Causing a storm on Twitter...

Sharron is a bloody shero. She is allowed to do a quick tweet the meaning of which is obvious to everyone, even bloody OJ who responds in total bad faith and is on the wrong side of history. A sexually dimorphic species reproduces via 2 sexes (it's all in the name), female and male. There is no third sex involved. The two sexes are biologically different wrt to reproduction and because the female sex gestates and gives birth, the male sex wants to control what females can and can't do, say, think etc (obvs NAM but patriarchy as a system). The female sex is discriminated against/ oppressed/ controlled by coersion and consent/ gaslighted because of this hence our Equality Act and the protected characteristics of sex. Nobody can change sex. So nobody can identify in and out of sex. It's most obvious in sport. Sport is Sharron's concern. Sex is binary. That's what the tweet said.

Little OJ does hate women so much.

Loving the collection of memes on him posted on Sharrons thread. Well done Camperwoman and all. Gave me a right fit of the giggles this afternoon!

Linda Riley is so weird. She seems very angry all the time.

When you get your legal advice, you will find you have no case and people like you and @glinner threatening the #LGBTQ community with legal action are despicable.

AlwaysComingHome · 02/07/2019 15:16

Christ’s sake, it was a quick Tweet. It wasn’t a legal document that required precise wording for people to know what it meant. There are two sexes. End of.

Datun · 02/07/2019 14:37

What she actually wrote was two women. She didn't say they were gay or not gay.

No one actually has to guess.

LangCleg · 02/07/2019 14:28

Oh just stop parsing women's words. FFS.

Women are allowed to fire off quick tweets, make typos, get the grammar wrong, lack a smidge of clarity here and there.

Everyone knows full well what she meant.

Go and parse the life out of some men instead. Make men feel like they're too intimidated to speak in public without passing their words through a committee first. Put a scold's bridle on some men.

Everyone knows full well what she meant.

Natsku · 02/07/2019 14:12

The problem was wording the first pairing as two biological females so people could declare it was homophobic, if she worded it woman and transman they couldn't even though its still the exact same pairing.

Datun · 02/07/2019 14:08

so woman and transman or man and transwoman.

She did.

She said a biological male and a transwoman.

TRAs then couldn't say it was homophobic without being transphobic themselves

Exactly. But they did, and therefore they are!

Natsku · 02/07/2019 14:05

It would have been better worded if it had been instead of two biological females she had put a woman and a transman, so woman and transman or man and transwoman. TRAs then couldn't say it was homophobic without being transphobic themselves (by admitting a transman isn't in fact a man) and not detract from the actual point about sex being binary.

MenuPlant · 02/07/2019 12:54

And women and girls are treated appallingly all over the world every day because of it.

But let's handwave that minor issue away shall we, it doesn't affect anyone important.

dancingcamper · 02/07/2019 12:48

It doesn't really matter what words you use, but it must be a man and a woman. And everyone knows this.

MenuPlant · 02/07/2019 12:41

'A person with a penis who isn't infertile and a person with a vagina who isn't infertile.'

And who are old enough?

You couldn't say that anyway as it's exclusive in some way. The vagina part at least.

Also weren't we told that there's basically no difference between a penis and a clitoris apart from size?!!!

MenuPlant · 02/07/2019 12:39

I'm disabled and I have kids and shocker would not immediately die if left on an island :/

What a weird thing to say.

I also don't see why saying you can't get babies with 2 dicky people or 2 cunty people is homophobic.

And yes there are people who say that sex is a social construct and irrelevant, gender (how you feel inside) is all that matters. Which is extremely offensive to all the people through history mainly women but also men who have suffered due to their sex. It was irrelevant didn't matter. Maybe they were imagining it.

Datun · 02/07/2019 12:07

Darling Datun, it is already a pile of ashes! grin

Ooh DarlingDatun - I like it!

Datun · 02/07/2019 12:06

The reason she used a desert island is because it precludes anyone stepping in at the last minute to create a binary!

DpWm · 02/07/2019 11:57

different to other women I ask them what people they would need to make a baby

The woke answer to that is
A person with a penis who isn't infertile and a person with a vagina who isn't infertile.

An exhausting amount of words because you're not allowed to say "a man and a woman" anymore in relation to reproduction.

Biology teachers are going to have such a fucking hard job on their hands. (And a lot of Kleenex).

JessicaWakefieldSV · 02/07/2019 11:37

I don’t see why people who are more or less saying ‘I’m to stupid to understand Sharron’s argument’ think their stupidity is a trump card.

Me too

AlwaysComingHome · 02/07/2019 11:29

Sharon’s clear and obvious point is that we know that there are two sexes, and this state came about because that is how we reproduce.

She is not implying that people who don’t have children are somehow inferior. I don’t have kids. This isn’t an insult, it is just a fact.

I don’t see why people who are more or less saying ‘I’m to stupid to understand Sharron’s argument’ think their stupidity is a trump card.

dancingcamper · 02/07/2019 11:28

It's why I don't bother with islands etc. When people insist they really believe TWAW, no different to other women I ask them what people they would need to make a baby.

Everyone knows the biological reality.

LangCleg · 02/07/2019 11:18

I would have thought there were many better ways to make her point, that don't come across as homophobic

She was pointing out that sex is significant by using the blindingly obvious example of human reproduction. Nothing to do with homosexuality and to say that it is is a bad faith reading.

People - WOMEN! - should be able to speak conversationally without requiring a fucking sensitivity reader and multiple levels of editing before putting it out in public.

It's a scold's bridle. A coercive control technique attempting to intimidate women from participating in public discussion.

Stop supporting it.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 02/07/2019 10:44

The fact that two people of the same sex can’t make a baby is homophobic now?

Cor

RiddleyW · 02/07/2019 10:43

Perhaps they understand now?

No, still don’t see why her island thing demonstrates a binary. I know there is one but I still don’t see how the tweet shows that.

PCohle · 02/07/2019 10:42

Seems a bit of an odd tweet. I would have thought there were many better ways to make her point, that don't come across as homophobic.

JackyHolyoake · 02/07/2019 10:41

Because obviously the entire argument will go up in a puff of smoke.

.. will go up in smoke?

Darling Datun, it is already a pile of ashes! Grin
