What a terribly sad case.

Please be warned before clicking link that this is upsetting.

That poor young woman.

I'm so sorry for your loss lilyb93 and that of your family. I can't imagine what you have all had to go through.

Another organisation that might be of help at some point is The Compassionate Friends, who support bereaved parents and sibling at any point in their journey of grief.

DuMondeB · 02/07/2019 11:41

One of my best friends was murdered 20 years ago. His death has had a profound effect on his family, and continues to do so. We miss him enormously.

My friend was also subject to victim-blaming, although the high profile trial ended that somewhat.
I am so sorry that you and your family, and Hope’s friends, will never have the small comfort that properly served justice brings.

My friend’s parents were supported by an organisation called SAMM (Support After Murder and Manslaughter) and highly recommend them - there is no time limit, they are happy to make contact even years later: samm.org.uk/

Hi lily. I am glad you are finding this thread helpful and there are lots of women on MN and in other contexts who will be incredibly supportive of you and your family. I hope the police are sorting out support for you all. There is a great organisation called P.A.C.E. who may be a useful resource too.

So very sorry for your loss, lilyb93. Flowers

Your sister was clearly much loved, which is good to know, and how she died does not define her. No. It's the bastard who killed her who's defined by his cowardly, cruel crime.

I'm glad our support here is a help, however small. I imagine most people were horrified by the crime. It's only sick minds who blame the victim.

Dervel · 02/07/2019 02:49

I know this probably doesn’t mean much, but it’s nice to know she was loved, had a life and a family that cares. You read these stories and they are so so sad. It’s important to realise there is a person of significance and consequence behind each and every tragedy.

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 22:59

I would just like to personally thank each and every one of you beautiful humans for your kind words and empathetic views on this hideous situation. I appreciate each and every comment on this site and it has made my day all of these amazingly kind comments thank you everybody xxx

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 22:54

I know, but I'd be a superhero if I could control the thoughts and actions of others and I guess that wouldn't be fair on them 🙄😂 her family and friends knew the real her so fuck what anyone else says x

SunsetBeetch · 01/07/2019 19:22

This article shows there are more sick, depraved men out there too.

I'm so very sorry lilyb Flowers

Deliriumoftheendless · 01/07/2019 15:44

Lily I’m sorry I can’t offer any words that haven’t already been said but my condolences to you and your family.

ThePankhurstConnection · 01/07/2019 13:59

I too want to say how sorry I am this happened to your sister Lilyb and it was NOT her fault, this man was a horrendous creature and perhaps if we valued women and their work more as a society she wouldn't have had to deal with the likes of him. Should you wish to carry out any action or awareness be assured I would personally be happy to help and I am certain the vast majority of women on this forum would be behind you.

So very, very sorry for your loss.

FermatsTheorem · 01/07/2019 13:50

Lilyb Flowers and condolences on the loss of your sister to such a horrible crime. Adding my voice to those saying please keep in touch if you need further practical support with campaigning (petitions etc.)

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/07/2019 13:49

lilyb93 I am so very sorry for what you and your family are going through. Please accept my sincere condolences Flowers

I for one will shed no tears over the fate of the depraved piece of human scum who was responsible for your sister's death.

Thepearofwisdom · 01/07/2019 11:10

@lilyb93 so terribly sorry that this vile man took your sister from you,I cannot imagine the pain your family is going through. It's hard, but please try to ignore the ignorant bigots who attempt to blame her, there are many of of us who know damn well who is to blame. Wishing you healing and peace Thanks

beagadorsrock · 01/07/2019 11:02

lilyb93 - there are plenty of people who are appalled by what happened to your sister. Lots of condolences to you and your family. If you do get around - once the pain has dulled, perhaps - to set up a campaign/petition etc, count me in too.

LangCleg · 01/07/2019 10:58

lilyb93 - condolences from me too. I'm so sorry for the loss of your sister and also that you should have to read such vile remarks from those who did not know her.

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 10:51

All of your kind words are very refreshing and uplifting so thank you all very much, not only for being non judgmental, but for also being empathic towards our family's situation. X

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 10:49

Thank you, I'm not sure what kind of petition would be relevant if anyone has any ideas please let me know x

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 10:47

Thank you so much x

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 10:46

Thank you ever so much x

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 10:45

Thank you for your kind words x

Gingerkittykat · 01/07/2019 05:45

@lilyb93 Sorry for your loss.

Is there anything else you would like us to know about your sister and what happened to her?

I hope I don't sound intrusive, feel free to say nothing at all.

lilyb93 · 01/07/2019 03:24

Thank you for your kind words, what a shame not everybody has the same understanding and empathy as the rest of you! X

DuMondeB · 30/06/2019 13:46

I agree, Lass

If the independent cannot afford to moderate their online comment spaces, they shouldn’t have them.

LassOfFyvie · 30/06/2019 12:55

The horrible comments are on The Independent link above, horrible newspaper that should moderate comments

Just an aside but has there been a huge change in the demographics of who reads that paper since it went wholly on-line?

The Daily Mail used to be the most hated paper on MN, both for its content and its comments yet for a while now I've seen such a change in both whilst the truly idiotic and nasty seem to have gone to the Independent.

Lily , I'm so sorry for your loss.
