Mermaids has apparently put lots of confidential data online including private emails, personal data and emails demonstrating the pressure they have put on the Tavistock.

The bloody rainbow is everywhere.

The only good thing is that by next year, it will be so “last year”, everyone will be fed up with it and people won’t want to be seen anywhere near it.

Melroses · 18/06/2019 22:58

I used to love rainbows - had a series of postcards - also rainbow shoe laces c .……...1983?

Now? nada. Same for fecking unicorns

DuchessSybilVimes · 18/06/2019 22:38

Empress (good username, btw) that is so sad and also so infuriating. I am straight but I also now feel uncomfortable and a little threatened by the rainbow as well, though I expect far less than you do. For me it is the banner under which men who hate women march.

MindTheMinotaur · 18/06/2019 22:32

Always Grin (nice Ursula K Le Guin ref too)

Justhadathought · 18/06/2019 22:15

To be honest I am swerving anything with a rainbow on it

Yes, the rainbow is omnipresent...... and irritates the hell out of me.

MrsJamin · 18/06/2019 22:10

It sounds like they sent out an email to donors with all of the addresses in Cc rather than Bcc.

Melroses · 18/06/2019 21:59

There was a mention of a confidentiality breach in one of the cached emails Dec 2016.

missedith01 · 18/06/2019 21:51

Didn't Jo Maugham say this was their second breach? Did ICO investigate them before?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/06/2019 21:45

It’s a bit like how the st George flag is tainted these days.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 18/06/2019 21:42

Every time I see the flag, the first thing that I think is ‘trans’. That’s the effect the TRA bullying has had on many people who supported Pride for decades.

Yep. I’m a lesbian & now the rainbow feels like a threat.

NeurotrashWarrior · 18/06/2019 21:41

That burger - rainbow washed till it's a washout.

Awesome sleuthing people 🕵️‍♀️

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/06/2019 21:38

Who’s pay for that?

MrsJamin · 18/06/2019 21:36

Oh goodness you're right. She RAN courses on GDPR. I sure wouldn't want to be Kate Armstrong right now.

HumberElla · 18/06/2019 21:33

So we have:

3 cosy chums as Trustees; including Mr Lloyds (overseer of robust controls in all parts), husband of P News (professional lobbyist), and S G (does IT but had a senior moment with some rather sensitive data).
Plus Kate who runs residentials alongside a (unrelated?) marketing company from home.

And in the last year these questionable examples of strategic leadership received funds just south of a million quid.

I wonder what is the secret to their success?

missedith01 · 18/06/2019 21:20

Kate Armstrong of Blue Shadow Marketing is all over the place giving GDPR advice, too. Confused

EverardDigby · 18/06/2019 21:12

On the trustees page, the Lloyds guy has this in his bio (relating to his job), "As well as responsibility for the Conduct and Regulatory change agenda he is tasked with overseeing the implementation of robust controls in all parts of the business."!!

missedith01 · 18/06/2019 21:09

MrsJamin ... I was hoping someone would arrive quick and do this better than me ... Grin

So ... the aforementioned Kate was responsible for a quick bit of registration and messed it up, do you think?

EverardDigby · 18/06/2019 21:08

So. Amateur internet sleuth here. That address in Cockermouth is also address for BLUE SHADOW Marketing, a small Business headed up by a Kate Armstrong. Who on <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=mydonate.bt.com/events/residentialmermaids2019/485471" target="_blank">this page heree* is mentioned as the contact for residentials for mermaids...

It all seems so unprofessional, why is the registration so recent, and why from someone's home address where the connection is not clear rather than their office?

AlwaysComingHome · 18/06/2019 21:08

I see a leprechaun these days and I think, fuck you, you rainbow-loving bastard.

AlwaysComingHome · 18/06/2019 21:05

I’m so sick of rainbows now I stay indoors after the rain has stopped.

DuchessSybilVimes · 18/06/2019 20:58

To be honest I am swerving anything with a rainbow on it.

I was and always will be someone who stands up for LGB rights but the new-fangled alphabet soup is just a gimmick with an agenda.

Ditto. I am entirely proLGB. But the T has taken over everything. So now I avoid it all.

MrsJamin · 18/06/2019 20:51

missedith01 · 18/06/2019 20:43

It's weird that it only dates from this year, as well. I checked a couple of other organisations and they have much earlier, pre-GDPR dates. Is it possible they were not correctly registered at the time of the breach?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/06/2019 20:31

I must get the name of their PR...

S1naidSucks · 18/06/2019 20:26

To be honest I am swerving anything with a rainbow on it.

It’s quite depressing that the TRA has made people feel like that, isn’t it? My assistant is a young lesbian and she no longer goes to Belfast pride, because it’s all about the T. I went every year, with friends (ironically I was the only straight in a group of lesbians). We’re older now, but none of them go. Every time I see the flag, the first thing that I think is ‘trans’. That’s the effect the TRA bullying has had on many people who supported Pride for decades.
