Some American TRA believes Caroline to be guilty of WRONG THINK and decrees that she be boycotted.

Also targeted by the ever delightful Arthur Chu, who helpfully retweets all of his own tweets so no one misses out on his absolutely riveting thoughts on all subjects

Only a matter of time, I suppose. Women must NEVER be allowed to talk about their own bodies. Dangerous Terfism, that.

Pota2
Yeah I know, the exclamation mark was a 'Oh my god even though I am totally aware of the crazy censorship and bullying that's going on I'm still gobsmacked when I see examples of it' exclamation mark.
MN should probably come up with an emoji for that, it would be clearer than just using an exclamation mark.

Today I learned
Pizza signs on toilet door signs are transphobic

www.dailydot.com/unclick/trans-twitter-pizza-bathrooms-transphobic/

Women writing books on how male design effects female bodies negatively, are transphobic

And

If a woman follows someone you don't like on Twitter, that makes her transphobic "filth"

The peak gets ever higher.

NotTerfNorCis · 25/06/2019 16:58

Flap looks like a scam site unfortunately. It sounds like you'll get the book as a PDF but they trick people into thinking it's a real book.

Pota2 · 25/06/2019 16:58

Mermoose she probably deleted it because of the hate she gets. I doubt her entire beliefs have changed. People don’t tend to swing the other way from rationally believing in biology to suddenly thinking being a woman is a feeling.

Mermoose · 25/06/2019 16:54

CCP wrote a blog post which was one of the things that made me see I was GC. It was about the term 'cis' and how it boxes women into supporting sexism. I found the blog because a nasty person who wears a child's hairslide and blue lipstick was tweeting that nobody was allowed talk to CCP or support her campaign for tax justice for women, because she had written it.
I just went to look for it and... she's deleted it!

Really annoyed, clicked on a Google link for Blackwell's and I found myself at another retailer (though I didn't realise until half way through ordering). As the payment was processing my browser shut down completely. I then got an email directing me to where I could download my order, despite ordering the hard back. They haven't responded to my email. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Bit worried it's a con given that I was redirected without warning whilst trying to access another site. Email comes from Smarterbook.

SunsetBeetch · 25/06/2019 16:31

*CCP

SunsetBeetch · 25/06/2019 16:30

It's not the first time Caroline has been targetted, is it? I think some blogger or something made a social media song-and-dance about removing Invisible Women from her book club/recommended reading thingy because CPP is a 'terve'. I think that person was a Lib Fem. Probably couldn't handle the cognitive dissonance the book would cause. Stupid, stupid people.

ZebrasAreBras · 25/06/2019 16:28

As far as I can tell from listening to her, and following on Twitter, CCP has steered clear of the TWAW debate. But she concentrates solely on women, and as pp's have said, specifically the biological nature of womanhood being at the root of women's oppression. Not much room for transwomen there - so that's why they're going after her. She's a 'terf' for simply centering women's biology Hmm

Pota2 · 25/06/2019 16:26

Lol at Helen. What an idiot.

ZebrasAreBras · 25/06/2019 16:25

"I notice she seems angry to be called a terf- her very denials seem to me to suggest she does think feminism should centre....men"

What absolute rubbish, Helen. And the sheer bloody irony of you, of all people, saying that!

Still smarting from the court case, I should think Wink Yes, Helen, you looked a right fool, and we don't forget.

Pota2 · 25/06/2019 16:22

No, she doesn’t say TWAW but she doesn’t involve herself in the debate. Sensibly so I think, as it means people listen to her and she’s not labelled some hate figure (until now). I really suggest buying the book- it’s great.

BlingLoving · 25/06/2019 16:22

I have no idea what CCPs stance on trans women is. But her book is not about trans women. It's about the biological reality that men and women are different and that data and science don't take this into account impacting female bodies in all kinds of scenarios from medicine, to work, to the very concept of meritocracy. She points out, repeatedly, the way in which male bodies and experience are used as the default. So the uniforms worn by scientists in Antarctica to technologies designed to reduce the use of fossil fuels in rural african communities.

NoSquirrels · 25/06/2019 16:09

We are all aware why they've gone after her now? It's because her work was actually referenced in the Scottish statement about stopping the relentless ploughing ahead with law changes with adequate impact assessments.

As lovely Helen Mermaids has commented on Kelly’s thread.

I notice she seems angry to be called a terf- her very denials seem to me to suggest she does think feminism should centre....men

That’s a bit of a leap, isn’t it?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 25/06/2019 16:07

She just doesn’t major on trans stuff

But the introduction to Invisible Women makes it quite clear that she understands that women are oppressed on the basis of their biology

Victoriapestis01 · 25/06/2019 16:05

Sorry CCP I mean!

Victoriapestis01 · 25/06/2019 16:05

But doesn’t CCR go along with the rhetoric and pretend TWAW, despite all her focus on biology? I didnt buy her book because of that- have I misjudged her?

I notice she seems angry to be called a terf- her very denials seem to me to suggest she does think feminism should centre....men.

AudacityOfHope · 25/06/2019 15:59

I'm pretty sure Nicola Sturgeon tweeted about the book when she was reading it one weekend. Amazing what CCP has achieved, a real direct link from her work to women's safety.

❤️❤️ for CCP

JustAnotherWoman · 25/06/2019 15:59

Posted too soon

Re Kelly, I don't know who she is either, has a blue tick but bio doesn't really help. Does anyone know who she is?

She's awfully invested in the trans rhetoric, I started reporting her hateful tweets calling women 't' but there were sooo many

JustAnotherWoman · 25/06/2019 15:54

I've seen a few of Arthur Chu's pompous hateful tweets and wondered who he was and bewildered by his self description of comedian. One of the tweets in that twitter storm references this article which is an interesting read [https://hyperallergic.com/501442/who-is-arthur-chu-documentary-jeopardy/]
I'm still mystified why he has so many followers Confused

never come across Kelly before, was

FloralBunting · 25/06/2019 15:27

Bernard, well quite. Being an intelligent outspoken woman is one thing. Being an influential woman can never be permitted unless under strict controls.

AncientLights · 25/06/2019 15:25

Oh no! Caroline rejects the use of 'cis': shocking. Off to the gulag with her.

RosaWaiting · 25/06/2019 15:20

re Twitter

I love Twitter! It's such a shame about all the crazy.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 25/06/2019 15:18

I did think Uh Oh when she was name checked by Shirley Anne Somerville

Pota2 · 25/06/2019 15:15

Luckily I don’t think she’s the type to cave to a load of entitled bullies. And her book sales speak for themselves. She’s great.

They also hate her because she is a ‘white feminist’. The people who peddle this accusation are nearly without fail white themselves and are shamelessly using an oppressed group to try to silence those they disagree with.
