I've just read a bbc news article about a group set up in Suffolk. I'm confused by the inclusion of intersex with LGBTQ+ as I've not seen this before. I have read on here that in general intersex people don't wish to be dragged into the trans issues so I am surprised to see the "I" in there.
To be honest I've not been following things much lately as got so stressed with it all so I may have missed this new to me inclusion.
LGB is about sexual orientation/preference to me so including everything else that isn't about sexual preference other than heterosexual seems to lessen that somehow. I worry that by including so many other things in with the LGB that people will get sick of it and homophobia will increase as it feels like it's being pushed a great deal.
I've probably not explained that very well at all.

What is the difference between bisexual and pan sexual?

donquixotedelamancha · 23/06/2019 14:33

I think they've tried to add a "P" quite a few times but it causes too much outrage.

That's the C. Cross-generational seems to be the term of choice. Dammit I forgot the P for polyamorous and I need another T.

There are just soooo many but it's worth the effort to be inclusive and we must never stop trying to ostracise anyone who disagrees.

Hotpinkangel19 · 23/06/2019 14:33

Wtf? This is just getting ridiculous.

They say the P is for "Polyamorous" or something but obviously it could be for "anything"...

DpWm · 23/06/2019 14:28

They added the T. That's when it all stopped being about sexual orientation.

Unfortunately there was a trend for children with an intersex condition to undergo sex "reassignment" surgery which was unethical to say the least, promoted by American doctors.
Intersex people are sometimes "assigned a sex at birth" which doesn't match later on in life particularly after puberty starts, then their identity as male or female can change in those very rare circumstances, which could be said happened for the famous 400m women's runner.

There's a comparison to intersex and transgender on one level but only a superficial one, because intersex is a genetic reality, not an identity or lifestyle choice.

Just stop at B...

ELW85 · 23/06/2019 14:19

What does the K stand for? Presume the T is trans, but struggling with the other T and C too?
I used to be so on top of this, but it seems to have extended quite a lot!

Wizbetisanizbet · 23/06/2019 14:16

I think

Wizbetisanizbet · 23/06/2019 14:15

K stands for kink

Gammeldragz · 23/06/2019 14:15

K? There's a K now? WTF?

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 23/06/2019 14:13

The rest of the letter soup wasn't included.

I also read this article and wondered how people possibly remembered all of that. Confused

SirVixofVixHall · 23/06/2019 14:12

And the K can just fuck off.

SirVixofVixHall · 23/06/2019 14:11

Agree OP. Intersex, or disorders of sexual development as it seems to be more commonly called now, can be a simple deviation from the average in terms of appearance, or a chromosome difference from the typical XX and XY.
What on earth does this have to do with sexuality ? I suspect that it has been added to make the T sound like a mere physical difference from the average woman.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/06/2019 14:08

Most don't. Certainly the main UK intersex organisation say they want to be left alone. Stonewall et al don't feel this is an issue. They are going to colonise support intersex rights no matter what.

You also missed the K out of your word salad. Fighting BDSM erasure is a major theme of LGBTQQIAKTTC+ organisations in recent years.
