This isn't some long ago "oh it was in the past" incident (not that that would make it any better).

This was the police being called to what sounds very like a domestic incident last friday. Right in the middle of the campaign of Boris " the favourite" Johnson to become Prime Minister.

What the actual fuck?

Boris Johnson has proven previous form as a serial abuser of women.
Do you have a source for that? True, he has proven previous form as a man who serially lets other people down, but 'abuser of women' is usually taken to have a very distinct meaning.
Confused

When contacted by the Guardian on Friday, police initially said they had no record of a domestic incident at the address. But when given the case number and reference number, as well as identification markings of the vehicles that were called out, police issued a statement

Let’s say nothing comes of this. Let’s say that he becomes prime minister as expected and he and Symonds move into No. 10 Downing Street. In that building there will be police and protection services everywhere. What will they do if this happens again? Or gets worse? Or if she wants to press charges? Will they pretend it hasn’t happened?

I distinctly remember as a child my wonderful dad explaining to me that the reason why it was not acceptable for MPs to have affairs was because it showed a significant failure in their character, that they could not be trusted. This was in the 1970s when we seemed to have different moral standards. Now we have a serial adulterer in the White House, and another serial adulterer about to move into Downing Street. Men who cannot even keep their word to the person closest to them in life

RiversDisguise · 22/06/2019 04:48

I hope he replaces her sofa at least.

Coyoacan · 22/06/2019 04:43

I live in Mexico and we've had some appalling presidents, so you have my sympathy. The last one was believed to have murdered his first wife and rented the second one.

Now we finally have a president who is intelligent and has good intentions. The first well-intentioned president we've had in living memory. It is such a different mindset.

OccasionalKite · 22/06/2019 01:20

Let's not beat about the bush.

Boris Johnson has proven previous form as a serial abuser of women.

I think Carrie Symonds deserves our support at this time. Whatever she may have done in the past to promote this thug (Boris) - suddenly, she has been exposed to his male violence.

And do we really want our next Prime Minister of the UK, to be an oafish man who is perfectly happy to commit serial and habitual abuse on women?

ChattyLion · 22/06/2019 01:03

I fully expect a picture of him and Carrie holding hands, to appear on Sunday morning.

Ugh yes. I expect massive media minimisation of this, blaming her, blaming the stress of the election, blaming Theresa May for standing down...

I feel very sorry for her. 31 is no age to feel you have to be supporting the PM literally whatever the cost to your own personal life. Imagine the pressure that’s already on her. They’re not married- so she could get out now. If he does get to PM and he wants to move her into number 10, there will be a lot of pressure for them to get married. The reality is when the chips are down, literally all the power rests with him.

LizzieSiddal · 22/06/2019 00:10

The story is that Johnson is prone to the odd late night argument involving wine in which his female partner feels intimidated.

I wonder if any of his former partners/wives would be prepared to go on record? Probably not.

I fully expect a picture of him and Carrie holding hands, to appear on Sunday morning.

nauticant · 21/06/2019 22:40

The story is that Johnson is prone to the odd late night argument involving wine in which his female partner feels intimidated. Could anyone not living in a cave for the past couple of decades be surprised at this?

If the story was that Johnson secretly worked with underprivileged and marginalised people to improve their life chances then I'd be ready to be knocked down with a feather.

This is what you get when running through a field of wheat isn’t edgy enough behaviour for the country

Chickenish · 21/06/2019 22:25

You can control everything, until something that you can’t control happens.

1tisILeClerc · 21/06/2019 22:24

{Suspicious? What do you mean?}
She was part of the team that got Boris into a position to be PM. A team that told lies and massaged the press.

LizzieSiddal · 21/06/2019 22:22

There’s a recording of the incident according to Sky news.

StealthPolarBear · 21/06/2019 22:15

Do women always get a choice

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2019 22:15

Hard leave voters, don't exactly like feminism and yearn for an era where 'women knew their place'. So this actually is good pr in the most important circles, for Johnson.

It is not a disaster by any means.

It needs to be seen through the lens of men who think the 70s were a golden age for male dominance.

Antigonads · 21/06/2019 22:12

Suspicious? What do you mean?

nauticant · 21/06/2019 22:12

Whoever is the next PM will fail massively whatever direction he takes as either leaving or remaining will see the UK severely damaged, although in different ways.

I agree with this, it looks to be inevitable, and so the man in charge might as well be an arch-Brexiteer and copper-bottomed arsehole like Johnson.

TurboTeddy · 21/06/2019 22:10

Carrie is in PR, do we really think that she would allow a domestic to be overheard by the neighbours? Sorry but sceptical and cynical if it's possible to be both at the same time.

StealthPolarBear · 21/06/2019 22:10

Yes it really doesn't matter. Men like this are invincible. He can do what he likes, probably short of murder.

boatyardblues · 21/06/2019 22:10

to be able to hear clearly what was said through 'Victorian' house walls that tended to be quite thick

Victorian house here. I have nearly leapt out of bed in fright when sleeping in our spare room when the neighbour switched their bedroom light on (switch on the party wall). I can hear my neighbours on the other side switch sockets on/off, draw their curtains and him coughing in bed (chronic lung condition). I would definitely be able to hear them if they had raised voices, because I can hear them laughing at the telly.

Micaela64 · 21/06/2019 22:08

Hmm, the timing is suspicious so I don't know... Hmm

Voice0fReason · 21/06/2019 22:06

Oh dear god he is a pitiful excuse for a human being.

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2019 22:06

This is the

'Grab her by the pussy'

incident for the British.

It wouldn't damage him.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 21/06/2019 22:00

Do you think it was hunt in a wig?

you have to wonder don't you?

Meanwhile, I've just read the comments under the article in The Times. One suggests at least we'd have a PM who is human. Hmm

These are going to be the muppets that actually have a vote, aren't they?
