In response to this thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3621239-Being-a-homosexual-female-in-a-community-of-queer-people-transbians-and-penis-inclusionary-lesbians

I want to create a new thread to invite our lesbian sisters to tell non lesbian women how we can help support them and be allies to them through the current struggle and abuse from within their own community. I don’t have anything specific in mind and would love it to be led by those that need support, in whatever form that may be.

It should go without saying (but just in case anyone is tempted to do otherwise) that this is support for biological women who are same sex attracted and nothing else.

Not been following the thread but catching up.

Regarding lesbian groups, Thomasin who is a de transitioned young woman and lesbian and was interviewed by GNC Ben recently, found it hard to find any non t inclusive lesbian groups when she first started to realise she was lesbian. She also struggled to get her head around why she didn't feel attracted to trans women which was the start of it all unravelling.

Another young de transitioned woman I've recently met cited a severe lack of lesbian and gnc female role models growing up.

I've been listening / reading a lot and trying hard to speak up about the L. Making lesbians more visible in any relevant conversations I have. Dropping it in that the L is being erased or similar terms appropriate to the context. I hope this helps.

HA!

FloralBunting · 24/07/2019 11:06

It's not fair!

HopeMumsnet · 24/07/2019 10:46

Help us BernardBlacksIceLolly, you're our only hope...

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/07/2019 10:36

Oh, look at that HopeMumsnet, I can see you!

this thread is getting pretty metaphysical

HopeMumsnet · 24/07/2019 10:27

Hi all!
It looks like my earlier post about derailing is appearing and disappearing right now so I'm just here to say (to no one's great surprise) that we're having technical problems and threads are appearing in a re-ordered way, which can make it look like someone has just posted but if you check the clock it was last night (!)
All we can do is hope you see this post, who knows where it will land!

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/07/2019 09:58

Test, as it looks like MNHQs post on this thread from this morning has been lost

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/07/2019 08:49

And getting straight women to date other females doesn’t stamp down on female rejection of the mighty penis, does it?

Which is really what the male obsession with lesbians is all about, regardless of the gender presentation of the males in question

Datun · 24/07/2019 08:25

I, for one, will continue to point out that sexual orientation is a protected characteristic under equality law. Based on sex.

And that it does not just apply to lesbianism. If you want to take on lesbianism, and claim it should involve men, then you're going to have to take on every gay man, every straight man and every straight woman, too.

Anyone who disagrees that sexual orientation is based on sex, has an agenda. (And it never ceases to amaze me how transparent they are. Why are they never urging straight women to date transmen? I mean we all know why, it doesn't validate them. But it's amazing how they don't realise how obvious they are).

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/07/2019 08:13

Good solution, thanks Hope Flowers

HopeMumsnet · 24/07/2019 08:07

Hi all,
Just to say that we can see that this thread has been somewhat derailed of late and we have suggested that rather than go over the same point again and again on a thread with such a clearly stated aim, anyone wishing to bring up related thoughts should begin a new thread (and feel welcome to post the link on this as a final post).
We won't on this occasion consider that a TAAT, don't worry!

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/07/2019 06:38

and thank you for confirming my continued existence Girl - such a relief

in weather like this I often think of Bernard and his wine ice lolly

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/07/2019 06:28

No imagining. This is real.

The “gobby lesbian” I know has DMs full of young lesbians who cannot even “like” a tweet, as their accounts are monitored for Wrongthink.

Meanwhile her mentions are full of TRAs trying to silence lesbians.

teflontania · 23/07/2019 23:40

NC centric) is a young lesbian who was a transman for a few years - here are her words

Definitely a lot of imagining there

2BthatUnnoticed · 23/07/2019 23:28

Whatis I reported, and sorry you and any other lesbians reading had to deal with that derail. Some people are bizarrely lacking in empathy.

I understand lesbians are less than 1 per cent of all women (much less than for gay men)... so hardly surprising there might be more posts by non-lesbians Confused

Meanwhile AGP affects up to 3 per cent of adult males. It explains a lot.

Solidarity to you and all 💚

LangCleg · 23/07/2019 23:27

Isn't it just.

TinselAngel · 23/07/2019 23:14

It's a shame after 40 years women still aren't being listened to Lang. Sad

Thank you LangCleg . Shame that people didn't listen.

In (dis)honour of Teflon, I thought I would post this interesting bit of history. Lesbians have been objecting since 1975! This fascinating Twitter thread is quoting from a letter/article by the Lesbian Rising Collective & Gay Men’s Alliance published in Drag Magazine, vol. 5, no. 18, pp. 36, 37, 39, 42 & 47. 1975.
