If you get a message from school that the fire brigade are coming to do a talk you assume it's to do with not playing with matches or electrics, not preferred pronouns. It feels insidious. Especially, as a PP said, if she was in any kind of uniform.

Transgender trend are working hard to provide some balance to the TRA juggernaut in schools.

If you haven't looked at Transgender Trend's Twitter lately, I'd recommend it. They've got a campaign #enoughisenough to challenge the current trend of - apparently anybody now - going into schools to tell children if they don't like football & fighting they might be a girl.

AlwaysComingHome When my house is on fire maybe I should just call Mermaids and cut out the middle ma’am.

😂 This is why MN needs a like button.

On re-reading they include sex the second time they are listed in the eligibility section burning reading the job description it's difficult to see how LGBT training in schools is part of the remit. Which senior staff member signed it off?
The job description does say EIA on their policies is part of the job role, would be interesting to see the one on mixed sex changing facilities in the service.

TurboTeddy · 23/06/2019 08:35

In the eligibility section of that job ad they mention gender but forget sex.

Pew. Pew. Tania McGrew. Cuthbert. Debbie Grub.

Bonkers truly bonkers

Going into schools
I thought they were the fire service not erm diversity trainers

TheRedBarrows · 23/06/2019 08:20

But if the Fire Service wish to identify as Stonewall surely that is their right?

Jammerjimmer · 23/06/2019 08:13

Massive over reach. I think organisations need to really think about what outreach work staff should be doing. Only two reasons why she should be near a school- fire safety or trying to encourage more girls to become firefighters. Not giving destabilising talks to 11 and 12 year old about the contested idea of gender identity. I really judge the schools who permit this. Where is your duty of care to the students?

GCAcademic · 23/06/2019 08:13

I do wonder how it’s possible not to feel ashamed in a non-role like this when you are raking in double the salary of people who are literally risking their lives to fulfil the actual point of the service.

JoyceJeffries · 23/06/2019 08:09

Actually after looking at the job advert link they could sack abbey and hire another 2 firefighters.

GCAcademic · 23/06/2019 08:08

There is nothing in that job description that remotely suggests that going into schools to deliver LGBT education is part of the role. And yet Abby is making it a priority? I wonder how much work she is doing for other groups with protected characteristics of, say, race or sex?

JoyceJeffries · 23/06/2019 08:07

Sack abbey and hire another fire fighter. What a complete waste of money.

OrchidInTheSun · 23/06/2019 08:06

In September Abby ran this exciting looking programme on the Stonewall gravy train :

https://www.stonewall.org.uk/sites/default/files/a4achievinggequalitythroughhprocurement.pdf

So your suppliers have to get involved in your lgbt activities? Does that involve buying rainbow coloured items from Stonewall I wonder?

OrchidInTheSun · 23/06/2019 08:02

What struck me last night us that if Abby hadn't posted about this on twitter, we wouldn't know.

Abby has no training in education, safeguarding or experience in working with children. Why is a school letting her in?

AyeRobot · 23/06/2019 08:01

This job? jobs.london-fire.gov.uk/jobs/equality-manager-frs00173

What's the betting the law isn't actually understood whether you it's in-house or external? And that inclusion doesn't mean cunty women.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 23/06/2019 07:56

Wtf? What a disgusting waste of fire service money. It’s totally unrelated to their actual role.

Can we complain to someone about this?

Jammerjimmer · 23/06/2019 07:47

Dpwm

Wow i feel re-peaked. Just feels utterly unreal.

Have they offered ANY explanation to the tweets asking why the fire service is doing this??

DpWm · 23/06/2019 07:28

Maybe she was teaching them how to get a grease fire going.

NotBadConsidering · 23/06/2019 07:23

Bros before hose.

HorsewithnoHoldsBarred · 23/06/2019 07:22

Are stonewall and mermaids putting out fires now?

AlwaysComingHome · 23/06/2019 06:16

This went well for her. I'm hoping her probation meeting is a similar car crash.

I it is, at least they’ll have the jaws of life handy to cut her out of the wreckage.
