I've just read a bbc news article about a group set up in Suffolk. I'm confused by the inclusion of intersex with LGBTQ+ as I've not seen this before. I have read on here that in general intersex people don't wish to be dragged into the trans issues so I am surprised to see the "I" in there.
To be honest I've not been following things much lately as got so stressed with it all so I may have missed this new to me inclusion.
LGB is about sexual orientation/preference to me so including everything else that isn't about sexual preference other than heterosexual seems to lessen that somehow. I worry that by including so many other things in with the LGB that people will get sick of it and homophobia will increase as it feels like it's being pushed a great deal.
I've probably not explained that very well at all.

This thread has had me thinking about, and humming along, to a certain song. But it is striking how far the debate has moved on since those heady days.

But your rules still do not apply to me.

(and Kirstie: Awwwwww)

GRSM doesn't include people with DSDs though. They are not a sexual minority, unless once again words don't mean anything anymore. They should really be looked at under the lens of disability rights. That's certainly the argument I've seen from some DSD advocates who protested against the conflation of trans and DSD issues. They would obviously like a focus on their specific issues of course, especially with the medical community (much as we've had separate focuses on autism or spina bifida or trisomy 21 in the past). None of those groups have ever been helped by being lumped in with other completely unrelated minority groups.

This popped up on my feed yesterday. Comments are...interesting. Seems like there could be a push for a new acronym -'GRSM' (Gender, Romantic and Sexual Minorities). Of course 'gender' is put first 🙄.

*Asexuals. Another word salad item to add to the autocorrect!

terfsandwich · 24/06/2019 03:12

Asexual aren't celibate. The libfem poster on here who ended most of her sentences with a question mark said it was literal violence (or something) to assume that asexual didn't have sex.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/06/2019 18:24

Just said the cupboard space bit to my dad and husband

They are sniggering too

MockerstheFeManist · 23/06/2019 18:00

...Asexual or Abstaining?

The second is a better fit, but notably excludes the incels.

I certainly didn’t miss the tent with puppies and toys - and grown ups dressed as furry critters. Definitely not to for children oh no.

...so C doesn't stand for Celibate.

Nope. One of the As is for celibate.

dancingcamper · 23/06/2019 17:51

You missed the men dressed as puppies dancing in front of children. That's what happened.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 23/06/2019 17:32

I’ve been seeing a few various pride march images. Nothing to do with sexuality by the looks if it - more to do with men dressed like ultra sexed Barbies or female anime, men with facial hair in ‘women’s clothes’ trying to intimidate woman, bondage boys and straight (but they would never admit it) teary eyed teeny boppers swallowing the current dogma and lies. And lots of sparkles and rainbows. And quite a lot of male aggression (from the males and teeny boppers).

What happened?

AlwaysComingHome · 23/06/2019 17:29

Also, reading up on these conditions I noticed that many, such as CAH or Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome, affect both man and women, yet are only classified as DSDs in one sex. Men can have CAH but it isn’t a DSD in them; women can have AIS but it isn’t a DSD in them. Far from challenging sexual dimorphism, their presentation depends upon the sex of the person who has it.

AlwaysComingHome · 23/06/2019 17:24

I don’t understand the logic of including people with a life-threatening condition like salt-wasting adrenal hyperplasia with people who just basically want to bang each other.

Where is the intersection between their needs?

stopdropandroll · 23/06/2019 17:22

i’m pretty sure i remember it being just LGB when i was a lot younger. also remember gillette razors going from 2 up to 3 blades and joking with my brother that one day it would be 6!

terfsandwich · 23/06/2019 17:12

I is standard in Australia and has been for years.

MockerstheFeManist · 23/06/2019 17:07

...so C doesn't stand for Celibate.

The celibate can fuck off.

(which by definition, they will not.)

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 23/06/2019 15:35

Chicken
Here's a thread, from Rachel Mckinnon, that talks about the differences between bi and pan.
"Bisexual=my gender and others, Pan = regardless of genders"
Well that's what the mean now,(well I haven't checked today it may have changed) bisexual used to mean attracted to members of both of the sexes. Now that sex has been changed to gender, Rachel thinks pan and bi are pretty much the same. Because according to Rachel, bi is exclusionary towards non binary people.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 23/06/2019 15:18

Where's the D for deviant? Because I'm sure the deviants will want a special letter just for them soon. If I was LGB I'd be furious at this hijacking of our groups and what we are trying to achieve and the erasure of what has been achieved.
