That sign a ?woman? was holding up in opposition at the start - that "Trans lives trumps Cis feelings" had it entirely the wrong way round.

HOW have a bunch of particularly entitled men managed to make people think that they are somehow more vulnerable to women, than women ever are to men? When every time anyone clicks on the news, they can see exactly the opposite?

2BthatUnnoticed · 02/07/2019 05:07

Oops hadn’t RTFT yet, just responding to OP.. reading now.

2BthatUnnoticed · 02/07/2019 05:04

I can’t get over the immense fragility in response to “lesbians don’t have penii!” Like... why do you care so much what those lesbians think? Confused Far out. I diagnose CWBGS (Coddled white boy/girl syndrome).

'Girl Dick, the Cotton Ceiling and the Cultural War on Lesbians and Women'
by Miranda Yardley
(extract)
"There should be a place where bad ideas go to die, and the first idea to be shipped there on a first class, one-way express journey to abyssal depth should be what is colloquially known as “the Cotton Ceiling.” The Cotton Ceiling, coined by a male “lesbian” pornographer, refers to the barrier trans women face when denied access to sex with lesbians.
Surprised? Keep reading.

You are about to be astonished at the appropriation of the lives, fears and culture of women by today’s most fashionable form of homophobia. This is itself an attack on the sexual and bodily autonomy of all women and especially lesbians, and is not just rubber-stamped by the organizations who are supposed to defend the rights of lesbians and gay men, it is positively celebrated so much that the point behind these organizations is no longer the interests of lesbians and gay men. The point is now the bank account.

It’s a measure of how completely topsy-turvy the transgender debate has made LGB&T politics and organizations that the person writing this piece is a transsexual. I am, however, uniquely placed to be able to write this piece as I am a man who ‘lives as a woman,’ whatever that may mean, and can see exactly how too many transgender rights activists think. And as anyone who has ever participated in social media knows, any criticism of transgender ideology, which we all of us have the right to accept, critique and reject, any deviation from the brain-sucking mantra of ‘trans women are women,’ is met with reports to our employers, threats of physical violence, and threats of rape and death. This is a viciously toxic form of men’s sexual rights activism that has managed to rebrand and reframe itself as a civil rights movement." (continues)

What Serano does is reframe his difficulty in finding a female homosexual to have sex with him as symptomatic of systematic, structural oppression. Here, he, the biological male in search of a sexual relationship with a homosexual, biological female, is bizarrely reframed as the victim:

“if it were only a small percentage of cis dykes who were not interested in trans women at all, I would write it off as simply a matter of personal preference. But this not a minor problem — it is systemic; it is a predominant sentiment in queer women’s communities. And when the overwhelming majority of cis dykes date and fuck cis women, but are not open to, or are even turned off by, the idea of dating or fucking trans women, how is that not transphobic? And to those cis women who claim a dyke identity, yet consider trans men, but not trans women, to be a part of your dating pool, let me ask you this: How are you not a hypocrite?”

Of course, this only works if we perceive Serano as a disadvantaged woman, and not a man whose idea of ‘woman’ clearly is nothing other than a sexual object, as Serano explains in this autobiographical passage from ‘Whipping Girl’:

“When I hit puberty, my newly found attraction to women spilled into my dreams of becoming a girl. For me, sexuality became a strange combination of jealousy, self-loathing, and lust. Because when you isolate an impressionable transgender teen and bombard her with billboard ads baring bikini clad women and boys’ locker room trash talk about this girl’s tits and that girl’s ass, then she will learn to turn her gender identity into a fetish… my thirteen-year-old brain started concocting scenarios straight out of SM handbooks. Most of my fantasies began with my abduction: I’d turn to putty in the hands of some twisted man who would turn me into a woman as part of his evil plan. It’s called forced feminization, and it’s not really about sex. It is about turning the humiliation you feel into pleasure, transforming the loss of male privilege into the best fuck ever.” (continues)

This was originally published 5 December 2018 on AfterEllen.com which was an absolute honour."

I don’t see why - show them for what they are.

OrchidInTheSun · 01/07/2019 19:56

For anyone who wants to trace the history of the Cotton Ceiling back further, I give you Julia Serano, who has written a whole book whining about lesbians not wanting to have sex with them.

Here's an article from 2010: www.thedailybeast.com/the-struggle-to-find-trans-love-in-san-francisco

This article makes me feel sick. It makes me feel even more sick that Serano is held up as a pioneer in trans culture.

CraftyWoman · 01/07/2019 19:35

Bespin I can personally vouch for the lesbian-ness of the women who were physically attacked in Lancaster, so you can fuck off with that nonsense. And yes, being spat at and jostled is being physically attacked, no matter what you might like to pretend. But lovely to see you belittle women again, like always.

R0wantrees · 01/07/2019 19:26

I think Bespin, as any male who denies abusive behaviour of women, is best ignored.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/07/2019 19:14

Who/what is that?

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/07/2019 19:12

Funny how Bespin is now very silent.

R0wantrees · 01/07/2019 17:02

Young people being manipulated by men with power is very serious.

Supported by adults who represent charities, inlfuential organisations some with substantial public funding should require scrutiny.

This is all very wrong.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/07/2019 14:57

Funny how protestors are straight young women and men, huh?

