  1. Do you think it's safe to do so online?
  2. Do you think it's safe to do so in public, in real life?

What was interesting to me, someone who had not read a feminist book in her life, was how everything suddenly made such perfect sense.

You often live it, you see it and disagree, you sort of know it - but then suddenly it has a name.

And at first you might think, wow that's a bit harsh. But once you see it, once you acknowledge it, it is forever unseen.

It's like looking through the matrix. Once you reach that point, you can't possibly go back.

The other thing that might be useful for you @helpamamaout is the bbc programme No More Girls and Boys. Not wacky, as the title might imply. Very sensible programme.

It demonstrates, quite chillingly, how children are programmed from the off into femininity and masculinity.

At the age of seven, the only emotion the boys could adequately express was anger, and, when asked, the girls said the only thing they could do better than the boys was 'look pretty'.

That's gender.

It's damaging and insidious. The trans-ideology will have you assert that it is innate. Not learned.

But gender (masculinity and femininity), change over time and geography. A few hundred years ago the wealthy men in this country wouldn't dream of leaving the house without their wig, make up and in heels. Pink was considered masculine - as a lesser shade of red. In America football is a girls' game, and considered feminine. (Boys play American football).

The trans ideology says that if a man feels feminine, he must be a woman, because only women feel like that. It's regressive, patently not true, and something that many women have railed against since forever. Hence gender critical.

Historically women were considered to be too irresponsible to be financially independent (even in recent history, mortgages had to be countersigned by a man), too dim to be educated at university, not educated enough (ironically), to vote, and men were considered entitled to sex whenever they wanted it, if they married a woman. (Rape within marriage was only made illegal in the 1990s).

Deeming women irresponsible, dim, uninformed, and available for sex 24/7 is gender stereotyping taken to the extreme. And obviously highly sexist. And equally obviously, incredibly common!

Gender stereotyping tends to disadvantage women much more than men. Look how women are deemed emotional (irrational). But look at any man after his team wins, or loses. Or male violence. It doesn't get more emotional than that.

The reason why feminists were the first people to notice the damage the trans-ideology causes is because they are very aware of gender in the first place. And how it is used to keep women down.

Hi helpamamaout Could you tell us what you mean by this?

Butchyrestingface · 06/06/2019 22:01

Do you mean posting “terf identified” posts on social media (or even just liking someone else’s tweets) under your real name?

You could but it’s a risk I’m not prepared to take. I have an anonymous Twitter account and “like” away to my heart’s content. Smile

Turf is expensive, tricky to lay, and needs constant watering until it 'takes'.

Whereas the other option needs really careful preparation, lots of raking, a good even seed distribution and you can't walk on it for about 6 weeks!

😂😂😂😂😂

Which site or twitter thread will those words appear on?

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 06/06/2019 21:06

What exactly are you looking for and why?

We see that transgenderism as an ideology is oppressive and regressive, not progressive. It forces people back into gender boxes.

We also believe that you cannot change your sex. In fact we know this to be true.Liberation comes through loosening the binds of gender stereotypes.

Thank you, I think these are the words I've been looking for.

I'm GC in real life and on FB, and have peaked all the female members of my family, and a few males. Also some acquaintances on FB that I didn't expect. It's worth doing, as long as you're not going to lose your job. The assault on women's sport makes even the most tolerant and inclusive of people into a tailspin.

Justhadathought · 06/06/2019 20:56

Is it ok to ask what is GC?

Critical of the idea of fixed gender identities. Feminists have long rallied against the imposition of rigid gender stereotyping. We are all human beings: with a range of temperaments; a range of skills and talents in spite of our biological sex. We believe that women are oppressed because of our bodies; our biology - in a world which is set up to centre and value the male and the masculine above all else.

Men and women are both oppressed by gender constructs.

We see that transgenderism as an ideology is oppressive and regressive, not progressive. It forces people back into gender boxes.

We also believe that you cannot change your sex. In fact we know this to be true.Liberation comes through loosening the binds of gender stereotypes.

ZebrasAreBras · 06/06/2019 20:48

GC = Gender Critical.

Feminism is basically gender critical, because we reject gender stereotypes, boy-brain/girl-brain etc.

To be fair, I do think they think they come from a good place. A place of inclusion and acceptance. They're brilliant with SEN, social and emotional needs, supporting not just the children, but the parents as well (i.e. we have someone dedicated to help with form filling and paperwork like benefits). It's an amazing school in many ways, but they have definitely drank the kool aid on this issue.

ZebrasAreBras · 06/06/2019 20:37

It's terrible the way so many women irl have to button their lip and walk the tightrope like that, or risk their livelihoods, yoursarcasm.

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 06/06/2019 20:34

I'm a woman and I am GC. The only thing I identify as is a cat.

Do I share my GC views in public(online or real life) only in safe spaces like on here and with close friends. I work in a school, Stonewall approved , and I'm not brave enough to risk my job. Did manage to wriggle my way out of a Stonewall training, mostly for fear I wouldn't be able to just smile and nod.

Orchidoptic · 06/06/2019 20:30

Is there really a handy guide to distinguishing between people and plants? Loved the other book.

Justhadathought · 06/06/2019 20:25

I have so many questions about all of this but fear asking them in a clumsy manner that would cause offence

You don't need to be fearful. Just ask! But do avoid using the word Terf. Nobody recognises it as anything but a term of abuse by trans activists.

I'd say most of us are wary about even thinking along the lines of 'identifying as' anything at all.

Justhadathought · 06/06/2019 20:21

I don't identify as anything myself, but I do identify with some things; some places; some ideas.....but these change over time as I evolve and develop

Currently I'm fixated on Rome; although I'm not Roman. It captures something I love, in my life, at present. It used to be Sicily. I want to live in Rome, or at least have a second home there, but really it just a fantasy. I'm aware of this though.
