A Geordie lad verses the Woke Stasi

I was stumbling around twitter when I came across this little incident, and I was intrigued because it's the first time I've seen working class lads in a twitter spat with the armies of the woke.

This young lad does a (pretty unkind) tweet about rejecting a transwoman on tinder, because they have a penis.

mobile.twitter.com/DommyEnglish/status/1145323492591714304

There is a massive pile on, and of cause they try to get him sacked. Hilariously given he plays for a local 7 aside amateur team. The "club" issue statements, which are pounced on. The guy says he's lost his job and home, which is met with glee. He's totally trolling them. Other teams in the league join in, leading the Woke on a merry dance. How can they not tell? HOW??

mobile.twitter.com/official43fc

He then issues an "apology" where he tackles the double standards of hundreds of people attacking him for his looks, telling him to die (!!) Etc. Including, Blair White, an American transwomen and TRA.(watch White be destroyed by Magdaline Burns here:

)

The guy defends his sexual preferences too, and his right to hold those preferences. And I was put in mind of the James Kirkup blog today. Dommy was called a transphobe for rejecting a person based on the fact they have a penis.

The lad did apologise for initial tweet, which I'm glad. Personally I think he crossed the line, in a dick laddy fashion. But it's the moronic, rabid way he's attacked and how he deals with it that i think it's interesting. He's literally laughing at them and they can't tell. They are so young? So naive? But really mob like too.

I don't think the transwoman was too gutted, given the amount of attention now coming their way:mobile.twitter.com/kairahkelly_

Twitter is so insane.

I hope Dommy gets his eyes opened further......

Jesus Kat what happened to your thread?!

I'm going to have to wade through this one on Friday Confused

I've only really managed to read the op; I did notice that I think Blaire has moved on considerably since that film.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 03/07/2019 21:34

Precisely...exactly the same behaviour but apparently it's ok if the subject of the abuse is a woman.

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 21:25

It happens to other people and it's hate speech
Well yes because misogyny isn't a hate crime whereas transphobia is.

FloralBunting · 03/07/2019 21:11

It happens to other people and it's hate speech

Precisely. To reiterate, he's a knob and he did a shitty thing. I wouldn't be even slightly surprised if he's done it to a woman about some physical issue she has or maybe if she has said she likes a hobby or something that he doesn't like. Which would have been equally knobbish.

The Twitter wokesters wouldn't be all over him like flies on shit if he disrespected a woman, and anyone pretending they would is deluded. And he wouldn't care if they did, just as he and all the other knobs don't care now.

It's not a case of "well done him!". It's a case of "Guess what, this is what blokes are like, you dimwits, and death threats and threats to jobs that will work to silence us liberal women will do fuck all to stop knobby blokes of which there are lots and lots and lots."

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 03/07/2019 20:50

No that's my point. Women have been fair game since the year dot. It'd never been right but society generally has been if the attitude we've just got to suck it up.

It happens to other people and it's hate speech.

Owlchemist · 03/07/2019 20:45

I'm not sure if anyone saw it on twitter but it was a similar - a man on tinder came across a transwoman who didn't state they were trans, so when they were messaging through the app be asked her if she had a dick, quite bluntly, and this transwoman took offence and screenshotted if, found his mum on Facebook and sent if to her saying "is this how you want your son to speak to women?" Hmm personally if a transwoman sent me that about my son, I'd back him and probably reply "well, do you have a dick or not then?" Pretty valid question these days

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 20:16

Oh right, so next time some bio woman has some arsehole uploading her pic for bantz with his mates I'm sure you'd be taking the "shit happens" attitude there then as well?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 03/07/2019 19:22

Eresh yes yes! In life bad stuff happens and probably everyone at some point in life has unfortunately had someone say something mean about them. It happens to everyone but when it happens to a teeny tiny number of the population Shit Gets Literally Violently Real Angry.

Lamaha agree with you also regards use of "shaming "! Aware I used it a few times earlier Confused

FormerMediocreMale · 03/07/2019 18:54

If you post your picture on a public website you are no longer in control of that image. The lad didn't laugh or make comment on the person's appearance - in fact he was possibly complimentary of their appearance posting a picture of himself with an expression of pleasure. It was the person's bio stating they were a pre OP trans woman that then showed a photo of him blurred indicating he was shaking his head or doing a runner.

Ereshkigal · 03/07/2019 18:40

And Facebook. There are lots of groups devoted to this sort of thing. I agree it's shitty. But it isn't especially bad just because it happens to a trans person.

Aaarrgghhh · 03/07/2019 18:32

RosesAndRaindrops I wouldn’t like it but what can be done? I guess we should shut down half of reddit then.

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 18:29

I don't think he's done anything wrong really
So you'd presumably be fine with your picture from a dating site uploaded to social media to take the piss out of your looks then?
Seeing as you say you've laughed at dating profiles put up as memes before so this is OK?

Aaarrgghhh · 03/07/2019 18:17

I don’t think he is in the wrong really. I’ve laughed at many a tinder post that has become a meme and I see this as no different. There are so many pictures of people put online and mocked etc which may not be nice but it happens and I don’t think it’s any different because this person happens to be trans. I’m not sure why someone who is straight is even being shown someone they wouldn’t match with. It’s stupid. If you have a penis you are not female.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 03/07/2019 18:01

There is quite a strong community here, with quite an established way of doing things, which can be a bit Confused for new comers. I think that's true of most successful online communities

most people, when made aware that they're transgressing local etiquette say 'gosh, sorry, didn't realise, I won't do that again'. Eeven if they feel a bit Hmm about how serious the transgression really is

every so often you get one that just keeps doing it

It reminds me of the advice to women embarking on a relationship with a man to say a flat no to something they want early on and see what happens

Ereshkigal · 03/07/2019 17:57

The sight of some people joyfully trampling over a clearly stated boundary is very instructive

Very.

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 17:47

Lamaha no, Lang just went "don't at me" and that was it.
Cue lots of confused people.
Although Mabel didn't help matters by even when people did explain better like myself carried on doing it

nauticant · 03/07/2019 17:46

If it hadn't been about @ RosesAndRaindrops then something else would have been used for GF-ery.

But anyway, I'm getting drawn in too so I'll leave it there.

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 17:42

Lamaha not sure what you mean there?
Do you mean because you're alright being called whatever name, you think it's fair game for others to be as shame isn't a thing?
Apologies if I've got that wrong

Lamaha · 03/07/2019 17:41

If it had just been explained properly in the first place nobody would have had to get so confused and ask so much though.

It WAS explained properly. I'm also older and understood it at "Linda's" (sorry, I just have to Grin at that -- are you really a Linda?) very first request. I didn't know it was think not to at people on a thread (I like being atted!) but if I'd been politely asked not to do so I'd have refrained. But it went on and on and on....

BoronationStreet · 03/07/2019 17:40

Where is the original tweet?

BrilliantFriend · 03/07/2019 17:28

Twitter is so fucking childish and dumb. Timely reminder of why I just can’t deal with it.

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 17:27

nauticant · 03/07/2019 17:24

Who knew the @ functionality could be so effective not in notifying people but in derailing a discussion?

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 17:23

It just screams Astroturf, right?

Confused
LangCleg · 03/07/2019 17:22

Yes, it's very interesting isn't it?

It just screams astroturf, right?
