The Benjamin Boyce series is great btw, this is a particularly important one:

Coercion and abuse in the Gender ID community.

Ah, the eyes are on it, phew. Comforting. Wouldn’t want standards to slip.

further illumination for that ellusive AGP myth

Hi Absolutepowercorrupts. I was referring to my poetry which is unstructured for effect. If you find my other comments unstructured then that'll just be plain old me. Given the sudden influx of oblique jargon I'm sure I'll be subject to alternative accusations but that's provably out of my hands so please append my apology when that happens.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 12/05/2019 20:23

If I were you GammonNosher I wouldn't worry too much about being abstract
I think all the folk on this thread know the reason behind your unstructured comments.

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 20:17

Thank you Neurotrash! I sometimes worry it's a bit too abstract and unstructured, though apologies if this is a little off topic for this thread.

Theirs not yours JackyHolyoake in case I wasn't clear! Seems like a reference to something recent.

RedDogsBeg · 12/05/2019 19:55

Interesting username too JackyHolyoake.

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 19:55

Didn't the TRAs form some sort of coalition with the far right recently as well?

placemats · 12/05/2019 19:41

Extreme views equals extreme outlook.

placemats · 12/05/2019 19:39

TRA's getting on board with the far right and deprivation of liberties.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 12/05/2019 19:35

And aids the rest of us interested in the discussion as opposed to the tedious derails. Smile

JackyHolyoake · 12/05/2019 19:34

It is just a suggestion to assist you with your procrastination.

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 19:32

Am I banned from mumsnet until I do my homework then? :p

JackyHolyoake · 12/05/2019 19:28

I suggest you avoid posting on MN for a while and get on with your research reading Gammon. You could make a list of questions as you go along and then write to Dr Anne Lawrence via the Lawrence web site. I am sure the Dr will provide any answers you seek.

I hope this helps.

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 19:25

Oh! I didn't realise that Anne was a MNer! Whilst I'm sure questions might not need to be raised by the very knowledgeable and devout people of the forum silly old me will probably need some help. You'll see that my naivete has been soundly criticised already and I've explained that I do need to explore ideas for falsification before committing. I actually thought I was already there on AGP due to it being such an intuitive idea but I now see that some signaling of expertise or at least commitment is required to avoid being "caught out" or called a stupid liar lol.

JackyHolyoake · 12/05/2019 19:19

Gammon I suggest you address any questions to the author. [Note that you will learn that Dr Anne Lawrence is an expert in AGP, so I doubt many questions will need to be raised.]

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 19:17

Thank you Jacky. I am looking forward to sitting down with some reading. Now please bear with me on this one folks because I know it won't sound good. But I have to apply falsification to things to avoid being manipulated etc. If I were to come back with questions would you be able to engage with them in good faith, even if I find, say, her most recent 2011 paper lacking, or would I be assumed to be a sort of diabolical troll genius again in that situation?

JackyHolyoake · 12/05/2019 19:08

Gammon Perhaps researching the work of Dr Anne Lawrence will be fruitful for you with regard to autogynephilia.

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 18:59

Hi 50shades that's precisely it! I find it extremely concerning! I've certainly been called naive in the past, and it might be one of my sins, but it is one that recognising and embracing finally got me on the right track, so thank you for your patience.

You might find it hard to believe but I held some very superstitious beliefs a few years ago and understanding that I can be easily talked around, but that rigorous sources exist was something that gave me the bravery to leave a very dangerous situation. I'm open to the idea that I've simply moved from one set of manipulations to another in the form of peer reviewed studies etc, but the-admittedly rather entry level at times- feminist materials I'd read and the conversations that lead me to AGP had me convinced I was still on the same track.

Hearing that there are coverups, and that I might need to discard a reliance on science is just a little frightening for me given my own specific circumstances and experiences. I'm sure I will come round but please don't expect me to turn the whole car around in the space of a quiet Sunday chat if you can. I've really knackered the wheels already and I thought I was finally on a rational road!
