If you could chose sex from birth would you live as a man?

I realised almost every bad or difficult thing thats happened to me personally most likely wouldn't happen to a guy. So if could chose, I think I would probably chose to live life as a man. This makes me a bit sad.

How about you guys?

That said, some AWA once started an article with a question about whether the reader would live the rest of their life as the opposite sex for a million pounds.

It was intended as a rhetorical question. The reader was meant to exclaim that of course they wouldn’t and realise all of a sudden that being trans was so oppressive that nobody would choose it unless they had to.

But I’m afraid I read it and thought: “Take testosterone, get its confidence boost, grow muscles and a deep voice and suddenly get more respect? Have my uterus and ovaries removed? And my breasts too AND on top of that, someone’ll give me a million pounds?

HELL YES!

No. Women rock. Men quite frankly don’t. So no even with the shitty end of the stick I wouldn’t change who I am.

Hmm was going to say yes definitely though I do agree with the mother/child closeness.

Overall though I’d say yes I would rather be a man. I think it’s easier to change things if you’re on the inside/have more power. But of course if I was a man I’d probably be blind to male privilege so I wouldn’t want to change things. I’d like to be a man but with my current brain/knowledge.

I'm having second thoughts now re the mothering thing

Assuming I lived in a 20th/21st century liberal democracy (therefore protected from the worst excesses of patriarchy)- no, I wouldn't. I like my body and enjoy what it has done and can do. I enjoy the solidarity and companionship of women.

Only to see if all men can't aim properly or whether it's just the men in my house.

FizzyGreenWater · 05/06/2019 21:08

God no.

We are the real thing, I'm afraid Grin

Tempting, but no. For me, being a mother has been wonderful and close as a father can be, it wouldn’t be the same.

Missillusioned · 05/06/2019 21:05

Yes. I would love to be bigger, stronger and have guaranteed orgasms from sex.
I have always wanted to be male actually, from when I was a child and saw that boys seemed to get a better deal. I'm not Trans though.

habobobo · 05/06/2019 21:03

@spartacus

oops, no!

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 05/06/2019 21:00

Nope. Men mess the world up. Don't want to be part of that.
I want women to get a better deal.

Gizmo79 · 05/06/2019 21:00

Most likely yes.

TheInebriati · 05/06/2019 20:59

None of the things that have happened to me have happened to my brother or partners, but even so, I wouldn't want to be a man.
If I were a man imagine how hard I'd have to work to just not be an entitled shit.
