Just heard this on the radio. Shocked at how brazen this man was. But hey its all good, women are just hysterical bigots for being wary of males.

In the space of 4 days within the same 20 me area a 5 yr old was flashed at in a supermarket and 2 teenage girls groped in a busy shopping street. How exactly are these isolated?

Birdsfoottrefoil · 07/07/2019 23:16

the many threads we see on here about isolated cases

yulet · 07/07/2019 15:12

Sorry, you what?

Isolated cases? Do you think this is a really rare thing that almost never happens?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 07/07/2019 15:05

My point was about the many threads we see on here about isolated cases, and how they’re often used to ‘prove a point’ about a larger demographic.

Yeah like those individual statistics which people add together and make a large percentage.

BjornAgain81 · 07/07/2019 14:42

No, of course not. The individual in this case acted reprehensibly and I’m not denying that flashing is a predominantly male crime.

but this cherry picking of stories followed by “men should be castrated” is a bit disingenuous

This is irony right?

zebras you got there before me! Always useful to share the statistics I think....

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 07/07/2019 14:09

95% of the prison population is male, only 5% female. The imbalance is even greater for sex crimes.

ZebrasAreBras · 07/07/2019 14:08

A very typical MRA argument, and now a very typical TRA argument is that "women do it too".

98% of sexual crime is by men.

just under 90% of violent crime is committed by men.

So, yes, women do it too (although I've never heard of any woman flashing a five year old) - but women do it far, far less.

yulet · 07/07/2019 14:03

... are you saying that women can be abusive, so men should be allowed to flash five year olds?

DuMondeB · 07/07/2019 13:50

Nice name SpitefulBreasts - you should post more often.

Making a serious thread almost impossible to read is an interesting new tactic in The Land of No Debate.

How many women flash their genitals at children in public places, Bjorn? Why not start a new thread instead of whatabouting this one?

TheInebriati · 07/07/2019 13:41

What a disingenuous article, of course children are at risk form their mother - women are the only sex to suffer post puerperal psychosis and PND.
Also, the mother is most likely to be the lone parent.

That article might as well just say 'mental health services in Australia are failing women and children''.

BjornAgain81 · 07/07/2019 13:25

I don’t personally believe in self-ID, but this cherry picking of stories followed by “men should be castrated” is a bit disingenuous. You could find many recent incidents involving women with a quick search but strangely they are always ignored on this board, despite being a gendered issue.

Children were abused at homes run by nuns, Scottish inquiry finds

An official inquiry has found that Sisters of Nazareth nuns subjected children to vicious abuse, humiliation and at times sexual assault of “utmost depravity”.

The judge-led Scottish child abuse inquiry has found thousands of children put in four homes run by the Catholic order in Aberdeen, Cardonald, Lasswade and Kilmarnock endured systematic violence and degrading emotional abuse for more than 50 years.

Her 140-page report, the second summary she has issued about specific institutions, detailed cases of:

• Persistent sexual abuse of boys and girls at all four homes, with one nun facilitating the abuse of a girl by men including priests.

• Children punished routinely with belts, canes, sticks, broom handles, hairbrushes and crucifixes.

• Children who wet their beds being beaten, given cold baths or forced to wear their wet sheets.

• Children being force fed, including when they were vomiting the food back up.

• Runaways being beaten on their return.

Stillwater woman charged with child abuse after allegedly biting, bruising infant son

During an exam, which Scott was ordered to allow, bite marks were found on the infant’s right arm and right hand, as well as bruising on his forehead, back of his head, chest, sides and back.

Research has found female child sex offenders are much more likely to offend against their own children (or a child in their care) than male child sex offenders.

Most alarmingly, research has found victims sexually abused by both females and males said the abuse committed by females was more psychologically damaging than the abuse committed by males.

There are also effects particular to victims sexually abused by females. These include intense rage towards women as well as difficulties in relationships with women.

Children are more likely to be harmed by their biological mother than father

Breaking the silence, for instance, says 71 per cent of children killed by one parent are killed by their mothers, 60 per cent of those victims are boys.

twattymctwatterson · 07/07/2019 00:06

I was also under the impression that flashers often escalate. So men who commit sex attacks, particularly stranger rape, have a history of flashing, being "peeping toms" etc

SmellbowPenisBeaker · 07/07/2019 00:02

It’s spelt ‘meant’, ironically.

failingatlife · 06/07/2019 23:57

This happened only a few miles from the supermarket incident. But Nicola Sturgeon can't see why woman have concerns about males.

5 year old sees man’s penis in supermarket. Child/parents complain. Police called. NSPCC would condemn.

5 year old sees man’s penis in toilets. Child/parents complain. Child/parents labelled transphobic bigots/TERFs. NSPCC unlikely to say anything. Scottish MP wears t-shirt saying “you can pee next to me”.

Shudder.

SingingLily · 06/07/2019 12:34

I thought that flashing your cock was on the pathway to more serious sexual crimes ? Like it could escalate

Having spent many years dealing with sex offenders and after reading countless pre-sentence reports and summaries of previous convictions, yes, that's pretty much my view too.

upthine · 06/07/2019 12:33

Well if they literally can't control themselves, perhaps they could be forcibly castrated? That might help them.

Sorry - but the moment you start saying "men exposing themselves to children just can't help it, poor things" is the moment you've gone too far. They damn well can help it. They choose their moments and they choose their victims carefully. They don't feel the compunction to do it in front of a bunch of police officers or burly rugby players for example.

S1naidSucks · 06/07/2019 12:29

I’m actually revolted that someone is making excuses for perverts that mentally or emotionally harm children and women. I’m genuinely frightened for my vulnerable daughter’s safety, when I read things like this.

SarahTancredi · 06/07/2019 08:31

So now we give them a
Dx and feel sorry for them?
Nah mate. If they couldnt help it or saw nothing wrong with it they'd walk around everywhere naked .

They wouldnt pick their moments and their victims.

They know its wrong and thousands upon thousands of men manage to go about their daily business without getting their cock out.

Are we really going to lower the bar yet again ?

Compulsive sexual behaviours are very real.

People who have compulsive sexual mental health related problems can and often do harm others and take advantage of situations. Many people clinically diagnosed with a compulsive sexual disorders have been arrested for knowingly infecting others with HIV for example.

It is extremely naive to think that people who suffer from compulsive sexual behaviours are not likely to seek out spaces, many will. Many fetishes are the result of compulsive sexual disorders. People suffering from compulsive sexual disorders can sometimes be a serious danger to others.
