalised... you couldn’t turn down such a persons if they rocked up for services? Even if you really worried for your safety. Ok then. We can see who this all really protects.
