Well yes my grandfather did say post, as in posting the numerous poison pen letters or similar letters to national and local newspapers.

I am going, I still support the great cadets, who work voluntarily for Humberside, 3 of the first wave are training to be either officers or PCSO's. My lad and 2 more are at university studying criminology or public service degrees to join or work in similar careers. 5 of wave two are either been evaluated for officer roles or working in civilian support roles.

Or maybe Harry and you lot want our police to return to the good old days, of ignoring DV, not investigating Stephen Lawerence murder, framing Stefan Kiszko.

Finally Humberside police are been sued, so will need to provide legal counsel and if lose no doubt pay 100000's pounds compensation to Mr Owl. When they are already one of worst funded forces in country, are under staffed and in my partner's section have been working 2 people short for 3 years, they update sex Register, criminal records, do PNC, ANPR. All to keep you safe.

I am off, no point wasting my time, I am on 12 hour nights, partner on 12 hour days, both just dropped off/collect cadet son.
By the way instead of throwing money at a rich self centred business man to sue my police force, my kids, partner and I have in last three years ran 4 10k runs, all sponsored. Raising money for local breast cancer groups, homeless and substance abuse charity, local women's centre and finally a group who helps victims of child abuse.
We helped our neighbour collect hundreds of women's clothes and sanitary products in last 3 winters for homeless and poor women.
Kids school has in the 7 years raised 100000 pounds for teenage cancer trust.
I have personally donated hours at local school to help refurbish it. Coached local sports teams for free for both girls and boys, driven the kids around north England to give them a chance to play. Mentored 3 girls into Fe colleges.

But your right people like me don't give a shit about women or anyone else. That's your problem, I should support our aims, but I don't, I despair at them. I bet I done a 100 more practical things to help women then your Hero ever has. including donating food yesterday to the women's centre and our boys old toys to help furnish 2 new safe houses. My partner gave £25 quid out of £33 we had left before pay day, to a charity which provides sanitary towels to girls in care.

Good luck, but you don't have my blessings.
I believe you raised £250000 for Mr Owl, FGS how many women's centres would that fund, rape crisis workers, NSPCC phone handers to save children.
This place is just a middle white class, echo chamber.
I cry at what the charities, I have as a fat 50 old have ran for, could have done with 10% of your £250000. But no you give it to a white privileged man to sue the police, unbelievable.

GassyAss · 05/06/2019 20:42

Gosh. Is writing with Caps Locks on still a thing? This sounds to be a lot of whataboutery.
Police time is being wasted on non-crimes. When we live in a time when knife crimes are soaring and burglaries are not investigated, why should the police spend time on non-crimes where no laws have been broken?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/06/2019 20:28

you can never have the right to say, do or post anything offensive

Shit, is this law now? Oh my word. Someone had better get out there and arrest EVERYONE.

theOtherPamAyres · 05/06/2019 20:03

@2boys

I'll hazard an (educated) guess that front-line police officers will welcome the action.

If you've ever been put in the untenable position of 'warning' a blameless individual, exercising their human right to free speech in a way that breaks no laws, then you will know that the guidance on 'hate incidents' was a scandal waiting to happen.

You will also know that once the public lose confidence in the police and see them acting oppressively and foolishly, then the contract of 'policing by consent in the UK' is broken.

For those reasons officers crave clarity and direction. They want the public confidence to be restored.

I think that the Police Federations of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland should chip in some dosh to the action.
(The Federations represent officers up to the rank of Chief Inspector)
After all, police officers will be the main beneficiaries of a judgement either way.

ZebrasAreBras · 05/06/2019 19:55

You're still conflating actual criminal acts - death threats are a criminal offence - with things that aren't a crime.

I welcome the police investigating crime - I don't want them wasting their time on non-crime.

I keep hearing on the news "our hard-pressed police forces" - yet there seems to be an awful of time for investigation into tripe written on twitter.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 19:47

Even the ACC you said you 'trusted' admitted it wasn't a crime.....

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 19:45

Remember, there was no crime here, this wasn't a crime, not even a hate crime, Harry did nothing wrong.

do you not get that?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 19:44

And I doubt your nan talked about "posting" in the 70s

Her Nan was clairvoyant.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 19:43

People have as much right to show themselves as racist, bigoted and stupid as i do to condemn and based judgement upon those same people.

Police however shouldn't ignore the law, and make up new laws because their feelings are hurt, they are there to uphold laws, including the right to free speech.

Free speech is written in law, "my feeling are fucking hurt" isn't.

Ereshkigal · 05/06/2019 19:41

but you can never have the right to say, do or post anything offensive.

Don't be silly. There is a line between criminal threats of violence or incitement and saying you don't believe in gender identity ideology. But not to the average transactivist.

