Converse shoes promoting Desmond is Amazing

Converse shoes (in America) have brought out a range of shoes to celebrate 50 years of Pride:

So far, so good.

Except that one of their models is Desmond, who is labelled on the Converse website as an 11-year old "Drag Kid"...

Converse have been called out by "An Open Secret" on Twitter are are getting a surprising amount of support:

It absolutely baffles me that a big company like Converse would choose to be associated with this. I will never buy from them now, which is a shame, as their "Pride" collection is quite cool otherwise!

Urgh. This is wrong on so many levels.

Also very weird. Putting a flag on the soles of shoes and treading it into the dirt is offensive to what the flag represents!

The comments are good though. I can't see any supporting Converse's decision. Most of them are saying how disgusted they are by the promotion of this poor kid.

He has always looked ill but he is autistic so maybe his diet is limited.

As someone said on the Twitter thread Desmond looks ill , not amazing.

I would boycott them but I'm unlikely to ever be looking for a pair of overpriced gym shoes.

Bollocks. Is nothing bloody sacred anymore?? These are my standard issue shoe 99 percent of the time. I need new ones too. They better climb down seriously on this before payday.
