This short film with Mhairi reading out (mostly respectful) comments from women is really sad. I have always admired her but like many politicians she is unable to comprehend the issues women are raising. She says there is no evidence or legitimacy in our concerns. Oh well.

I'm not sure whether it's being female socialised, or just being very British, but I apologise all the time - whether it's me in the wrong or not.

I do find it leads to living a nicer and more peaceful life though - less confrontational and aggressive. Honestly - some of those AIBUs about people getting fighty in supermarkets... can't be doing with it myself.

But no doubt - this is what the MRAs and the TRAs are trading on Sad my ver non-confrontational attitude.

3mks · 02/09/2019 18:19

I think tho (and I could be wrong) that due to female socialisation females are more likely than males to apologize when they are not at fault. So most females would apologize to each other rather than one sided like in the example given.

MockersthefeMANist · 02/09/2019 18:18

Aaaaah, Bernadette Devlin, who crossed the floor to smack Home Secretary Reggie Maudling across the jowly chops. The joke in the palace bars was she hit him so hard, she almost woke him up.

Also the star of a great Private Eye cover, as she was chaired on burly mens' shoulders in her miniskirt compromising her dignty, as one of them speech bubbles: "I bet this will give Paisley a hard-on."

pachyderm · 02/09/2019 18:14

Bernadette Devlin was elected at 21 too. She might have let her youth get the better of her at times but she was in another league to Mhairi Black in terms of intelligence, integrity, courage and life experience. Youth is no excuse for MB's boorish ignorance.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 02/09/2019 17:55

I thought everyone apologised to everyone else, whether bumper or bumpee.

I don't remember anyone saying sorry missus/hen/doll as opposed to plain old sorry though, and I don't say more than sorry myself.

MargueritaBlue · 02/09/2019 17:07

wasn’t there a study that showed people (of either sex) are much more likely to apologise when they bump into men than when they bump into women? With white males most likely to receive one

I'm as unconvinced by that statement as I am by the opposing statement that a poster gets apologised to because they are clocked as a woman.

TruthOnTrial · 02/09/2019 16:05

Bottom line is joss is advocating breaking EA law.
Confused

You know, law. To protect women and girls, yet talks as if this is not only ok but boasts about bumping into women. Theres definitely a theme about breaking the law, getting away with it and boasting about it.

We can see clearly.

You state we know we're men yet can't stay out of spaces protected solely for women and children.

That says 'entitlement' to me, and lack of awareness of boundaries. Classic, as I literally just heard someone say Grin

ScreamingBeans · 02/09/2019 16:02

So she's below average but she's surrounded by people telling her she's an above average person.

Not a good mix.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 02/09/2019 15:37

lifted off Kiwi Farms - excuse me, what? No idea what you're on about.

Mhairi's records as a hard working MP don't look that brilliant:

Has spoken in 21 debates in the last year — below average amongst MPs.
Has received answers to 11 written questions in the last year — below average amongst MPs.
Replied within 2 or 3 weeks to a low number of messages sent via WriteToThem.com during 2015, according to constituents.
Has voted in 58.22% of votes in this Parliament with this affiliation — well below average amongst MPs. (From Public Whip)

I wonder if inability to correctly format aimless posts is related to how many hands are free for typing? After all that breathlessly announced pre planned infiltration, the PBP just couldn't hold in an ejaculatory outing post.

It is all a bit limp really.

ScreamingBeans · 02/09/2019 15:07

The only possible excuse for MB is that she is young and got her hands on power extremely young and has therefore been corrupted by that power.

Her insufferable arrogance and lack of honesty and integrity, are the result of having made a remarkable achievement - getting elected to parliament when her brain has not yet reached the stage of mature adult development and so being unable to properly assess how qualified she is, to ridicule women who know better than her, who worked their arses off while being subjected to exactly the same sort of ridicule she employs in this video, to enable her to be where she is now. Without the women she mocks, she'd probably be unhappily in the closet. They made it possible for her to be where she is, she owes fucking everything to them and she's so ignorant that she doesn't even know that.

The stroppy little madam.

Datun · 02/09/2019 15:03

Yes, let them stand. If only to inform future posters to polish up their communication skills. And their formatting.

There's no point trying to quote other posters, when it looks like you're saying it yourself. You just end up looking utterly confused by the constant contradicting.

littlbrowndog · 02/09/2019 14:46

Haha 🤣

2BthatUnnoticed · 02/09/2019 14:45

Agree with letting the posts stand, this site seems to be a magnet for autogynephiles (funny, but also a pain in the arse for the mods I’m sure).

It wouldn’t bother me if they weren’t banned (they just change IP addresses and re-reg anyway) - sunlight and all that.

GirlDownUnder · 02/09/2019 14:39

Do you need to borrow my fainting couch?

I did feel a bit faint, I’ll be honest. Couldn’t catch my breath from laughing so hard.

The tone is just so childish my head just went ooh handbags 😂😂🤦‍♀️

And all the bloody work to cross reference us.... omg! s/he must be sooooo bored. Or desperate.

LangCleg · 02/09/2019 14:29

OMG Girl! Joss misgendered you!

Do you need to borrow my fainting couch? I have sal volatile at the ready.

GirlDownUnder · 02/09/2019 14:18

Hey @JoMumsnet I asked via report if we’d get deleted for correctly sexing Joss as Joss has confirmed they’re ok for us to use male pronouns (and deadname) here;

I asked
transtrendy so you’re female gender, and a man and he / him pronouns are a ok? So you’ll not get cross when we correctly sex you if we talk about you?

JossPrior replied
you can do whatever you want Sir, the day I care about GC's deadnaming or misgendering is the day that.... well..... it simply isnt going to happen is it.... you keep on...whatevs, too funny!

Tyrotoxicity · 02/09/2019 13:56

Yes, let the posts stand - until today I knew of Joss only by reputation, and I've appreciated the opportunity to see for myself the tone this individual takes when addressing women and our legitimate concerns.

ArabellaDoreenFig · 02/09/2019 13:54

CharleyParley

Females living in the UK currently have the right - in language and in law - to define themselves in a category of their own, separately from males. With their own spaces for their safety and privacy, their own sports for fairness and their own language to discuss the reality of their lives as females in a male-dominated world.

Are you advocating for women and girls in this country to lose this right? Why?

Thank you for this! I sometimes get frustrated when discussing the erosion of women’s rights when trying to explain it to people, especially when they aren’t thinking critically about it and are focusing on why we should just be ‘nice’, and why is it ‘anyone else’s business’.

You have just given me the perfect way into discussion!

LangCleg · 02/09/2019 13:42

I'm all for the posts standing!

Even if it is like Groundhog Day.

JoMumsnet · 02/09/2019 13:39

Just letting you know that if we spot a previously banned poster we'll always ban them, again (and again), just as we do across the rest of the site. But unless their posts are blatantly in breach of our Talk Guidelines we may well leave their posts to stand, just so the discussion can flow.

littlbrowndog · 02/09/2019 13:36

👌

LangCleg · 02/09/2019 13:36

I've only just remembered Tardis.

LangCleg · 02/09/2019 13:35

Jossling! Are you googling women's posts for plagiarism and other various nefariousness?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Excellent!

That is, like, above and beyond. I shall give you a gold star. Or would do, if my emoji game weren't so saggy-titted.

littlbrowndog · 02/09/2019 13:21