And I doubt your nan talked about "posting" in the 70s Hmm

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 19:39

You have the right to condemn what these people say.

With freedom comes responsibility, most importantly the need to protect weak, venerable and poorest.

but not women eh?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 19:37

SO WHICH FREEDOM OF SPEECH DO YOU BACK, because I don't support any of the above, so I wonder if you all do!

I don't support any, but i do agree with their right to say those things.

Do you not understand the concept?

2BoysandaCairn · 05/06/2019 19:36

Ok, which bits of freedom of speech should I support,
Danny Baker's tweet about baby Archie, George Galloways tweet about Liverpool win and Jewish losing, Tommy Robinson's hate speech's, the Muslim's hate speech's over Manchester and London Bridge, the Brexit Party's candidate who threaten rape on Jess Phillips, the right wing nutter who murder Jo Cox, the other one who threatened Rosie Parker. Ann Widdcombe's anti gay views. The Muslims outside a primary school who hate all non straight people.
Maybe the arses who attacked Bridlington police station for supporting pride and wrote death threats to the chief constable and PCC. The delightful people who wrote a letter to lesbians in Hull to tell they where unwelcome and their amazing 2 year old girl should be taken into care. Maybe the idiots who paint Nazi signs on Jewish and WW2 memorials, or the ones who kill Muslims and attack their Mosques.
Or the people who believe white girls deserve to sex slaves.

All free speech.
All I hope rightly condemned.

I was taught in the 1970's when 7, by my grandparents, there is no right to total free speech, yes you can think what you want, but you can never have the right to say, do or post anything offensive.
With freedom comes responsibility, most importantly the need to protect weak, venerable and poorest.

SO WHICH FREEDOM OF SPEECH DO YOU BACK, because I don't support any of the above, so I wonder if you all do!

ZebrasAreBras · 05/06/2019 18:23

2boys - those DV cases you've mentioned are crimes - so yes, the police rightly investigate and charge.

But Harry was investigated for a non-crime - the Officer said so on the phone. That is a waste of police time, and way beyond their remit to "check people's thinking".

And despite your glowing references for Humberside police and your own sons - there have been some horrific cases recently with women murdered by their stalkers, despite having reported them many times. The police failed those women utterly. So it's a bit galling to hear you defend the use of police time ringing people up about poems on twitter.

AlwaysComingHome · 05/06/2019 17:58

The police really need to be put in their place, of something isn’t a criminal act it is no more a police officer’s business than a plumber’s.

The reason society frowns on vigilantes is that we police have been granted special powers to enforce the law.

If police are to ‘police’ poetry then poets should be permitted to investigate crime.

I like the thought of poetic justice.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 05/06/2019 17:52

I'm a copper and you sound as though you're an outsider just repeating what you've heard.

Most cops do not support transgender ideology and 99.9% of straight male officers would never include a TW in their dating pool in a million years. So they can say what they like but the vast majority of cops know exactly what a man and woman are.
It's laughable.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 05/06/2019 17:50

Indeed Lang

LangCleg · 05/06/2019 17:49

ladies

JFC

howlsmovingcastle84 · 05/06/2019 17:48

Two more where to DV cases, one with a pregnant lady, both men arrested. Protection put in place for the ladies.

What would your son have done if the man said he identified as a woman and his partner kept referring to him as 'he'?

KatvonHostileExtremist · 05/06/2019 17:44

I saw a very interesting discussion on freedom of expression.
A man saying an old women should be killed for saying a statement he didn't agree with. He didn't think she should have the right to say what she had. Yet the thought he was perfectly within his rights to make comments about killing her!
He's so very woke. He also has a beard.

Isn't it convenient hate speech doesn't cover sex?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 17:42

Do you think your children have the right to invent laws and enforce them on others behalf?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 17:40

posting offensive limmericks/poems and comments on SM

He didn't post it.

2BoysandaCairn · 05/06/2019 17:38

Also my youngest spent 12 hours on a Saturday night. One shout was to a man with issues, who threatened to remove my son willy. He wasn't arrested but helped to find the care he needed.
Two more where to DV cases, one with a pregnant lady, both men arrested. Protection put in place for the ladies. Even the lady who didnt want to press charges , was told seeing the officers had video proof they would prosceute anyway.

Humberside was the first to convict an abuser without the victims consent. But of course Harry and all feminists never publish this do you.
All people, women, lgbt, bame deserve the right to live in peace, without idiots posting offensive limmericks/poems and comments on SM!

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 05/06/2019 17:35

I look closely at the people I support and fund

So do others, especially when they notice abuse of power.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/06/2019 17:29

I cancelled my Liberty subscription last year over their stance on the GRA, and let them know.