"I am a Lesbian and I Protested Pride. Here’s why…

By SS of ReSisters United UK and Ireland"

(extract)
"Young People Being Misled by Adults

I was later told by an onlooker that this crowd, of mostly teenagers/students, had been encouraged by the male organiser of the event, adult transwomen, who kept their distance, and a drag queen, who themselves did not join in, other than to walk by, pose for a picture. This drag queen, who we understand to be named Ivy Rose, was seen sticking two fingers up at us and then started a chant “Transwomen Matter!” – though nothing about transmen… Isn’t it concerning that they were whispering into the ears of the young people to run across the road, or to chant certain slogans, whilst they, for the most part, stood back? Like sending in the foot soldiers…

Robert Mee, CEO of Lancaster Pride and organiser of the event stood amongst all the young people and said “fuck off you fucking dogs, you’re ruining it”, the swearing was hostile. Some of our group were spat on by the counter protesters and we were all sworn at multiple times.

Police were there but did not keep the mob separate from us – we were surprised by this. We after all numbered just five women holding the banners, and the crowd were hostile." (continues)

So yes I counted 5 actual lesbians.

The kids screaming and blocking their way - who knows? Certainly keen to erase lesbians.

from FairplayForWomen guest post by Greater Manchester ReSisters.

'Are Lesbians Welcome at Pride? The answer at Lancaster Pride is no'
(Extract)
We conducted our protest peacefully, using a handheld megaphone to speak from our vantage point of high visibility across the main square. All of our speech was factual and did not express hate, or include swearing or personal insults. We called out, ‘lesbians matter!’ ‘Lesbian rights matter,’ ‘lesbians don’t have penises’ and, ‘pro woman not anti trans!’

Initially, passers-by mainly watched and listened, then people started to approach us to try to get us to desist in an initially condescending, then increasingly aggressive manner.

A crowd began to gather on the other side of the road, making rude hand gestures, shouting and swearing angrily at us. Within minutes, around 40 people had surged right to the top of the steps, and surrounded us, chanting over us, and holding up flags to block our signs from public view.

Local aspiring Labour politician Dominic Casoria boasted on twitter that he led the group to “stand in front of the transphobes” and “drown them out”. This tweet got 4,000 likes including from many luminaries of the LGBT establishment.

Jan Gooding, the Chair of Stonewall tweeted, “thank you. Exactly the right instinct!”.

Steve Taylor, Board Member of Europride and and Head of Special Projects at Pride in London tweeted “My #Pride heroes of the day are the amazing young people at @LancasterPride who surrounded the transphobes to obscure them from view”.

Tim Roache the General Secretary of the GMB Union, Ruth Hunt of Stonewall and Emma Dunn of the civil service “agender” network also tweeted their approval, Emma Dunn retweeting a message calling us TERFS.

Pamela Richie of the Women’s Equality Party said, “I’m grateful to people standing up to hate speech in our streets in a peaceful way.”

Mermaid’s Head of Marketing Helen Islan, who earlier this year notably attempted to prosecute Transsexual Miranda Yardley for hate speech against Transwomen, meanwhile called our statements, “exclusionary propaganda”

However as the video shows we were simply a small group of lesbian women calling for the sexual orientation of same-sex attracted females to be respected. There was no hate speech. Female homosexuality should not be an unutterable taboo, especially within the very community tasked with representing us.

Contrary to the many laudatory messages on Twitter, the atmosphere of the counterprotest was neither peaceful nor respectful. Nor did it appear to be spontaneous. While most of the people who surrounded us were teenagers seemingly excited to be part of a protesting tribe, it is evident from the video that there are older people who come in through the back of the crowd and encourage them. “Miss Ivy Rose” a drag queen who was part of the official entertainment also leads the young people in the chant ‘Transwomen matter!’ (continues)

Sorry if I’m being dim but why does the sign saying “Lesbians don’t have penises” upset people so much? They are not advocating violence against anyone (whereas I’ve seen TRAs advocate to punch or even kill homosexual women).

The extent of the reaction against women who accurately say 'lesbians dont have penises' when they themselves are lesbians should be cause for serious concern to all women, all parents & all responsible adults.

Watch for the tactics and determination of males (whether straight, gay or trans) to silence them.

Juells · 01/07/2019 10:35

It's funny how no one ever accuses straight (or gay for that matter) men of 'using their sexuality to invalidate trans people'.

Funny how no one ever accuses gay men of using their sexuality to invalidate heterosexuals.

But obviously lesbians' sexuality invalidates heterosexual men.

feelingverylazytoday · 01/07/2019 07:06

2B apparently if you say anything that challenges their delusion that TWAW you are making transwomen feel 'unsafe', and denying their existence. Obviously this happens often when it comes to biological issues such as sexual attraction and women's health and reproductive issues. Hence the need to redefine words such as 'lesbianism' to include transwomen, and 'women' as 'menstruators' (in the context of sanitary protection).
I think I've got it right, perhaps Bespin could clarify.
In any case, it really smacks of badly brought up children to me, kids whose Mummies never told them that not everyone has to invite them to their party.

2BthatUnnoticed · 01/07/2019 02:10

Those lesbians are defining their own sexuality. They are homosexuals FFS. Get over it.

If TW and self-defined “cis” LGB people sincerely believe that lesbians do have penises, why do they care what these 8-10 women think and say?

did we ever find out what happened at pride?

Aspley · 30/06/2019 22:07

It utterly disgusts me that it is 2019 and there is any debate in what lesbians are.
People with penises have been trying to lesbians for decades.
It makes zero difference to the lesbian how the penis presents. It is still a male sex organ attached to a male.
If it was homophobic and rapey when straight men tried to lesbians it is homophobic and rapey when a trans identified male tries to do it too.

I cannot quite believe that LGBT groups have sold out lesbians so badly. How badly do some of those betraying lesbians right now need money?
