"@Localgiving are you aware that your platform is being used to fund children to attend an adult fetish march?
One that encourages the children at an adult event attended by masked sexual fetishists? #puppyplay here is a range of images from the timeline of attendees #safeguarding t.co/bGetW0GD4n "

I'd like Spanner to be applied in cases when men "accidentally" kill women, not overturned.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/07/2019 11:47

I'm also interested in why overturning Spanner would be a good thing. It seems to me a good way of ensuring the BDSM activity is safe, sane and consensual

It seems that society's ingrained homophobia and sexism mean however that the ruling is applied to gay men, where 'sex game gone wrong' defenses often seem to get some traction in cases where men have murdered women

Floomph · 06/07/2019 11:46

This is really disturbing

LangCleg · 06/07/2019 11:41

I know nonexistantfox has stropped off to Pride, so probably no answer will be forthcoming

Which is a shame because I really am interested in understanding quite why overturning Spanner requires linking up with child transition lobby groups.

SunsetBeetch · 06/07/2019 11:00

*BogglesGoggles

This is homophobia.*

What is?

fuck it, link fail

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/07/2019 10:46

Thanks for the link Neurotrash. At the risk of sounding like Camile Paglia, dear god we've become a decadent society, haven't we?

The complex field of sexual fetish has absolutely nothing to do with the important arena of lesbian and gay rights

Have you even heard of the lesbian sex wars?

so if I understand that link correctly, many radical feminists felt that BDSM was a means of reinforcing patriarchal control even when practised by lesbians.

and lib fems, including Pat Califa, whose name I recognised from [[https://medium.com/@doctorEm/the-trojan-unicorn-qt-and-paedophilia-part-ii-ee94e132fb5d Dr Em's queer theory article], and who looks to have had some pretty reprehensible views regarding 'children's sexuality', argued that choosy choice, if I want to do it it, it's fine, I'm totes not affected by being brought up in the patriarchy, there's no context to these decisions at all, no siree

I know nonexistantfox has stropped off to Pride, so probably no answer will be forthcoming

but I still don't see why this means I should be cool with having fetishists in bondage gear in my local play park

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/07/2019 10:18

I don't fully understand that link I've linked as my background is not feminist theory.

I find the combination of the words lesbian with sex and war quite fucking shit if I'm honest.

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/07/2019 10:14

Because fetish is such a large part of the gay male scene, in particular.
That translates to, " No criticism or reflective thinking at all, when it comes to gay culture. It's all wonderful!"

Will the NSPCC be at pride?

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/07/2019 10:14

Lesbian sex wars aka feminists pointing out forms of commercial sex are abusive to women?

And please leave lavender out of it, there's a gardening section for that.

Wtf is GLBTQ?

Justhadathought · 06/07/2019 10:11

The complex field of sexual fetish has absolutely nothing to do with the important arena of lesbian and gay rights

Except when no criticism of a marginalised community is permitted. That's how we ended up with the Rotherham child abuse scandal. Nobody wanted to be seen as racist or Islamophobic.

Justhadathought · 06/07/2019 10:07

They are determined to sexualise children. It feels like this has been snuck in and gained a huge chunk of ground recently. I sincerely hope this is short-lived and people come to their senses soon

You only have to read through Peter Tatchell's pronouncements to see this is the case. It is all about validating homosexual male culture.

AlunWynsKnee · 06/07/2019 10:05

Why is there a separate Trans Pride a couple of weeks before Brighton Pride? The main event is LGBT+ surely?

Justhadathought · 06/07/2019 10:04

I don’t understand why sexual fetish groups are trying to muscle in on pride events. The world is losing the plot 😡

Because fetish is such a large part of the gay male scene, in particular.
That translates to, " No criticism or reflective thinking at all, when it comes to gay culture. It's all wonderful!"

WelshMoth · 06/07/2019 10:00

If there is precedent to say you can't consent to GBH, how come men are saying women consent to acts leading to their actual death during 'sex games gone wrong'?

Christ Almighty I feel sick.

We CANNOT be the only ones talking about this, surely?

BogglesGoggles · 06/07/2019 10:00

This is homophobia.

WelshMoth · 06/07/2019 09:58

NonExistantFox wtf are you on about?

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/07/2019 09:55

*is

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/07/2019 09:54

Wtf if lavender washing?

LangCleg · 06/07/2019 09:36

I'm really, really interested in the implication that kink marches at Pride with the political purpose of overturning Spanner. Will there be banners to this effect? How does this campaign to extend consent to harm during sex link to forging fundraising connections with child transition lobby groups?

This is all news to me. Very interested in the specifics.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/07/2019 09:31

please explain to me the lesbian sex wars, NonExistentFox and why they give reason for fetish

I too have never heard of this and am reading with interest

Juells · 06/07/2019 09:26

Misogyny, abuse of lesbians, and fetish. It's going to cause a backlash against gay men that will undo all the gains that have been made.

MoltenLasagne · 06/07/2019 09:21

It seems that judges believe (gay) men can’t consent to GBH but obviously women want it.

Datun · 06/07/2019 09:18

If there is precedent to say you can't consent to GBH, how come men are saying women consent to acts leading to their actual death during 'sex games gone wrong'?

LangCleg · 06/07/2019 09:00

This is why.

Are you saying that kink marches at Pride with the political purpose of overturning the Spanner judgement? For the right to consent to GBH? Is it just Spanner they want to overturn or Emmett too? Just want to be clear on the sexual orientation aspect of this campaign I hadn't heard about.

And what does this - or Spanner or Emmett - have to do with children? Why are campaigners who want to overturn judgements on risky adult sex linking up with child transition lobbyists? Unsure of the connection there. It's not obvious to me.
